This kit is on clearance in-store at some HD's right now for $99.00. I Just picked one up in Northern VA. I'm glad to hear it is attachment-capable. I have a Troy-Bilt pole saw and a bunch of Hart attachments (same as Ryobi Expand-It) and will try them on this Ridgid.
When I had the whole trimmer head assembly off, I could find no way I to attach a circular brush cutting blade, even with a Stihl kit designed for that, which can be used on some other brands, mostly gas powered. This trimmer will take a bladed edge trimmer attachment, though, some of which may be from another manufacturer, as you alluded to.
The shaft and the spool look exactly like the RYOBI 40V model, so that’s another source of compatible attachments/replacements. Cool beans on the Kobalt compatibility! I had no idea!!! I’m looking for a blade edger attachment for my 40V RYOBI head…
@@westtnliving2222 just tried to trim sidewalk with string and one side broke off with the spool still full. Had to take spool off to pull string out but can't get spool back on :( Any help with this?
The blower is also kind of "Meh" for me...once winter hits I may end up liking it for blowing snow off of my deck. I have a small acreage (14 acres), and the weed eater works great. The batteries are now good enough that they're comparably priced to the gas equivalents, and though not quite as powerful, they're so much more convenient and close to enough as powerful that it just makes more sense. Lawn tractors are not there yet though...

I'm up in Alberta Canada, so my mileage may vary when if comes to tool performance...things need to work here for the half of the year when it's cold. I build and do maintenance on communication towers (Cell towers, AM/FM radio towers etc.), so I've tried a whole range of various tools at work...more so than my personal use scope extends. Most of our cordless stuff at work is Milwaukee, and they make some great shit. The Ridgid is more than adequate for my home use, but for heavy use, I'll take the more robust Milwaukee stuff...the lines you don't get from Home Depot. We have one of their cordless mag drills...the thing is a beast. It will stick to 2x2x1/4" angle iron...our 120V Hougen mag drills won't do that. The magnet also is not powered by the battery. You trip a breaker (It happens when you're 400-500 feet up and have that much extension cord beneath you) and the drill will let go. Doesn't happen with the Milwaukee cordless...the drill head just stops...you put a new battery in, and keep drilling. We had to reinforce a 700 foot tower to install an FM antenna bank that's about 120 feet tall. We had to drill like 500 something holes in like 7/8" thick steel (Tower legs)...bought the cordless mag dri9ll just for that job...and it paid for itself on that job. Also nice to be able to pass it to the guy on the other leg of the tower and not have to worry about getting cords tangled everywhere. Sorry for the rant...

To whoever: First, make sure there is no line on the spool by looking into the line holes on both sides. If you see line, there may be a line jam, and it - EDIT -is not- may not be - out of line. That has to be cleared. EDIT Either way, the line on the spool has to be removed or the new line may/will not run through the line holes. To do that you have to separate the spool assembly from the head assembly. Remove the jammed line. If enough line is there to reuse, do the following (once reassembled): (If no line), line up the arrows on the line bumper, to the arrows on the spool housing. Replace with .095 line. EDIT Use ONLY .095 line! Use 16' of line max! Run the line through the holes until coming out even on both sides. Twist the bumper clockwise until the line is just past the line cut blade on the guard. (You can do that with a hand, or use the line wind tool.) Done. EDIT After putting the line on the spool, SUGGESTION, pull hard on both sides of the line to make sure there is no slack. (That can be done every few turns of the bumper, or not.)

To whoever: The Milwaukee is good. Many report overheating, and many that the battery does not last long enough (giving specific times of use). The Rigid tools have a 3-year warranty. And, with a receipt, and registered, they provide a Lifetime Service Agreement. My experience with only one of these Rigid trimmers is bad, and three times using customer service has sucked. I am calling about the broken trimmer again today. I have to wish myself, Good Luck! EDIT Oh, my experience with the battery is bad, also. Hardly any time in use, about 20 minutes tops, the battery is at half charge.
NOTE to whoever: It is good to tell what kind of use you need for the tools? Pro v. weekend warrior, for instance. I, personally, don't recommend cheaper tools, but for light duty, they may be great deals.
NOTE: 2 tries, and on hold for over an hour each time, till I gave up. Later, a third try, and elected for a call-back, which took them about 2 1/2 hours. Unfortunately, I was taking care of important business, and could not answer the call. And, the call-back was not from the number given by them that I originally called. So, that is another reason I elected not to answer, because I had no idea who was calling me. There was some name associated with the call I had never even heard of. Later, I just thought it must have been someone associated with Rigid. So, I still am not sure if they ever even gave a call-back. EDIT Big deal having a warranty when I cannot even talk to anyone about it. (I bought _three_ sets of their tools for over $1,300.00. I returned all of them. Their chatbot was useless for my need. And, I decided not to waste any more time by emailing them.)
The blower is great for cleaning gutters, driveway, and sidewalk. But I bag my grass, and only have pines, so I haven't needed it for grass or leaves.

Not super sure, I’ll have to look in to it!! I know it came with a couple extra things for putting new string in it

Anyone have an opinion on the rigid vs Milwaukee weed eater? I have,,, several,, Batteries for both brands.
