He seemed pretty athletic to me.
He was pulling rabbits out his ass bouncing up and down the court.
Theres going to be sacrifices made if your going master all trades.
Another thing nobody mentions is the difference of the technology and quality of filming now.
I really would love to see modern ball filmed using the same tech from the 80s.
Even if you put filters to make it look old now it was still captured by some shit were you can see a bead of sweat drip in real time. 🤔

I remember when I wen t to see this guy play back in the day at Madison Square Garden when the Celtics played my team, the Knicks. Some of the things Bird did would make your jaw drop. As we exited the building after the game, you could see and hear people mutter under their breath, "That damn Larry Bird. Damn..." LOL.

You kept your eye on Bird at all times. Didn't matter if he didn't have the ball on offense, you still see him working. On Defense he was deadly off the ball. I remember the plays he did where you had wait for the replay to see actually what happened.
If you're a Knicks fan you probably remember him finishing off the Knicks in the playoffs, he was like 15-20 from the field and after the game, Knicks coach Hubie Brown said he killed us with his defense.

@@RobSportsCenter The one thing not mentioned in the guy's video was Bird's clutch moments. And the one thing Bird's numbers don't ALWAYS show is that he more times than not made shots when they were needed, towards the end. I know, not always but a good number times. And with him, it wouldn't always be a "score" when needed.
I saw, on TV, the NCAA tourny at the time, then the final game, Michigan vs Indiana, both State. Of course, Michigan had the Much better TEAM. Funny thing was, I wasn't impressed with Magic at the time. I liked his teammate, Greg Kelsar, better and thought he would be the guy to go far, not Magic. "All Magic does is throw lobs to the guy. Another good choice Rob. I saw this video awhile back so my memory on his math will be sporadic at best, but more generalizing. His math formula is suggestive. He's using a denominator to get the results he wants. He also contradicts himself. I do remember looking up Larry's playoff points compared to his regular season average. They were pretty much the same in points assists and rebounds. In the finals against the Rockets Bird averaged 24 points 9.7 rebounds and 9.5 assists that is sooo close to a triple double for the Finals!! Game 6 Larry had 29 pts. 11 rbs and 12 assists. The number guy is trashing Birds playoff success because all he's looking at is numbers. Against the Pistons in 1988, Bird had terrible playoff numbers. But what's not on the score sheet is Bird had bone spurs in both feet and his back trashed. Of course Bird wouldn't let anyone know. Every other player on the planet would not have played. They wouldn't be able to walk. The Legend had surgery on both feet and missed the 1989 season.

No, it is not a tall tale. Bird was predominantly a right-handed shooter. He had a strong left hand, but was not fully ambidextrous. There was no game in his entire career in which he had as many left-handed points as that Blazers game, so for it to be uniquely coined a “left-handed game” is accurate.

    • @marksharbono8375
      @marksharbono8375 2 роки тому

Great and so true,I mean he called it, I never saw Bird use his Left and unless he made a play to use it,and looks totally ambidextrous wheypassing with left hand but this came from a work ethic I’ve never seen before or after, but when he had to use it or meant to- he usually made a lot of NBA players (NBA PLAYERS-Yep) look foolish-Not most explosive, fast, or leapedr but his court vision, positioning in both O and D rebounds, absurd assists, good defense and EXTRASENSORY PERCEPTION ON THE COURT WAS JUST UNBELIEVABLE! All around- The Legend, most dynamic and scoring/defense-MJ,Best point -Magicwith a close second to Stockton, greatest defense, blocked shots at center Russell but Kareem a close second, and last but not least-Powr Forward-Lebron James- My top 5-Mark Sharbono

I’m not thrilled with this guy’s analysis…while he says much that is true, and some that is positive, I think he has a bias AGAINST Bird….
Yes this is a video about Birds GOAT candidacy, but he dings Larry unfairly in my opinion, by showing a few missed layups as if that were representative of Larry’s layup performance, and it most certainly is NOT. As you watch more of his videos you see he MAKES those layups, and he does it in traffic! Reverse layups too. Larry said himself he was into degree of difficulty, and took (and MADE) those impossible shots BECAUSE they were impossible!
Just trust your EYES. Larry passes the EYE TEST. I firmly believe Larry was one of a kind. Could do it all, from anywhere, against ANYONE.

He was the greatest all around player that ever hit the court-assists rebounds, scoring 3 pointer but the biggie to me , I wish they would have kept last second shots for the win , tie, or to go into OT- In his era he hit more game winning tiring, go into OT B( BY FAR THAN ANYONE IN THELEAGUE, USUALLY DOUBLE TEAMED AND HARD , hard shots, not bunnies/ and 3”-50% of the time letting the opposition where, how, and the move he’d make daring them to try and stop him- remember this is with Jordan, pippin, Magic,K.Malone,, George Gervin, Stockton, Bernard King, Dr.J,, Moe Cheeks, even (although the last 2 years in the league with Pistol Pete Maravich)-,there’s so many great outside shooters instead this time in the league , I ‘de have to type till my arm fell off, but probably the most impressive of all to myself is his ability to make each and everyone of his teammates, the Chief and Mchale both laughed when they said if it weren’t for Larry and the unselfish, sometimes unbelievable passes they’d have only scored 50% of the total points their both credited for, but both men as you could tell were Laughing at his greatness which was awe-inspiring,,Bird once said he would rather get a great assist than score himself, ha ha, as long as he got the last shot!! You guys in your generation got sold this myth that the game is so much more athletic. Its really not, but what it lacks, are teams built with no weakness.
The Bulls were the first team to win consistent rings without a presence in the middle. The original small ball and length team.
Larry was a glue stick for a world champ. Whatever was needed, is what he would do. That could change as the game unfolded. Multiple times.
He was easily one of the smartest players without the ball. With the ball he was an assassin.
I can say todays game has more individual athletes, but 100% not as many great players. You could be a great athlete back then, and not even last a year in the NBA. See Harold Minor.
The people who made their name in the 80s and 90sran the gambit from athletic to smart, but they were all great players. All athletes aren't great players.
And even with the argument that today's NBA is more athletic, Michael Jordan is still clearly the best athlete to ever grace an NBA court. You can watch 5 minutes of any of his highlight reels and get that.
