Hello everyone! This video is slightly different, it is a combination of engraving and cutting. You might associate this pattern with Dieter Rams (industrial designer). But what I like to work with are layers. And even it is not the best outcome, the potential you can see at the very end of the video when the layers are moving/rotating and a moiré effect appears.
Thank you for watching and your amazing support!

This is art. Not just coding but art. Moiré effect is the mechanical interference of light by superimposed network of lines. The pattern of broad dark lines that is observed is called a moiré pattern.

Hello, have just been researching buying a small laser for cutting paper and found your videos, they are fantastic. Do you find the laser always leaves a faint black mark? I was planning on trying it on thin resin coated paper which is 255gsm and wonder if it's possible. Thanks, love the data x optical art!

Hi John, sorry for late reply. This laser cutter is fine, it did not leave burn marks. However it depends on the paper/material always… you can achieve perfect results, even with white paper, with an air assist (pump) and a honeycomb base only.

This might sound odd and it probably is, but if you cut those circles out and put them on a turntable you could have them moving in circles looking down from above it would have a strong ripple effect. The action of the turntable and the papers would just automatically be disturbed and off enough to get that effect of rippling to go on and on.

You are right. I also noticed that it will be better if I cut out the pattern as a circle (instead of a square) and fix the layers with a pin at the center. This could become a very interesting new series!

@@thedotisblack I have lost a couple of teeth, some hair and I am an inch shorter than I was 40 years ago, but I still have my imagination. Your art (coding) lends itself to many different ways to use what you make. I will love to see this on your video. Have a blessed week.
