    Remogat for me is both a baller and a bolero.
    Baller for going to a better team/competition (and ofc 💰)
    Bolero for denying the rumors but then basically made it true.

    It is really more of why the star players who were once playing under UE's banner chose to leave rather than the school who recruit them. Maybe the reason why they went to UE in the first place is a situation containing a non-guaranteed 3 to 4 playing years, and just playing for 1 year and we-will-see-if-I-will-be-happy-here type of thing. If the institution has no fixed program to help the player based on the standards on what should a varsity player must have nowadays, then you cannot blame the player if he will leave.

      Exactly the point we made as to getting the real reason why Remogat left. Is it Jack Santiago? I hope we get clarity
      However, i still maintain that this is a bit shortsighted by UP and Bo Perasol. I want to see them develop the abundance of talent that they have rather than collect and select - Gab

    My opinion is to change the rules if a player wants to move from one UAAP school to another. If they are in top 10 of the MVP race, instead of 1 year it would be 2 years just to make it still fair for players in the bench that probably want change.

      Nope. These are student-athletes. Student first, athlete 2nd. And any student has the freedom to choose the school he wants.to enroll in, even as a transferee

      A bit harsh ata ito. It's still up to the student if he want to transfer. We can't penalize them for having the freedom to choose. Wala namang contracts sa UAAP

    Shout out to Bo Perasol for getting the best recruits, high profile transferees, top level FSAs, all to keep UP in the top echelon of the UAAP and build a winning culture ever since he arrived. Imagine getting MVP FSA Bright Akuhuetie, MVP FSA Malick Diouf, Kobe Paras, Ricci Rivero, Juan and Javi GDL, James Spencer, Carl Tamayo, Zavier Lucero, all the other NU boys (Abadiano, Fortea, Alarcon, Torres, Felicilda), JD Cagulangan, CJ Cansino, Cyril Torres, Henry Galinato, Lebron Lopez, Sean Alter, now Stevens and Remogat......wow, the best of the best, such a boatload of talent!
    And all he's got to show for all this abundance and embarrassment of pure basketball talent is one, miracle shot-delivered championship.
    Maybe he should try this new concept instead of just stacking up talent by all means possible. It's something called PLAYER DEVELOPMENT. But yeah, I guess that's the coach's job, something he was never really good at.

      They have money to burn lol
      As franz pumaren once said, where else can you gather thousands of alumni in one venue? In the case of up, it's not really for revenues/enrollment bec they're govt-funded and remains the top school of choice for college applicants. It's more for alumni funding and involvement in the various programs and activities of the school. Hence as long as the alums are happy and continue to follow a top contending maroons program (champs or not) they will continue to open their wallets to support other programs of the school. At least that one important goal is met lol

    Hi Sam, Maui, and Gab! Thanks again for a timely and interesting discussion. These are my contributions.
    1) UP obviously recruited Remogat because it was not able to retain Bahay.
    2) The goal of UP is to win the UAAP championship. And to achieve this, it is recruiting the best athlete available; then mix them with the incumbents to determine who will be best to play. A number of people may argue with the results but be aware that in the last five years, UP has been to the Final Four; four of those seasons to the championship. In the 19 seasons previous to this: ZERO.
    A similar strategy is being employed by the DLSU women's volleyball team. They also get the best volleyball players; such that their second team can probably defeat the two lower ranked teams in the UAAP. As a result, they have won 8 championships in the last 13 seasons.

