Back in the 80’s we would rent VHS tapes of Gordon Eastman’s hunt the high country and others, I always enjoyed watching his videos and considered them the best and I can say the same for Mike Eastman’s videos, Thanks for the great information and entertainment through the years , Wes from Idaho 👍🇺🇸
That happened to me one late season in northern Wisconsin. Pretty scary situation when it 20 below and a mile from the truck, before cell phones. Love the stories, keep em coming!
I live a little west of that area. What times to be a trophy deer hunter back then. Bucks could get old and gray with the little amount of hunting pressure back then. Thanks for capturing those moments in that time period Mike and sharing them. The new generation of hunters have no idea how big a mule deer can get when given a chance to get old.
In the late hunts and all winter, we wore wool pants, down vests, and coats. Choice of rubber insulated boots or wool felt boots with rubber boots over the felt shoe. I preferred the wool felt boots because they dried out quickly.
Mike, that's a good story. I live here in Jackson and have had my fair share of difficult hunts with my hunting buddy - a 75 year old former Marine, who's name is also Mike. We've explored every direction out of Jackson, including the area you speak of. Your story reminds me of the memories we're making today! God Bless.
Those are some absolute giants my uncle would always tell the story he got a tag for the Arizona strip in the Kiabab forest and they were driving the road looking for this buck stopping in glassing that they had seen the night beforeThat was 37 inches wide and we had 22 points non-typical just an absolute freak and wouldn’t you know driving on the road the buck was 50 yards off the road looking right At them! my uncle was in the passenger seat and went to grab his rifle and the side of the road had a steep cliff on it and his buddy pulled the truck so tight to the side of the road my uncle couldn’t open his door and he stepped out cool as a cucumber and shot the buck!
Amazing story! God was watching over you.
Yes! Thank you!
Mike keep them coming I love stories from back in the day.

cool story bro
The people who have great stories are the ones who have gumption enough to get off the porch and off the pavement.
I have gotten cramped up dragging out a deer too. Not fun at all!
Nope!
