Thanks for watching!
Such a beautiful, mournful ballad. This is a masterpiece. Grateful that you brought me to David Rawlings to my attention. He is a player all into himself who I've grown to admire. For whatever reason this feeds me like few things can . Ty
I love this song, just wish more people hear it
Yeah man! It's a masterpiece. That whole record is so special. Definitely a desert island disc for me.
The lyrics!
Yes! Thank you so much, I absolutely love these videos of Rawling's playing. Keep them coming please, they are really great.
+thebeaversOnGin I'm really enjoying working out his stuff! I'm more than happy to continue sharing as I go further and further into his style! Cheers!
Sweet melancholy. Such a beautifully evocative song. Gorgeous rendition. Thanks Eric
Thanks D!
That whole record is brilliant!
I really feel like Gillian and Dave are tapped into some primitive source - they really get to the heart of things.
So cool to come back and visit this one again. Gratefully retired I can dig into playing more of this stuff. Thanks for all your vids.
love it, first time i heard this guy play i knew there was something real unique about it, thanks for helping demystify it
Lovely playing! You are great 👍
A little late to the party, but thanks for this - I’m obsessed with this album!
Fantastic lesson! So happy I found your channel!! Rawlings is my current guitar hero. Dissonant perfection. Thanks for a great lesson!!
Me and my wife were talking about him and Gillie last night - to us, they're the greatest living and working Americana/folk artists around. I'm so happy that they're here to enrich out lives!
If you haven't heard the new David Rawlings record yet you should go get it - it's really excellent!
Great stuff. I've got the first two notes up to the Em done...LOL. But even a couple of the note combinations sounds good. Nice work. Lots of fun.
This is beautiful!
Oh yeah - Rawlings is truly the Miles Davis of folk music. I love how he takes his time with his melodies, and lets the dissonance stretch across the changes. What an artist!
I've been trying to look in the mind of Rawlings for a while now, but it would take me weeks to transcribe one of his songs. Thanks a ton!
It's my pleasure! His mind is a magical wonderland of musical excellence! Just the little things I've figured out so far have completely changed my style!
Also, I'm not sure if you do requests, but you should consider doing a Milk Carton kids song. There's some solid flatpicking songs on the Michigan and Monterey albums.
+chasse m Oh yeah those guys are cool! I'll have to investigate and see which tunes would be fun to figure out!
Thanks again Eric! .I hope to see soon the epic guitar solo video lesson. I love your acoustic stuff.
Yeah, the solo will be a fun one to work out! Gonna take some time/scientific analysis (゚∀゚)
Thanks for your support!
Damn! He's such an artist.
Gorgeous with a big G.
Thanks so much man!
Rawlings is one of those artists that perpetually inspires me - so unique, dissonant, and still melodic.
Thank you. I am an older intermediate player who loves Dave's guitar work. The intricate chord/lead unlike anything I am familiar with. I have been working on this song and would appreciate any help you might offer on the lead /chord breakdown.. Thanks again.
Thanks Dave! I'm actually working on the other solos to this tune as we speak - stay tuned!
Yes! Thanks!
It's my pleasure, Mark!
Next up - "Sweet tooth" from the first Dave Rawlings Machine album. I'm setting up my studio today - hopefully I'll be able to play it!
Good work Eric. Thanks so much!
It's my pleasure! Dave and Gillie's stuff is really fun to work on!
❤❤❤❤❤
I think Gill might well be playing an A7 sometimes with her ring finger doing the stuff on the E and A string at the third fret 002020, 302020, 032020. She doesn't use her pinky on the A5 A7 chord.
Your lessons are just great. My playing has improved lots in just a few lessons. I was allawys reluctant to use a capo. No more...
Cool! I used to avoid Capos too! Now I see what a great tool they can be! The open strings are so magical!
Very nice
m(_ _)m
Sweet
+reliablebow Thanks!
Ach brilliant- thanks Eric!
It's my pleasure, Andrew!
Thanks for tuning in!
Any chance you could do agony Bell Eric?
Oooooh good idea!
Oops, I meant Acony Bell.
Another vote for Acony Bell, but enjoy all your lessons.
Not likely unless he got sum rineheart django.
You play it so well but it's damn hard to follow!
Thanks Nick!
Sorry - I tried to make is as clear as possible, but Rawlings is very very floaty and hard to pin down 🤠
