So what is PARA BELLUM? It's a passion project from Me, Red Hawk and Midgeman where we host competitve EU4 challenges. Season Two starts 15th January, so DO NOT MISS IT! If you don't mind checking it out, here's where we'll be streaming: www.youtube.com/@ParaBellumCreative (we'll also be live on Twitch). Season 1 was AMAZING, so let's see if anyone can dethrone FlorryWorry in Season Two! Thanks Chaps!
Denmark can be MASSIVE but usually the AI has no way to LOWer the liberty desire. That's why thier power usually TAPERS post sweden break (1490s) and FADES post religiousleauge war
I've got a challenge for Red Hawk & Laith. (and I'm not sure its possible) Its called: The VENI VITI VICI challenge. (I came, I wined, I conquered) The challenge is to form VITI, then form THE ROMAN EMPIRE. And... as an extra... own all of the wine provinces in the world!
Hey Laith it would be awesome to see you play a second part of this trying to vassalize and personal union while completing the mission tree! Thanks for the great content!
Denmark was one of my favorites to play in like 2016. The main issue back then, and why the AI never seemed to get really powerful, is you'd have to integrate both Norway and Sweden, manage to expand outside Scandinavia in the early game to start the snowball, all while being flanked by the blobbiest, strongest nations that if you didn't put down early and beat their neighbors to taking their lands after you break them, would make expansion like pulling teeth. HRE to the south, Muscovy and Commonwealth to the east, England to the west, lots of tough cookies in your neighborhood. Once you get the snowball going you do great, but it's surprisingly hard to get rolling compared to what you'd expect.
Something no one plays is the monarchist Gotland into Denmark path, it's a fun puzzle figuring out how to beat Denmark without losing Norway and Sweden. Plus you get all the buffs of regular Denmark playthrough /plus/ some extra bonuses from Gotland like even more absolutism. It's kinda like an expansion pack for Denmark, and a great campaign even if a bit hard to get right.
Loved this playthrough with the Danes maybe I could give it a go. If I could I would like to recommend "In The Name of Kayser Mod" and ask that you give it a go, essential the flavour of the mod is you are the Ottomans and Mehmet II gets a vision in Hagia Sophia where he decides to convert to Christianity (the player gets a pic of four religions, but three playing styles). There are three modes you can choose the first is orthodoxy where you essentially recreate the Byzantine empire with a Turkic flavour, the second is the catholic path which also includes a unique reform religion specific for the Ottomans (it is the largest mission tree with 72 potential mission if you decide to join the reformation). The last mode is the one I wish for you to do where you either become a Coptic or Nestorian crusader state, it is by far the hardest of the three starts. I thought I would give this mod a shoutout and I would like to see you attempt at least one of the campaigns. Can't wait to see more videos.
There is also Better Denmark: Gotland. You get some pretty strong permanent modifiers: -25% liberty desire, +1 monthly admin, +10 max absolutism and reduced estate influence
Hey Laith, from a long hair bro to another: keep it up the great work! As you said before: the long hair has unshackled me from society as well. Much love from Brazil 🇧🇷

I played Denmark but I was over gov cap and took the bonuses in exchange for disloyalty and wasn’t sure I ever wanted to integrate them so I could keep the bonuses
One of the horrible things about Denmark is that it focuses somewhat on mercenaries and merc discipline, which would be good if merc discipline actually worked like discipline but instead it functions more like infantry combat ability for mercs.
Denmark is pretty good for subject maxing. Managed to go pretty crazy and steal bohemia and hungary from austria in two separate wars and get Lithuania from Poland, too.
Why wouldn't you aim for the HRE Emperorship? From my experience that is probably the most powerful way to play Denmark + it is doable as fast as first elections kick in
denmark is fun the kalmar union mechanics are fun but its a tough start with lots of disasters and a very unruly vassal, did this recently for the danelaw achievement and its not a fun one.
Playing as Denmark directly is fun, but its even better if you play as Visby - Denmark. Sweden will never rebel, Norway even less and they actually have their former King back (who needs the Bavarians right?) And I think they get some nice bonuses on top of it. History fact: The Kalmar Union existed until 1523 when Sweden got their independance from Denmark. The advertisement was funny, Hawk looked like a housewife and Laith like a disappointed husband. Lets hope the fanfiction writers dont find this one. 😉
bro you literally read the mission that makes you start war as th defender against lübeck and then you attack them normally anyway. Lucky for you you Austria like you enough to not join on their side but still why make it more difficult for yourself?
People dont play Denmark because sweden looks bigger and easier. The reality is that Denmark is unbelievably overpowered in the right hands. I've had games where i took all of the hansa cities of northern germany earning 60 ducats from trade by 1490 forming the kalmar union by 1500 then taking all of russia, all of the baltics half of poland half of france and all of england by 1700
you say theres no downside to call in austria into your war.. firstly they take some of the money you demand.. secondly they can later call you into annoying wars you might not want to do... so yes there is a downside..

Haven’t watched in a year, maybe a year and a half and now Laith looks like Tunisian Hozier?
He went for the full Bedouin tribesman look
@ it suits him tbf.
I think his hair is kinda gorgeous 😅
Welcome back
I thought he’s going for that Jesus look.
HOLY SHIT, I came back to the channel after a while, ITS VLAD TEPES DRACULESTI. Love the look Laith, just don't drink my blood. Capitain Hook energy.

hype! s1 was a great showing. challenges were interesting! might be cool to see maybe an achievement speedrun challenge?
Starting too look like biblically accurate Jesus

Damn. Red Hawk's got a nice kitchen.
Better hope he keeps an eye on Laith he's there. It'd be a shame if something were to happen to that kitchen...

Denmark for roleplay, Sweden for game mechanics.

It's a naval power connected by land to land powers that is outcompeted in its strengths and flavor by England.
Can't wait for Laith to do throwbacks to old video ideas and concepts from the early days, like artillery only challenge once more xD
Does anyone else think that Laith's hair looks like what's left over after using a lathe?
Love that Parabellum annoucement. It so funny to see The Red Hawk cooking
I would love a Dithmarschen campaign. Spread the good word of the peasant revolution to the entire HRE

as a swedish man i cannot bring myself to play as Denmark
Wew, just took a short break from my ironman Burgundy playthrough only to see that Laith has uploaded :)
a shame you didn't get to show off the really powerful part of Denmark, the modifiers you get from having PU's
10:00 - You shouldn't hold in your sneeze like that! It builds pressure in the ears and you *can* end up bursting your ear drums!!
I'm Swedish and I've played Denmark. Not as many times as I've played Sweden of course. But I've played it.
You can get up to 40% Merc Disciplinary as Denmark because of ideas, policies and missions for both Denmark and Scandinavia
One of the horrible things about Denmark is that it focuses somewhat on mercenaries and merc discipline, which would be good if merc discipline actually worked like discipline but instead it functions more like infantry combat ability for mercs.
Danzig sounds fun. I'd also suggest Curonia. They even had a short lives small colonial empire back in our timeline.
I 100% thought that the ad was gonna be for hello fresh
