Great man and leader of the brave. These are special stories that need to be heard. Thanks for your service brother it certainly sounds like divine intervention was a part of these missions.
I watch a lot of these interviews posted by various groups here on UA-cam because hearing the stories told by such men is so very important to pay tribute to our veterans, and also to understand our history. This particular interview is one of the very best I’ve seen. Mr. Ballard and millions of others like him who serve now or have in the past are a large part of why our country is great. Thank you Sir, and welcome home!
Me too. Check out the ones done by the Atlanta History Center. The interviewers are much more to my liking and are usually vets who have a clue about what they are asking.
Thank you for your military and peace officer service. Nothing is more world changing then people , whom make better people. And to our host. Bless you on your kindness and respect. Your love shines thru.
I have watched many of these Vietnam vet interviews, my uncle was severely disabled in the war. I also served in navy in 2000's. It is very interesting to note the differences of how enlisted men and officers talk about the war; officers usually discuss the war in terms of dates, facts , and missions very matter-of-factly. However, enlisted men talk about the horrors of the war and friends that they lost.
You Are Among The BEST AMERICAN MEN Who Shall Ever Live! I entirely thank Your Heroic Total Commitment to Destroy Murderous Communist Atheist Extortionist Criminals! God Bless YOU and ALL who served in Southeast Asia with You!
Mom you live me go back home huhuhuhu now im along huuu where my father where my family father steve tommy do you no your son looking you for long time but now evething is over hujuujmom im sorry mom huhuhu
Another Vietnam veteran who felt he needed to go "Hollywood" for the sake of history. This IS the history. The US fought an illegal war in Vietnam, the US never declaring war against Vietnam. This guy was essentially an imperialistic invader and aggressor in someone else's country that did nothing to Americans or the US. Every guy had a choice to engage in that BAD and STUPID war. The Draft is used as an excuse for many. The assertin that they "had to do, what they had to do" is both BS and actually cowardly. The US lost the war, and it wasn't just the politicians and people back home who were responsibile for that. Militarily they simply didn't get the job done. It was an Asian civil war to be fought and settled by Asians.
You don’t have a clue what the hell you’re talking about. This man fought in a war. This is his story. Your politics and reasons have nothing to do with his story. The war was stupid. That much you got right. But that blame of stupidity is entirely on the political level of the US Government. His government ordered him to go fight and that’s what he did. Fuck the reasons and fuck the politics. This is his story. He was there for his men and his men are all that mattered. Your comment is a true indication that you have never served a day in your life and you have no true sense of what this man is trying to speak of and what he’s been through. What’s done is done. America should have never been in Vietnam. However, this man did his damn best and somehow lived to tell the tale of those he served with who didn’t make it. Keep your political bullshit out of this. Maybe you can time travel 50 years and go protest the Vietnam war if that makes you feel better. But don’t you dare say a word against this man who’s courage and love for his men shows a stronger level of character than either of us.
I’m sorry you feel this way, hopefully your not an American citizen. I would hate for the greatest country in the world to be blessed with the misfortune of harboring your sorry, ungrateful, waste of oxygen that your life is.
@@KeithWilliamMacHendry I'll get a real job when you get a real education and learn how to write. What a trailer trash. I''m a proud Vietnam/Draft resistor. It was guys like you that went to Vietnam...and smart guys like me that did not.
There are many inspiring stories. This is perhaps the greatest.

I wonder how many officers got silver medals deserved by the real fighters.

Went to fort Ord in 1966 never saw much of the base spinal meningitis was going on so you were pretty much in quarantine went to Vietnam in 67 and 68
Oh my. Its early 2021, the whole planet is pinned down by something less than a micro-organism.
What a bullshit artist
This guy said he went to ranger school, yet he never went to jump school. This is impossible.
Not in 1966.
This guy doesn`t sound very organised.., Imagine him under real stress. VC probably even knew this guy was on R*R before this fight at FB.
What do you know about being in the service let alone deployed to a war ?

This is the dumbest, least informed statement I have seen. Find you another country!
