Definitely wanted to know, now that u did it. Thanks for the test, it works but won’t last. Maybe some others parts of the rc cars or plane. Definitely not the gears 😊. Thank you for sharing 💕
Perhaps you can get your hands on some igus filament, or use their SLS service. Should last longer
Definitely try again. Very cool.
I can print Nylon and PC, so I will try it on my Arrma Typhon 3s. Thanks for video, good job.
Instablaster.
Right on!
Nice test
Thanks mr rabbit!
Oh damn..Fun while it lasted lol
LMFAO! yeah... nylon is next!
Not sure how well the printer can do points, I'd consider using a thin file to sharpen the points and valleys. Another trick we used to use in slot cars, was to use a lighter and run the motor spur gear very slowly. The flame will help clearance the gear and help the profile of the teeth, It helps to have the mesh slightly tight and don't hold to melt. Just the tips of the gear should be melting, not the whole gear
I’ll have to revisit this in the future!!! Thanks!
Mod 1 or 32p gears maybe ok to print, I tried mod 0.5 or 48p it’s just not good enough.
I designed a printed a spur gear for my Element Enduro crawler. I printed the gear in PLA and it held up for multiple crawl sessions. I agree nylon or PC would be a better choice for your car. Look into Taulman 910 nylon, I think it might work in your printer.
I need to follow up with a new material! I think crawlers put less stress on the gears, at least speed wise
@@413RC yeah I agree. The torque will strip teeth when bound down.
Very cool. Nice it really worked. But where are part 2 and 3?
Im running a little behind schedule and over budget lol
I only 3d print in petg, but I do want to look into PLA Pro. Have you tried the new PLA variants?
I have a nylon enforced PLA i need to test out more but thats it really
Have you tried a mod1 spur 3d print yet?
I have not! Maybe in the future
I just had the Spur Gear 57T 0.8 on a Big Rock replaced two days ago. Taken our for a single test ride in the park for less than 20 minutes and the new spur gear is already stripped and the car not moving at all :/
I could order new ones, or I also can 3d resin print several - Great thanks for the 3d model!!! ...
but I worry that even a cheap plastic gear shouldn't expire in under 1 battery time, and there might be something else going on that leads to the gear stripped so fast.
Do you guys have any ideas? If that's a typical problem?
I personally don't have experience with rc cars mechanics so any advice is very welcome!
Thanks!
If you ran the truck in a sandy area some sand may have gotten into the housing causing it to strip. Also check your mesh. It may have been too loose or tight from the factory
@@413RC , Thanks for the quick response!
It turned out the motor mounting plate had an issue and can move slightly, which takes the gears out of their optimal positions and makes them grind to each other.
@@blueckaym bingo! Loctite those motor mount screws!
@@413RC , I'm not sure Loctite would fix it (reliably).
But a new(er) motor plate is ordered to fix it better.
Apparently it was known issue that was fixed in the next model (there wasn't next model of the Big Rock when I ordered it but ... anyway :))
Maybe that carbon fiber filament stuff would be strong enough 😯🤷🏻♂️
Once I upgrade the printer we will be trying more filament types!
I wanna see that nylon print.
coming soon for sure!
How has it held up?
Nevermind finished the video lmao
That second one even sounded better (the mesh) well shit that one bit the dust too😂 getting there tho
Would be perfect for some lower power brushed 1/10 stuff or some brushless 1/18 cars.
@@jmurr357 lol! Thanks for watching. Going to try some different materials soon
The video is so cool. friend

Let's get along.
