I am a novice, but I believe if the king steps back instead of taking the pawn, Nf4 is mate. And if the king moves forward instead of taking the pawn the Qf4 is still mate.

Gligorich is comparable to Keres. They both won national crown multiple times but never got the chance to play for a world championship.

Hans Kmoch called this game's Pawn formation *_The Benoni Major._* It offers a dedicated defender some advantages, principally a center mass against which White finds it hard to engineer a profitable "break." To act against it effectively requires simultaneous maneuvering on both the Kingside and the Queenside...and look what Gligorich did here!
