So true. Especially not to judge a person's life, whether they live or die is not our position of judgement to take away a life.

Great explanation man! Yeah I think we need more spirtually sound judgement in church for sure. We need more confrontation with the sin in our churches

We can and should call out sin. We should stand for righteousness and godliness. We should defend the weak and vulnerable.
But there’s a massive difference between judging arrogantly and judging with humility.
Perhaps some might sneer and ridicule another saying, “What a despicable, vile, weak person.”
A humble judgement says, “Apart from the redemption of Jesus, I’d be joining them, and apart from God, I would lose my salvation. ”
Pride says, “I would never do something like that.”
Considerate judgment says, “Though I may not struggle as they do, I sin against Jesus in 10,000 other ways.”
Arrogant sinful judgment says, “I’m better than them.”
Humble judgment says, “We both need Christ.”
Sin never comes out of nowhere.
Compassionate judgment seeks to stay faithful to the Bible and also love the person who struggles. It strives to identify the speck in someone else’s eye while simultaneously trying to rip the log out of my own.

I very much appreciate this comment. I would only add, we have to rip out the log BEFORE we can see clearly to deal with our brothers’ speck. As I’m sure you’d agree, from the spirit of your comment.

5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
This means judge rightly. Clean your soul first then you can see clearly thru your eye.

Not everyone references this chapter to silence others. I reference it to talk about hypocrisy and the inherent bias that pervades the process of judging. The "log" obstructs our view. We often focus on the faults of others based on a warped perception of who they are or what they do. Yes, we are commanded to adhere to higher laws of conduct. But we can't always know for sure if we are on the right path in response to others behavior. That's where faith comes in. We must proceed with caution and humility.

If you’ve spent any time studying that Bible verse, you know that when Jesus said, “Judge not that ye be not judged,” he wasn’t saying that we can’t evaluate whether someone’s choices are wrong.
Jesus did that himself on a regular basis.
Jesus says we should examine ourselves, to see if we are still in the light.
Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.
Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged and Held Accountable
It’s a terrifying thing to think of God judging me based on the way I judge others.
So often, my judgment lacks mercy. It lacks compassion. And it lacks knowledge (the actual facts).
Do I want to be judged by God and others with the same standard? No! That would be crushing.
This is why Jesus warns about the dangers of judging others. If we’re not careful, we’re going to end up being judged by our own crushing standards.

    Beatitudes-Blessed are:
    Poor in Spirit vs. proud
    Meek vs. forceful & aggressive
Hungry & Thrist for Righteousness vs. seeking your own pleasures
    Merciful vs. vengeful
Pure in Heart vs. evil heart
Peace Makers vs. looking for a fight

    Well put Pastor Jon 👍🏼

  • @servingjesussinnersavedbyg8456

I 🧡 my Pastor. He is a man who stands for truth, and does good, lives a godly life and rightly divides God's word. I am sure he and the pastors on staff would deflect such praise; today's topic - he is spot-on.
It's typical of what is going on, pushing the line, blaming another of what they are guilty of, and trying to look like the good guy of the day. That is called "gaslighting". They will bring you down anyway they can like a football lineman. Just like the 1984 Orwell book, there is more double-speak today in a culture that redefines language daily.
Jon is right, it’s one of the most misused, misquoted, misunderstood verses in the Bible.
When someone wants to "justify their life choices (sins)" to you, they pull out their trump card, “Judge not, lest ye be judged!”
    Then they drop the mic…
…expecting you to immediately embrace the fact that they want to get divorced, have an affair, be a man, be a woman, be a goat, marry a goat, sell goats…whatever.
What Jon says here is right, they want to take away your right, yet usurp their own.
Judgment begins at the house of God, but for those who don't get it, sit down at a restaurant, you are presented 3 plates, one is a juicy steak w all the fixings, the other is raw octopus just tossed on the plate, the last is a cooked rodent or rattlesnake. Now, which one would you choose? No matter what plate, you have made a judgment.
We make judgments every day in our lives, it is part of living in this fishbowl of tests and trials.
We are being watched, now by more eyes than ever. Before it was just the Lord, those you hung around with and gained a reputation from afar, the enemy called the devil, not w a traditional red-skinned tan and pitchfork, but now you have cameras. Did you know the average American is caught on camera in 2021 at least 250x a week?
Big Brother is watching, Big Brother is judging, and for them, if governance (theirs not God's) is not in compliance neither will your credit score to participate in society will be. So when one says - don't judge me, beware of their "gaslighting" tactics.

I SAY... Matthew 7:1 - "Judge not, lest ye be judged", should say, "PRE-JUDGE not, lest ye be PRE-JUDGED." Judging someone is not wrong. It's PRE-JUDGING that's wrong. Humans judge humans all the time. All you have to do is walk into any courtroom to see that. If I see you steal my car and I judge you to be a thief that is NOT wrong or sinful of me. But if my car is stolen and you LOOK like someone who might have stolen it - and based on that I declare you to BE a thief - THEN I am pre-judging you and that IS wrong.
