*Pioneers, there were many groove metal bands formed in the early 90s. Last Crack started like three years before Pantera switched his style, and released a demo in 1987 or 1988, doing progressive groove. The same with Abhorrent, but they had a more thrashy style. Now, there are some other bands that "created" the genre, as Machine Head (they have a thrashy sound too, but they are very often considered groove metal), White Zombie, even Meshuggah. Now, if you might be saying "what? Meshuggah is djent you dumbass", actually, Meshuggah was a technical groove/thrash band, later their started to do shitty djent (because djent sucks!), and they released a demo and an EP in 1989. Pantera is not the inventor of groove metal but one of the pioneers, there was a couple of bands that started doing groove before the release of "Cowboys from Hell", that is considered by many Pantera fans as the first groove metal album ever. I am new to Pantera. My heart has always been in 70´s classic rock, hard rock, art rock, blues, but I also love heavy, or prog metal. But I can´t help myself, Pantera has got me. Ever since I started listening to Pantera, I can't stop. And I can´t listen anything else now :-D. Such a GREAT, ICONIC band. Original, fresh and great - after all those years. Dimebag Darrell is a true guitar legend and master. One of the greatest ever. So sad we will never get more from him and his brother Vinnie. LEGENDARY band.

Damn Vinnie is a beast on the drums.Watching him bang them drums with his sticks on fire. And that one part in the break at the first chorus. He bangs then drums with his sticks on fire while he stands up to hit the symbols is bad ass!
PanterA is still the kings of metal, the most original, heaviest, sickest band of brothers ever! RIP Dime, you are missed by the world of metal, and those you influenced.
Yolife, are you seriously that stupid and manipulated? Heros, Legends, same, either way, and there is no such thing as skydaddy and heaven and shit, wakey-wakey already pathetic sheep.... Life is NOW not later and very very very very sad news to lose the 2 brothers.

I'm a fourteen year old girl and proud to say that this is my favorite song currently (it changes a lot). Thank you, Vinnie, for inspiring to play the drums. I can't yet because my dad won't let me, but you can bet I'm starting lessons once I'm eighteen :)
You have some drum lessons which can be done without drums. Find those excercises on the internet, they will greatlly improve your rhythm and make you fully prepared for the drums when you become 18.
Year 2007, That year I was 10 years old , my dad buy me my first drum kit Pearl. This kit included a DVD with different drummers, and in one part a guy appears playing the drums with fire drumsticks ( 1:07 ) ... That was the moment I met Vinnie Paul and Pantera
When this album came out, no one could convince me this was END of my heroes! I saw them 7 times. Every tour. Bear the scars proudly still. Miss you guys. You were family to so fucking many of us. Best times of my life. Miss, love, each of you. God bless
Still nothing to touch the power and groove that Pantera created , if you want to feel like this then only Pantera can make that happen , what a fantastic legacy to leave for the world 🌎 🤘🤘🤘
Well the thing is I'm assuming you guys are talking about high school but I'm in elementary (4th) and there is not as much metal fans, so sad this music is dying out and Katy Perry crap is mainstream now. R.I.P good music.
I'm glad I was fortunate enough to have a cool Ass big brother who let my listen to his music and hang out with him he killed his self in 99 a day after his 21st bday but when I listen to this its like I'm back in his room hanging out with him miss u Tony RIP
I can’t think of another band whose final album was as vital as their first, especially a band that existed for so long. Reinventing the steel is punishingly heavy. Everything that’s good about metal is on there.

I agree 100%. And that’s one of MANY reasons I love this band so much. It’s always been them since the beginning (other than Phil). They play in sync with each other that other bands just don’t seem to have. And that’s most likely the reason they wouldn’t just replace Phil. If 1 person was gone. The band was gone. I don’t think they could ever build that kind of chemistry with anybody. But back to Rex. He is probably the most underrated bassist that’s ever played. I personally feel like he’s been robbed because of that. Dude is straight god status on the bass.
Still to this day. Without a shadow of a doubt. This band are unmatched. Their legacy will stand the test of time! There is no going back! There will never be again! PANTERA! FOR LIFE!!!
Probrobly THE BEST Metal band who not only survived that grunge trash period but carried tons of bands with them and saw their way through it. I feel like Lamb Of God picked up that torch and ran with it in a very Goliath way but the songwriting and tone will never match Dime and Vinnie's chemistry. AND like another commentator said... Anselmo was a monster and Rex Brown remains underrated. Precious memories... I seen PANTERA 7 times and I feel so lucky. Peace be with you all! Revolution is our name....
This is my favorite Pantera song by a large margin. I love several of their songs but this song just hits different. This was my light bulb song for metal as a young man
One of my biggest regrets in life and this with God as my witness, is only seeing Pantera live one time. One thing I am eternally grateful to God for is that I was able to see Pantera at least once and never having to regret never having seeing them. Verbal and written communication can NOT describe how great Pantera was.

