I'm very interested in this as an Intel Atom user, but... 1:02 "the latest chip running" is wrong if the Kickstarter information is correct. The Snapdragon SM6225 is listed, which translates to the Snapdragon 680. It's not the most powerful option (that isn't claimed; only "latest" is claimed), but the 680 definitely isn't the latest. It came out in 2021 and was replaced by the 6 Gen 1 and 6 Gen 3.
As a fellow Intel Atom user I'm also super excited, it'd still be a major upgrade. Mine struggles to stream UA-cam at 720p (let alone 3rd party streaming services in the browser). In theory you could still buy a cheap TV streamer or a Chromecast and plug that into the HDMI input (or like they showed, plug in an even more powerful device). Apparently there's already some devices that just allow HDMI input, but they're about as expensive as this if not more so (depending on if you look at the Kickstarter or retail price).
I'm an engineer (though not in software). It seems like it'd be difficult for Tesla to push a software update that'd prevent it from working. It'd probably even be hard for them to detect one is installed at all.
Tesla cannot block Screenmate. The device operates independently of Tesla's software by switching the display input to its own system, bypassing Tesla's interface entirely.
This is cool i already bought the teslalogic device that lets me use my phone as a heads up display on the steering column like in the video. It works flawlessly. Im very interested in this. Couple questions would be if navigation will route to a supercharger like the tesla nav does on a trip
Looks great, except you are using the touchscreen in slow motion, most of these devices, and there are many already on the market, have painfully slow touch lag, so if it's really great, show it in real time so we can see how responsive it is!
Battery heating passenger seat, i can't wait to install it. Will i be able to pull video off the screen to record like you see in the tesla driving videos?
Yes, you will be able to pull video off the screen to record. This video demonstrates that capability, including playback of the recorded file at the end: ua-cam.com/video/GUxPzK_iiS8/v-deo.html.
Not bad. The only thing that may be missing is the Tesla navigation to super chargers. And with the newest xmas update 2024.44.25.2 the navigation to those super chargers and other information has gotten 10x better. All in all this is a really good unit from what I'm seeing here. I'd be interested in it so that I could use Pandora music and Waze. The control panel and other menu options looks good as well.
I have a retrofit CarPlay interface in my 2010 bimmer. Looks similar in functionality with the original signal being put in and then routing the output of this to the display. That being said, the original functionality is still actively running „below“ this overlay. With the 5-finger gesture you‘re basically just switching between original and overlay.
In the event of future security vulnerabilities, we promptly identify and investigate the issue, then develop and test a patch or update to ensure the security and integrity of the software.

Looks like you install by putting the unit between the car and the screen, acting as a middle man. So if that's true, what happens if the unit breaks while you're driving (hardware- or software-wise)? Does the screen just go black? Or is there passthrough even if the unit is fully powered off? Seems like a liability.
Screen goes off. By your logic a passthrough wouldn‘t work, since a failover would need to have an active trigger („switch from input A to input B“). These are all soft electronics. No power, no output (no fallback relay in case of event X).
its s very easly logic - if pass screen dont work it just show infrormation from tesla computer. its basically android device with in out port for a fomat tochscreen disply in tesla works

What would happen if Tesla pushes software to block your gadget?
Pretty sure they’d have to modify the FPD link or LVDS or whatever standard… not an insurmountable task, but perhaps more challenging that worth it
They are basically sending video image to the screen so probably difficult to block without hardware updates.