    • @rodolfolucerojr6189
      @rodolfolucerojr6189 7 місяців тому

      Stiil low percentage.of winning a championship you have just mentioned UP in the finals for the last five UAAP edition yet only winning a single championship with such a strong line up could it be problem of so many superstars in one team

    • @fredtacang3624
      @fredtacang3624 7 місяців тому

      You're not wrong in your assessment of up's current strategy, as both dlsu and admu have been doing the same for several decades already: get the best recruits from wherever possible, overseas included, to produce the best results. And perhaps there's the rub. As you mentioned, results. They're the 2 winningest programs in the modern era (complete 8 teams)
      Several seasons into this current track of bo/gold, and they've only won 1 crown so far. Let's see if things change for them, but my view is least likely it will. With at the very least, the resurgence of dlsu

    • @msmelvel
      @msmelvel 7 місяців тому

      Wag niyo compare ang UP sa DLSU volleyball team please. It’s a program with multiple championships and has NEVER poached a player from another UAAP college team.

    Amidst all of these off-season intramurals, sa tingin ko back-to-back dlsu. Esp if they finally get another mbala-level FSA. Probable season sweep pag ganun
    Up/admu will again duel for runner-up honors. Interesting to see if uste will round out the top 4

    • @bolerosph
      @bolerosph  7 місяців тому +1

      Can’t argue with you on that. They still have the reigning MVP and will probably get a better FSA. The only question for me is the PG slot. They were capable of matching UP’s guards because of the depth they had last year with Nelle, David and Nonoy. 2/3 are gone now. They also lost Estacio who showed glimpses in the previous season. So it’s up to David and unproven guys so far. David is solid and I expect him to raise his game next season, but I don’t think he’s Evan Nelle level yet. - Sam

    • @CarloRago
      @CarloRago 7 місяців тому +1

      Agree with Sam. As much as how great a player KQ is; he will need a Nelle type of point guard. Hopefully, they can develop Macalalang. Their FSA is not Mbala level. Its either Nowangko or Agunane. Suggest you watch Pinoyliga.

      Am too engrossed with the bigs, basketball being a "big man's sport", that I neglected the guards lol. But more than the roster, I'm also looking at the coaching minds behind each program. So far, it's been topex/caloy > gold/bo > tab/sandy. I doubt it'll change in a year's time but yes juno sauler would be a great addition to uste. Perhaps playing the role of caloy to pido's topex

      Thanks for the tidbits. Would love to see how the rosters will look like in S87, but as things stand, I'll give the edge to dlsu
      On KQ though, it would be interesting to see how much he can create plays for himself, with or w/o an excellent backcourt orchestrating for him. Basically, can he take over the game and be the go-to guy no matter what

    Hi Gab, Sam and Maui.
    I think just to be fair enough with Coach Jack!
    I think I assumed that since Noy is from Gen trias, Cavite. And we all know that Remulla is one of the backer of UP. As I've seen Noy with VMayor Sison of Gentri few weeks before the rumor spread. I think we all know that there is always money involved.
    As Maui said Remogat just secures the bag. 💰
    And as Noy qouted
    "But now it's time for me to make a decision for what my family needs and where I can grow as an athlete. This decision is not easy, but it is a necessary step in my journey. After careful consideration with my family and loved ones, I believe the next step of my career is playing for the UP Fighting Maroons in Season 88-89," he added.

    During the early 2000's, yung lipatan from UAAP to anither UAAP school was due to lack of playing time or simply because of a rift between teammates, coaches or team mgt. Dito kay Remogat at Cortez taena, maliwanag na maliwanag may $$$$$$$ na factor. Kagaguhan lang yung dream school kasi nila yan taena. Eh di sana jan na sila rumekta kahit hindi na sila varsity. Dapat kasi para maging pantay yun playing field top 7 players based on statistical points for each team sa end ng season meron 3 year residency. This is to discourage players mapa UAAP or NCAA na lumipat. Di naman nila pwede sabihin na di sila binigyan ng playing time or if dadahilan nila gusto nila yun course sa kabilang school di tumtutok nalang sila sa academics. The rest wala na residency para yun magagaling na binagko lang makapaglaro agad at mabigyan ng chance. Marami school na hanggang 3rd string pwede starter sa ibang team. Yan fair yan sa mga school na namuhunan ng maaga and sa mga players na hindi nabigyan ng chance.
