Fijian and Australian engineers working together

Australian and Fijian military engineers came together in Fiji recently to build a bridge, share skills, knowledge and a few laughs as part of Exercise Coral Sapper 2022.
Eight Australian Army engineers from 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment deployed to Fiji from mid-March to April 2022 to work side-by-side with their Republic of Fiji Military Forces counterparts building a new bridge at Queen Elizabeth Barracks in Suva.
The 26-metre-long pedestrian footbridge construction project was an opportunity for Army engineers to use techniques not commonly employed in the Australian Defence Force, improve their skills and learn from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces engineers who commonly use these building methods.
Exercise Coral Sapper is part of the Coral Warrior exercise series - an annual, bi-lateral training engagement activity with the Republic of Fiji Military Forces aimed at enhancing relationships and the capability of both the Australian and Fijian militaries.
