Amazing car I still have mine after 13 years of owning it. I will never sell it zero problems with this car and endless km driven together

Had one as a rental back in 1995. 5 door. First trip to the UK. First hire car. Was a little naughty and burnt a small hole on the back seat. Cut a piece of cloth from under the front seat and glued it! Spent most of the time at max revs too. I was young. Sorry Hertz. Huge fun.
I made those instrument clusters back in the day too. Used straws as needles so they moved.

    I still have my 1999 1.2 S here in Ireland. 54k miles. I absolutely love the MK1 Punto's.

Ottimo affare!

Had a rare HGT Punto, same 130 BHP engine as the Barchetta, as my daily.
    Loved it, miss it

Idling just below 1000rpm is perfectly normal but that engine temperature gauge should definitely be a bit below the middle or just on it. Not a big deal but since it was so cold, it shouldn't do that. I have one of these, petrol 1.2. Great little car, almost no maintenance needed, it just goes.

I love watching reviews on the more interesting, run of the mill cars.
My Mum had a 55 S Punto new and I have always liked these.
When I started driving 20 years ago I needed a cheap runaround and found a ratty 75 Punto. It was pretty unloved but that engine had so much character and sounded pretty decent too!
After that I caught the bug and purchased a low mileage red 1.6 Sporting for £500. I spent a weekend polishing it up and it looked fantastic. The engine was much more pokey than the 1.2 but it was no way as sweet sounding.
Currently have a 147 GTA but still have fond memories of my Sporting and would buy it back in a heartbeat if it was still on the road but unfortunately it’s not 😢

Hello, new subscriber here - brought here by the Punto! I have had several of these including the Sporting and Cabrio! Brilliant little cars. Not many left, which is a pity.
I now have a Panda which I love!

      @@RetroRatchet The earlier ones were 1.6. I had a 1.2 16V - same as the later Sporting.

You missed the 1.2 16v that was the replacement engine for the sporting in around ‘97, it replaced the 1.6 8v. My GF at the time had a sky blue one with full Abarth Body Kit, she ordered it from new with the kit.

Good solid cars, well screwed together and they go down the road better than you'd expect.
Nice adult size seats unlike the Brava/Bravo.

The 1.1 55 is a safe engine which means if the cambelt snaps , it won't do any damage to the pistons and the valves .

Got one during 6 or 7 years but with the 60hp engine. Comfortable, lot of space…. but with the 60hp, you have the traditional head gasket failure around 100 000km
