i have bought the german premium version of the plane and although it is worse on paper (less payload options) but it perform so well when used as a heavy fighter or an escort of other attacker, you would not believe the amount of spitfires and corsairs that are eager to fight you head-on.
Ya know I saw someone in sim that had over 800 ground targets destroyed in just a single model of the Il-2 After trying it, I see why he played it that much. I often forgot it even had flaps it turns so good Very scary in sim when you accidentally roll over low to the ground though :D
Get the 23mm armed version and go head on with everything. idk why but the 23mm yva-23's on the IL-2 absolutely delete everything, and it has enough frontal armour on the cockpit and engine that even .50 cals wont go through.
I have 300+ battles in air RB and ground battles and its really enjoyable. It does lose energy kind of easily. The four rocket attacks with the AP RBS-132, four single drops with the FAB-100, and four guns lets you get alot of attack passes on enemies.
Yes, IL2 is an amazing grind. It is a ground attacker primarily, so fly really close to the ground, in the high air you lose your advantage of being an attack aircraft and will be outmaneuver. But at the ground level, those same fighters will easily die to the firepower of your IL, and you can easily survive head to head engagements

It can soak a hell loads of damage but the tail and rear airframe are basically paper so try avoiding getting people at your six, getting hits from sides and the engine is also understandable but the tail, man, it's basically paper
@@Alpakinator I knew they are inaccurate but are they really that inaccurate? The Il-2M shows an abysmal climb and turn rate compared to the 41 and 42 models.
also jengar how do you feel about the upcoming change to limit ground rb to 25 minutes? how will we haev epic carry matches and ground pound matches now? :[
@@stitchjones7134 we all have bad, average and excelling moments. Thats the way life works. I dont have enough hours in my day to play enough, to show only excelling moments. Which is what many youtubbers do.

I haven't got the La-9 yet but so far the Il-2's are my favorite Russian planes. They have that ability to over-achieve which is rewarding and fun.

The Il-2 in Ground Forces is my favourite target when driving various high caliber AA guns. 37mms, 40mms... it's so slow and quite big.

I love taking this thing out in Air RB, going mid altitude or low altitude, intercepting groundpounders and trolling around with fighters! Really fun

I like IL 2M way more. It has less rockets, but it's way more meneuverable - better turn, and roll and less compression
Is it really? The stat card doesn't give that impression.
Stat cards are inaccurate about most metrics most of the time. Also they don't have info about roll and compression.

Turretless IL-2 > Turret IL-2. You should fly the IL-2 as a high altitude dogfighter as well just to see how it performs haha.

ground rb or air rb? both would be a terrible decision.

These can turn with the spit but you can out turn it if u make it use all of its energy