I can't help the way I am
There's no trust and there's no end
What is my name?
It will never change
So here it stays
Forever is my name
From now on, can't look the other way
Keep in mind and listen to what I say
Take under wing all the ones who are lost
Build up around them an infinite wall
Don't you know just who I am?
Take the hand of wisdom's friend
What is my name?
It's time to change
It can't stay the same
Revolution is my name
It will never change
So here it stays
Forever is my name
What is my name?
What is my name?
What is my name?
What is my name?
Forever...
What is my name?
What is my name?

I am new to Pantera. My heart has always been in 70´s classic rock, hard rock, art rock, blues, but I also love heavy, or prog metal. But I can´t help myself, Pantera has got me. Ever since I started listening to Pantera, I can't stop. And I can´t listen anything else now :-D. Such a GREAT, ICONIC band. Original, fresh and great - after all those years. Dimebag Darrell is a true guitar legend and master. One of the greatest ever. So sad we will never get more from him and his brother Vinnie. LEGENDARY band.
FIRST TIME I HEARD PANTERA COULDN'T TAKE HEADPHONES OFF FOR 36 HOURS STRAIGHT
SLEPT WITH THOSE FUKERS ON MY HEAD SOAKING IT ALL IN
YOU FOUND THE BEST METAL EVER HEARD BY MANKIND
Happy 19th birthday to reinventing the steel ❤️
Definitely.

Hopefully with a live DVD. Not holding my breath tho.
Integrity101 I’m so glad to hear that. I definitely will be getting it as soon as it comes out :)
20!! # Dimebag
R.I.P Vinnie (1964 - FOREVER). Your legacy will live forever.
The whole band deserves credit for never selling out. One of the last and the best. Times will never be the same.
Fav song, fav band, fav album, fav music video.
This is the best guitar playing I've ever heard. Dimebag absolutely shreds it.
simple as
Thats real now....str8up. Nobody like Pantera.

