Station doesn’t have much defence underneath though. Space is 3D and all.
Space station actually looks ok. Finding a good color scheme can be tough ... at least it is for me.
It is also tough for me to find a decent color scheme. I've been looking into color scheme generators or apps to play around with some new schemes.
Just a thought on missile defence, you could place interior turrets around points on the station and set them to target missiles only. It will allow you to have your gatling turrets focus on enemy ships and they tend to be more accurate at greater distances as well. Down side is you will have to manually load them.

I was wondering are you going to make a ship specifically for asteroid mining also have you heard anything about them making a console version yet.
