Publishers have had coupons since print days, so way before any niche specific website.
Now Google gets to decide that they can’t have them?

What was the point of the 2 month notice? There is no penalty on the domain. Just those limited subdomain pages are being deindexed which sites were supposed to do it themselves. So there is no real site-wide penalty for site reputation abuse.
Give time to publishers to severe their contracts with these providers?
@@BarrySchwartz Sure. But again, that's just bonus money they lose now. From a Google penalty perspective, the sites don't get any.
Google started removing page count numbers three months ago.
As a test. This change is not global.
