A shame it was made for TV only. Although, I'd recommend the 2015 adaptation of the story. As it's far more faithful to the original novel, specifically in the setting and portrayal of the characters.

@@tillyjames5180 I totally get that. I'm a lot older than you, but as much as I like this movie, I know I haven't seen it nearly as much as you. You know, you might like this movie called Miss Potter, that is, if you haven't seen it already. I really love this one, too. I think it's still free on UA-cam. Beautiful true story, & lovely scenery, also.🙂 Oh, by the way, Happy Birthday! You'll be Jack Benny's eternal age, exactly. And may you stay eternally youthful in appearance, as well. Keep being young at heart.

Heidi’s grandfather always reminds me of my grandfather. They seem nasty and mean, but they are just hurt and have been through a lot. Deep down they are caring and quite sensitive.
Also, one of the moments in this movie that really resonates with me is when grandma tells Heidi that she has a gift of touching everyone around her, but to be careful not to give too much of herself away because then she will have nothing left for herself. I always related to that and took that advice straight to the heart!
I love this movie and there are so many great moments. I watch it every year because there’s always a message to be received and another lesson to be learned.

Heidi, sound of Music, Beethoven, iron will and a whole bunch of other amazing movies like these. This is what i grew up on. This is the sort of movies they dont make anymore these days. Everything is perverted, everything jas degraded, lost morals.
Movies like thess brijg me back to the days, when i was little, mum and dad were young .

Such a great movie!! A few wonderful things that I always remembered from my childhood...
--The fact that everyone but Heidi and the grandfather have British accents...🤷
--The way Sabastian says..."You rang? Fraulein Rottenmyre"!! Haha!!!!
--I don't remember ANY of the part with Sabastian and Fraulein Rottenmyre chasing a ghost!!
    --How absolutely adorable Peter is!!

Eh, I never minded the accents. Technically, they shouldn't be speaking English at all, they should be speaking German.

Beautiful. Compliments to crew and cast and crew for pulling off warmth, diginity and depth of character. You can tell so much by a mannerism and look.

Heidi was my favourite book when I was a child. I got a copy of this book as a class prize when I was in grade 6 long time ago. This is the first time I watched Heidi as a movie. It took me back to my child hood. So nicely done.I love Heidi's character. This little actress plays her part very well. In fact all the actors and actresses do a marvellous job.
I am in my fifties now. Still enjoying. I am sad about nowadays children what are they watching? Just junk.

I haven't seen this film since watching it in 1994 with my grandmother when I was a kid. My grandma cried at the ending and it does make me cry a little also. This movie is a timeless classic. I just love the beauty of the Swiss Alps and the countryside 🇨🇭🏞️

Im very sad for the grandpa, the first scene broke my heart, what a trauma was that for an old man, im too sensitive for movies like these, i cry, but i like the emotion, he'd make a good santa clause if he'd be much calmer😄, i was really touched when Heidi said to him no wonder no one likes you, you're mean, than he responds well what do you know about it? Nothing! But he shouldnt have took the food from her, i wonder what was that white soup they were having, everyone sadly were critisizing the broken hearted grandpa instead of supporting him, Heidi was the only one who healed his heart & softened it. What a heartless woman that Deta is at first she throws Heidi infront her grandpa's house, than she takes her back with force without the concern of anyone's feelings, the worst part how she manipulates grandpa by blaming him on everything as if the devil was speaking through her.i cry alot at the ending😢

Because of this movie, every time I hear the song "Oh Christmas Tree" I get choked up. At 1:43:54... I hear the song and think of her expression as they sing it... It breaks my heart even now as an adult.