Possibly this is the song that made me discover Pantera...thank you for everything. R.i.p Dime and sadly today R.i.p Vinnie, now you're back together...
After all these years I still get goosebumps every time I hear this song.
My favourite band of all time & Dime is & will always be my favourite guitar player. It was so sad what happened to him… he really didn’t deserve it. RIP Dime & Vinnie.
that riff is seriously fucking underrated! This should be right up there with walk in my opinion.
Agreed
yeah, especially the ones at 2:55!
u are right my man a very underrated riff an song altogether badass grove
The verse riff is one of my favourite dime riffs, so fuckin' badass
Steven McKnight IMO its better !!!
3:58 Reinventing the Steel Album Cover
And this is why you give your child a guitar at a very early age
Such a good song. Still think they still are together R.I.P. Dimebag Darrel and Vinne Paul. LEGENDS
Damn Vinnie is a beast on the drums.Watching him bang them drums with his sticks on fire. And that one part in the break at the first chorus. He bangs then drums with his sticks on fire while he stands up to hit the symbols is bad ass!
1:15
PanterA is still the kings of metal, the most original, heaviest, sickest band of brothers ever! RIP Dime, you are missed by the world of metal, and those you influenced.
Rest in peace, Vinnie. At least he's rockin with Dime again up in Heaven.
Hope so...
stupid religitards, stop this nonsense, it is awful already to know we lost the 2 brothers.
Yolife, are you seriously that stupid and manipulated? Heros, Legends, same, either way, and there is no such thing as skydaddy and heaven and shit, wakey-wakey already pathetic sheep.... Life is NOW not later and very very very very sad news to lose the 2 brothers.
Yeah "as far as your believe" lol bingo exactly..
^ LMFAO triggered much you brainwashed manipulated pathetic sheep? There are no skydaddies + every religicult is an issue which poisons, ruins this planet, so stfu already! So hard already losing these amazing Artists - and no fn need for the rest of the bullcrap. Don't you dare talking about respecting a shit which kills, ruins, violates, oppresses, every day innocent lives, again if you think just 1 religion is BS than you are even more brainwashed. Get help, and books, many of them (not just 1-2).
Pantera saved metal. Scott Ian said himself. This fucking band changed my life.
+Cain Stanyer not scott ian everyone even mustin james etc they all agreed to that
I'm not much on Scott Ian but if your for Pantera your cool with me....
My favorite Scott Ian comment was when he said if anyone ever sold their souls to the Devil it was Journey...cuz how did that crap become so popular?😂
Such a good combination of metal, hardcore, actual vocal melodies and hooks. The total package has a really clean and presentable feeling
Dimebag+Schuldiner= Gods of Metal
Lord Chuck
They both were talented. Chuck created death metal, Pantera created like a groove metal kind of, but harder lol
Smokedout_Snake Beef ..dime was really seriously on a huge bevel LEVEL!!..he was super talented!!👹👹😈😈🔥🔥..his skills..and tone!! no one has that TODAY!!
@Dawn Razor he pioneered it
@Dawn Razor Yep I just said he pioneered it
He was one of the important guys
I'm a fourteen year old girl and proud to say that this is my favorite song currently (it changes a lot). Thank you, Vinnie, for inspiring to play the drums. I can't yet because my dad won't let me, but you can bet I'm starting lessons once I'm eighteen :)
power to you 🤘🏻
anthracks
Keep trying to convince your father, learning musical instrumentation does the body+mind a lot of good.
You have some drum lessons which can be done without drums. Find those excercises on the internet, they will greatlly improve your rhythm and make you fully prepared for the drums when you become 18.
Cool
Hey, fellow kid who is a Pantera fan! Hell yeah!!
Still blasting pantera to this day. Since 2006 for me
About 97 for me one of my favorites ever
Same here,,,,,land o' lakes,wi............forever St.DIME.
R.I.P. Vinnie and Dime you guys were my inspiration to pick up an instrument so Rock on Dime and Vinnie \m/
When this album came out, no one could convince me this was END of my heroes! I saw them 7 times. Every tour. Bear the scars proudly still. Miss you guys. You were family to so fucking many of us. Best times of my life. Miss, love, each of you. God bless
playing with your drumsticks on fire. How do you get more fucking metal than that?!
You dont
+r tee Or you could watch and listen to a real metal drummer like Mario Duplantier not some turd like Joey Jordison.....
+Heretic Just playing the fucking music and not being a poser. That's more metal.
***** You can't argue with Peart but Jordison is nowhere near Duplantier's skill....
And he's not just fast unless u know shit about drumming.
Still nothing to touch the power and groove that Pantera created , if you want to feel like this then only Pantera can make that happen , what a fantastic legacy to leave for the world 🌎 🤘🤘🤘
There will never be another Pantera. They were untouchable. Thanks for the memories. Cheers!
RIP Vinnie, now reunited with your brother !
Moisés Alvarez A. Vinnie, dimebag, dio and Lemmy are having a good time now playing classics eternally
It hurts. They started something original!
Looking for someone in my school that has respect for this KICK ASS music!
+Drunken Punk 800 same here homie
+Sam B go to my school, we have arround 16 Pantera fans
Me too broo
Well the thing is I'm assuming you guys are talking about high school but I'm in elementary (4th) and there is not as much metal fans, so sad this music is dying out and Katy Perry crap is mainstream now. R.I.P good music.
One of the best riffs I've ever heard in the opener.
I'm glad I was fortunate enough to have a cool Ass big brother who let my listen to his music and hang out with him he killed his self in 99 a day after his 21st bday but when I listen to this its like I'm back in his room hanging out with him miss u Tony RIP
Fuck man, stay strong and keep on rocking
CHRISTOPHER FERGUSON Sorry for your loss. Keep rocking brother🤘🤘
This hit me hard
CHRISTOPHER FERGUSON ....sorry for your loss man....hang in there my fellow Pantera friend
This cow bell is killer!
R.I.P. Dimebag & Vinnie
Best metal band of all time
I have total Respect for Pantera. They become what they were out of hard work and ambition. These guys were the real thing. Bad ass to the bone!
I heard Pantera on fairly mainstream radio today. Life is good.
What song?
@@rXHrzn Revolution is my name
I can’t think of another band whose final album was as vital as their first, especially a band that existed for so long. Reinventing the steel is punishingly heavy. Everything that’s good about metal is on there.
Recuerdo como me voló la cabeza este tema cuando los había escuchado hace añares.... Me sigue volando la cabeza, pero me llena de nostalgia que ya no estén
This is the best heavy metal ever.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the other music videos from pantera. But there’s something so wholesome about this one. Just a bunch of dudes at the top of their careers, jamin together. Just like how they started early on
Can't believe Paul drummed so hard he set the sticks on fire. RIP
They definitely incorporated some aspects of baroque classical music into this piece. Dime was so talented.
pantera just hits different... everytime u hear a track you just wanna put the volume up and headbang or tap your foot along 😅
Rest In Peace Vinnie, at last you're with your brother

