On the flip side, if people genuinely listened to music instead of using it as background noise for tiktoks no one would have to be *forced* to do anything. People (fans) are literally getting what they asked for: they wanted songs to make tiktoks to and now that’s all they’re ever gonna get.

And that's why Nicki separates from them. Nicki is at a point in her career where she chooses what to release and what not and as she said it herself she felt like it was her responsibility to come out with a RAP song (DWHAP, BUSSIN, WE GO UP) and not a twerk or dance song for tik tok. It's sad tik Tok is influencing the music so much cause this doesn't only happened to the rap field but music in general...

You guys do know that Nicki apparently “inspired” the girls right? Truth is Nicki started this whole TikTok music. If TikTok was a thing back then when Nicki was first popping, I guarantee most of her songs will be a TikTok sound. And it’s not the female rappers fault. Everyone makes TikTok’s out of EVRYTHING. Literally everything and anything. Nicki is literally working with tiktokers for a new TikTok trend on her newest songs. Nicki is not special. Her lines are ABC too. She is not safe. She has better bars, but they are still ABC. It’s not their fault TikTok sells. It’s a smart move. Literally.

Not sure when this opinion piece was dropped by that UA-cam channel but by now I hope they know that labels are requiring viral songs from artists. Plenty of artists have shared this news by June 2022. Also makes me understand how “working twice as hard” could become a staple motto for Black Americans. A strategy to be seen as just as worthy and successful as the next person or group.
I see that in this critique. There’s not even many female rappers to choose from and they all have to be top notch…….or they’re degraded like Saweetie was. Bare minimum is scrutinized for being popular and when below that standard, it’s scrutinized for not being the bare minimum. I understand today’s rap topics sound tired to enough ppl but maybe that means it’s time for those ppl to choose others to listen to. Maybe you grew out of the music you grew up listening to. Because I don’t understand getting mad at artists that say they don’t have control really over their music output and who also want to put out rap other than sex appeal, when that energy seems best directed towards labels and fans that prefer sexually explicit, uncreative lyrics. Nicki minaj was operating in the industry when great rappers were on top. Like eminem, Jayz, etc. So she was influenced by creativity, if you understand what I mean. its like most music of the 80s and 90s and early 2000s were great because the musicians were surrounded by other creative musicians and music creators.

I understand these artist don't want to make music for tik tok but you can't control what goes viral on there! That app is so unpredictable literally any sound goes viral. Tik tok will take a song from 2003 and make that songs go viral today and next thing you know that song is on the charts again. Not only that but tik tok has lot of people who do remixes to popular songs today. You will see that the majority of songs on there are just remixes or mash ups of different songs. For example the song "Do it" by Cherish went viral again but the Zedd remix is what is topping the charts not the original song.

I disagree when they said that the songs don't have to be always good, chart topping or successful. But that a problem in it's self because the artists is under a contract from their label and their main is to get a popular song because if they don't they is not getting paid. Not getting is being cut off from their resources. Not getting paid (meaning the label) means eventually the eyes will get dropped. So in my opinion that is the literally the most important thing of being an artist, especially a new artist.

I like to call it the Beyoncé Nicki effect. Everyone gets mad if a female stands there in a hoodie and chain with good bars. There’s no visual for them even tho we saw how wild ppl would get when Nicki would do it. The stage presence alone when she broke down her ptaf remix to this day it’s iconic. But ever since that flawless song with Nicki n bey we started to see the shift of what the next rap superstar would be. They had to out do just standing so they wanted merge Nicki n Beyoncé n create the Beyoncé of rap with bars, choreography, visuals etc But nobody except for doja has actually been able to cover that area. Meg would’ve been the next Nicki type to have her og presence but had to “create a brand” which I might add that’s written in FEMALE CONTRACTS to push sex and perfect bodies etc. they literally have get ur body done in these contracts. That why I won’t hate on Meg especially once she’s done with her designated albums that she has to produce but she’ll be back making her og shit. Like we saw with plan b that’s def her moms influence in that song. And let’s not forget that even back in the day all the iconic female rappers had men writing for them. There’s a reason Kim fell off after biggie died. He had a goal of makin a female him but Kim relied heavily on that and has never been able to recover sadly. N we can see that with the Nicki vs Kim. Since Nicki writes and was actually influenced by him look how long she’s been able to keep the public interested N to have a male (Wayne) who’s been in the game for how long to actually gaf about her career and hold her to HIS level not do the work for her is what’s missing. These corps who have these rappers on shelves for years are just looking for a quick payday hence why everyone is pushed towards TikTok rn.
