    Ah so that's what negative space is. I always intuitively gravitated towards framing my photos like this, leaving negative space, rather than filling the space with the object. Very interesting to put names to all this stuff

    Love the shot!
    Could just someone help my logical brain side along as to why this has an negative space element to it?
    Struggling more with the concept, not the end result here.

      Negative space in photography is the emphasis on empty spaces highlighting objects, people, and more. The "negative" part is just a reference to the absence of "noise" or "clutter" around the main subject.

      Do I interpret this correctly as here the overcast sky is the stand in for "uncluttered" negative space?

      The frame is 2/3 empty, that’s the negative space, the subject is really at the bottom, thank you !