Enough metal here to rebuild OceanGate LMAO jk
Reinventing The Steel turns 21 Today!
Rex’s tone is absolute beast. Just listen to that slide 3:06
RedHotSlik he is underrated
Finnaly a comment that apritiate rex .
Alot of Panteras groove comes from Rex's bass
I agree 100%. And that’s one of MANY reasons I love this band so much. It’s always been them since the beginning (other than Phil). They play in sync with each other that other bands just don’t seem to have. And that’s most likely the reason they wouldn’t just replace Phil. If 1 person was gone. The band was gone. I don’t think they could ever build that kind of chemistry with anybody. But back to Rex. He is probably the most underrated bassist that’s ever played. I personally feel like he’s been robbed because of that. Dude is straight god status on the bass.
SliK its sounds so good 🤤Rex is so underrated as a bass player
Still to this day. Without a shadow of a doubt. This band are unmatched. Their legacy will stand the test of time! There is no going back! There will never be again! PANTERA! FOR LIFE!!!
Bendito sea el día en el que Pantera encontró su verdadero estilo 🖤
PANTERA IS NOT A PERSON DORK!
Pantera blessed the day he found style vs truths' truth!!
This band never gets old
one of the most powerful metal bands ever
00:00 the first time I heard this riff..I! lost! my! mind!! its such a friggin' ..perfect! and awesome! guitar riff!!

I barely realized the old man in black is David Allen Coe. He's at 1:45 and 3:09 shooting firework. They made an album called Rebel Meets Rebel.
I'd been wondering who the cool old man in the video was for a while. I really appreciate your comment lol
Man to see everyone young, having fun and rocking out just brings tears to my eyes.
Definitely the best Pantera album. Every single song kicks ass!
I love how Phil becomes more intense each time he screams "what is my name?" At 3:14
Listening this with headphones. Priceless
Antifa punks probaly shit their pants
Probrobly THE BEST Metal band who not only survived that grunge trash period but carried tons of bands with them and saw their way through it. I feel like Lamb Of God picked up that torch and ran with it in a very Goliath way but the songwriting and tone will never match Dime and Vinnie's chemistry. AND like another commentator said... Anselmo was a monster and Rex Brown remains underrated. Precious memories... I seen PANTERA 7 times and I feel so lucky. Peace be with you all! Revolution is our name....
We all got opinions but a GOOD BAND THAT MAKES GOOD ROCK PANTERA,GRUNGE,WHATEVERS GOOD
Rex always needed more recognition
That little Mini-Dime is awesome. \,,/
Darth Chop gotta wonder what he looks like now!
Alex Smith hes dead
Eric_472 44444 He means the young actor that played Dimebag as a kid in this video
Norseman_ _ all I know is he's gotta have an epic metal beard by now, unless puberty has stricken him bald
anybody knows the actor's name? :D
This is my favorite Pantera song by a large margin. I love several of their songs but this song just hits different. This was my light bulb song for metal as a young man
The opening riff is metal at its best
Love the Black Sabbath influences on this song.
Best dead band in the world!
Dead band??
U mean Half Band
RIP VINNIE AND DIMEBAG
Best band in the world

One of my biggest regrets in life and this with God as my witness, is only seeing Pantera live one time. One thing I am eternally grateful to God for is that I was able to see Pantera at least once and never having to regret never having seeing them. Verbal and written communication can NOT describe how great Pantera was.
