I love the cossack squat! I haven’t been able to do it in over 10 yrs UNTIL just recently. I stopped eating sugar and drinking pop and started drinking tons of water and the pain in my knees has gotten so much better that I can now do them again! Surprised to find that I’m still strong enough to do a few of them at 53.
The only guy i see smiling while doing some of the most difficult exercises....if not for anything else i would simply follow you for your smile...not to mention you are one of the best calisthenics teachers. Lots of love from india.
Al, just met a man, who built a 50 inch pecs, with only push ups. And pull ups (which contributes to chest measurements). His basic idea is to increase full rom reps for both exercises along with squats and sit ups, and eating in a caloric surplus. He also doesn't negate the eccentric part like most people do. He does 10 sets till failure of each exercise, starts with pull ups. And when he gets sore he does a few days of easy sets, like GTG. Which is done only to aid recovery and get the blood flowing. Then he starts training to failure again when he can. So we tested his bench, it was 200kilo for reps, at 102 kilo bodyweight. His whole idea is to get stronger and bigger you have to eat more and increase your max reps. This is a guy, who unlocked one arm one leg push ups just by doing push ups. So clearly, push ups are awesome. He owns a gym where people go to train. This man is mostly focusing on yoga all the time. Power yoga. He teaches yoga as well.
Hey hey hey everybody. A list of exercises I don't do but should include squats, lunges, push ups, pull ups, dips, leg raises, bridges and cardio....can't forget about cardio👍
Hey Al, i've notice that "most" calisthenic athlete have lacking hamstring develop even tho most can do heavy weighted pistol squat (i notice it myself from training purely calisthenic for about 1 year since 2020) can you do more topics on hamstring exercise specifically isolating it to avoid knee injury or hamstring tear. Specifically doing a tutorial on Nordic curls, and TRX Bodyweight leg curl.
no negative comment but never heard anyone pronounce aussie with the actual S sound lol edit: my hamstrings have been sore and the Cossack squat felt so good and satisfying
Hey hey hey Al, How do you deal with seeing more advanced calisthenics practitioners than you (if that happens at all :) )? Sometimes it can be encouraging, but other times that just makes people wanna quit. I tend to shoot for more and more advanced goals, but I'm not sure now that's sustainable after 10 years or so (in your 30s or 40s). I think I'm approaching my limits. What's your advice?
Is there any benefit to lifting your heel when doing the Cossack Squats? They seem to feel like a progression and also feels good, just want to make sure it’s not prone to an injury.
Hey Al I am from Sri Lanka I follow your channel ...I had a kidney Transplant on june 2021...doctors say after six months we could do. moderate to vigour levels of resistance exercises for 20 to 30 minutes can you guide me a good combination
👍 Hi Al, you were at the beginning of both mine and my son's journey to calisthenics 💪, we love your books. With love from Slovakia 🇸🇰💕 Thanks a lot, best regards.🤸

Thank you. Aussie pullup, back bridge and Cossack squat. I like all these three.
The back bridge is my favorite exercise of all time. It simply works too much and feels too good to be ignored!
it is a really good exercise and I have never seen anyone do it, mobility and strength of the spine is so important
Great exercises, thanks.
Mr Wade school
Thank you Al , love from Japan
Great topic.
How about three more underutilized exercises?
