Hi Claes,I apologize for the delayed answer, my friend. Although I'm not the expert here, it was easy to do. I've focused the camera as close as it was possible so you can see the sewing sequence. And as it seems, you have plenty of stuff that's need wrapping so, happy sewing! Thanks again for the comment! All the best Jimmy
Hi Chris, Thanks! You are right, the holes must be pre punched. I did that before I start sewing, but I didn't pay much attention, since that was only for showing the sewing sequence.
No I don't have a spiked wheel, I measure first and then prick the holes using a stitching punch like this: www.ebay.com/itm/3-4-5-6mm-Leather-Craft-Tool-Hole-Punches-Lacing-Stitching-1-10-Hole-Punch-Tool/183051866040?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&var=690348854173&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
As a leather worker for many years this looked good. One thing that will help with sewing leather is to use waxed thread. And do a saddle stitch it is one of the strongest stitches leather workers use. Very neat and good job.
Hi Anthony, Thank you so much for mentioning the wax thread. I used wax thread for this, but I didn't pay much of attention on saying it. Thanks for the tip about saddle stitching! All the best Jimmy
Craftsmanship of the masters. When I put on ma leather I made, and rock to sum Metallica, Delta Parole, Foo Fighters or the Smashing Pumpkins I feel like I can do anything in the whole wide world.
Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it! Without been the expert, I'll say that if I wanted to cover tip, I could cut an angle on the leather so when the stitch will tighten, the leather will wrap up the tip; anyway, this is just a thought. However, there are many sites that you can look for what you want, try on: www.instructables.com as well you can ask here: ua-cam.com/channels/VSnW_AFug4Em1bcxEEEBAw.html I would like to try doing it for you, but at the moment I renovating my shop and it's impossible to do it. A common awl can't be used for stitching, you need a sewing awl (it has a hole for holding the thread), there are also sewing awls that carry thread reels inside their handles. Cheers Jimmy

Hi Jimmy, very neat. I think the big secret is to pre punch the holes first to get the even spacing. .
Hi Chris,

This was great thank you. What if I want to cover tip? Is there a vlog on that? If not, can you make one for us?

Planning to do this with black stingray skin over leather..have you ever epoxy and stitched it?
No, I never used epoxy.
Can you do the Stitch with an awl
A common awl can't be used for stitching, you need a sewing awl (it has a hole for holding the thread), there are also sewing awls that carry thread reels inside their handles.

Jimmy
What is the type of thread you are using?
I used 1mm cotton flat waxed thread.
