    I watched the scaff hook failure video you linked here. I agree with your comment. Thank you for making this tower climbing video, you covered the big issues with the hook loading. Great job once again. Jim H.

    Thanks for posting so much free information. It is an amazing resource as I get deeper into my rope access career to have a source to look to for additional information and reminders.

    I was wondering, do I still need the 'Veilig werken op hoogte' certificate if I get IRATA? As similar techniques pass in the IRATA course I was thinking about skipping the first one and go directly to IRATA

      If you have irata you’ll be set. No need for werken op hoogte. If an employer asks for that they don’t understand irata and/or werken op hoogte. (GWO training comes to mind here…🙄)

      All the L1 exercises are o the channel. Is there something you are looking for more specifically?

    I was under the impression that only 3ft lanyards like the ASAP should be used on the sternal ring, and lanyards that are longer must be attached to the dorsal ring. Perhaps this is just an American standard?

    • @TheRopeAccessChannel
      @TheRopeAccessChannel  Рік тому

      Sternal and dorsal are for fall arrest systems. Like the ASAP or twin lanyards. By the way, the longest asapsorber is 40 cm or 1ft and a bit, not 3ft.
      Where you attach is up to you. Length does not change that. Might be an industry bias not an American standard. The EN numbers on the gear will tell how to use it. Maybe it is an American standard I am not aware of. It would not make any sense to me it were.

      I was always unsure of this. I just took the SPRAT fall protection class and this was covered. According to the American OSHA requirement if free fall potential is less than 2 feet the sternal connection can be used. Here is the regulation: 1910.140(c)(22)
      Personal fall protection systems must be worn with the attachment point of the body harness located in the center of the employee's back near shoulder level. The attachment point may be located in the pre-sternal position if the free fall distance is limited to 2 feet (0.6 m) or less.

    Do you have a link to the video of the hook being sheared when loaded improperly?

      Yes, I thought I had put it in the description. And now it definitely is.

      I don't have my own. I'm a freelance contract climber. I film this at Industrieel Klimmen where I am the Technical Authority for everything IRATA. The links are in almost all the video descriptions.
