This layout appeared at Model Rail Scotland a couple of years ago and was easily the star of the show. I love a bit of seventies grot, and the atmosphere of this layout is incredible. The variety of traffic and the attention to detail is stunning, and I really love the realistic street scenes too. Brilliant stuff.
Though not my chosen modelling period this layout has to be one of the best around these days in 4mm scale. Everything about it is right and the trackwork is so realistic that there ar no bumps or wiggles as the stock moves across the points and crossings. The detailing is of the highest order and the weathering is simply superb, It is a real pleasure to watch the trains moving at realistic speeds and all correctly signalled as well which these days is a bonus. In all respects it is a fantastic example of modelling skill.
@@kierhardy2789 I was wondering what to say about your layout, but glo41f beat me to it - sums it up perfectly. I would happily sit and watch trains go by on your railway, and I've never been a trainspotter! A superb layout, beautifully filmed with great captions describing each train.
Fantastic, took me back to boyhood spotting days. I became so engrossed that I actually whooped when a Hymek appeared before remembering I wasn't actually seeing the real thing. Thank you Mr Hardy!
It may be a small point, but one thing I really like about this is that trains disappear into tunnels and don't immediately run onto a sharp turn which always ruins the illusion for me
This is a seriously impressive layout. The description of the trains and where they are going to and from really adds. There is a lovely 'artistic' tonal quality to entire display - how the rolling stock sits perfectly in the scene. If you filmed this in Black and white it would look as real as the real world at the time. Amazing!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video thank you it was a bit like a train spotting session in my front room. Absolutely fantastic layout with a great selection of stock too
great layout ! this is really like train watching . Love that how you weathered everything and added the light of a grey day in early spring late 1960s. thanks and merry xmas !
Superb layout. The train formations look very authentic for the period, something that a lot of otherwise good layout get wrong. The video playback seems much better than in previous episodes which were very jerky and made them difficult to watch.
A wonderful railway and quite inspirational. Currently building an n scale model based around north London/ Broad street and I have taken a lot of great ideas from your layout so thank you. Pity They don’t do a class 501 kit in n scale. Best regards.
Fantastic layout - just like crunching a pack of Spangles whilst watching the Sweeney!!! The 74 is my fave and sadly rarely modelled - I used to love seeing these arcing spectacularly through Clapham on long mixed freights or parcels….is it a converted Hornby 71??
@@kierhardy2789 Thanks- I’ve seen the Silver Fox model but the cabs weren’t quite right - great idea to use them from the Hornby model:-)) Looks like a nice project that (best of all!) won’t be available rtr ever I would think….
Best I can offer is this - van arrives at 0.26 and layout is middle left, although before the station extension. ua-cam.com/video/QFinZABS0Zw/v-deo.html
Well, what can one say, a superb layout with superb stock, made even better by the locomotives having proper numbers, although, just to show I was paying attention, I didn't realise that Nimbus was an honorary Sulzer 2! To cap it all a classic beverage container. Roll on part 2.
Absolutely perfect dream layout 😍 and where did you get that gorgeous trans penine 124 from? Being from Hull I remember them very well and think they were very handsome looking, very entertaining video, lm going to watch part 2 now well done sir 👏 👍
I would guess that this layout is a few years work ? As I also notice both Semaphore & Colour light signals seem to be functioning correctly in line with Absolute Block & TCB rules. Where you a BR signalman I wonder ?
Although it's all my work, the 12 years to build the scenic section has been closely monitored by Greg Brookes and Paul James, both professional railwaymen. Without their help and guidance, it would no doubt be a bit of a hotch potch.
@@kierhardy2789 Your a lucky guy, a great layout, professional advice and now a little retirement to enjoy the well deserved fruits of your labor. Being ex BR myself I had a sneaky suspicion there had to be some railwaymen involved somewhere. Happy Modelling and many more exhibitions to come...
I normally get berated for putting the wrong loco on certain trains, but this scenario seemed alright witnessed by professional railway drivers. Probably not the most usual motive power for the train!

Always great to watch. Dave
Beautifull trackwork that's for sure, VERY WELL LAID.🙄👍👍👍👍
Such amazing attention to detail. One of my favourite layouts by far.
First time I have seen this layout amazing work its fantastic.
Hi Hardie, very nice, have a lot of nice hours and a lot of fun with it.
Very interesting, I quite like the idea of giving trains destinations etc as it gives it more realism.
What an atmosphere and astonishing attention to detail. There are many good railways to be seen on UA-cam, but this is modelling on another level!
A superb layout, without doubt
Right up there with the very best of model railway layouts. Love it!
Thank you very much

it never ceases to amaze me the quality of your weathering

I can't disagree with that - too many ends of coaches visible as they turn, and the same with dockyard curves at the end of scenic sections.

Love the 501's on the DC. Fantastic layout indeed. Very impressive 😀
Brilliant layout. The rakes of trains are so accurate! Really enjoyed the video -thank you!
Yes, very satisfying! Look forward to part 2.Definitely prefer the context of longer platforms.
Loved it . It was like being back at the line side 1969-1971 . I saw the layout at Glasgow . Superb . Like the Station and operating signals
'69 to '71..... that when I've set my time machine for!
I thoroughly enjoyed your video thank you it was a bit like a train spotting session in my front room. Absolutely fantastic layout with a great selection of stock too
Many thanks!
Incidentally, I love the fact that you describe what all the trains are and where they are going: that adds so much to a running session video.
Even if the production team got a number wrong!
100% agree
@@kierhardy2789 Death by firing squad issued ?! 😂
C’est magnifique. 👍😃
This layout never ceases to amaze me, the detail and weathering of buildings and rolling stock is fantastic.
Thank you
Rough looking Railroad. NICELY DONE ✔ CHEERS FROM OVER SEAS UNITED STATES 🇺🇸
This layout entertains me as always, love the chosen period, the reality of the train formations and the wheatering of everything.
an excellent and realistic layout, lots of traffic too.
this is one of the best layouts I have ever seen, and perfect time period and subject
Wow. Just found your channel. Amazing layout and lovely trains. Keep the vids coming. Take care.
Certainly one of the most realistic layouts I've seen. Great work and thanks for sharing
Choo Choo: I'm a train and I approve this video!!!
Reminds me at being at Oakleigh Park watching the trains go by in the early 70’s. Plus travelling down to the Cross. Fantastic layout.
It's the nearest I'll get to a time machine!
This layout is always a delight. I love the 1938 stock going for scrap.
Thank you
Outstanding and Subscribed
Fantastic. One of the first layouts I've seen were the trains are weathered as well.
Not my chosen period or country for modelling but fantastic modelling and detail can never be overlooked. Brilliant stuff.
Thank you (thumbs up)
Excellent way to start my day. Thank you very much - and great work as always.
Thank you
