Finally, after a couple of years of wondering, I found someone who explains the OP-Z's external sequencing capabilities. Every other source I found was too vague about it for me to be 100% sure. I got the Circuit because I assumed the OP-Z couldn't sequence external synths. But wow, 16 tracks? I think I'm gonna sell my Circuit at some point for an OP-Z!
I kept my Circuit, but it is collecting dust since I bought the OP-Z. I considered buying a Digitakt for sequencing, but it lacks some key features (song mode,...) The OP-Z is quite easy to use and the sequencer is really powerful - but don't expect too much from the synth engines
how do you just send midi through and not have it play the synth on the OPZ? Does muting those channels audio wise still send over midi notes? Or do you just turn the lvl on those tracks all the way down?
So can OP-Z sequence 16 external midi tracks? Can you use as many bass, arps, leads, chords as you’d like? Or are you limited to 1 of each and the other 12 tracks are normal sequencing types?
You could sequence 16 midi tracks yeah. 1-8 allow you to use the funky weird step components stuff. 9-16 are just basic x o type sequencing. The arp one can do some extra synced arp things. But you are not required to use the arp. Just like how you don't have to use the step components
Here's my question : how do you stop the synth tracks to feed your line input module? I don't get that. It's not the mutes (cause that mutes midi). Maybe use an empty synth track? Could you explain? Thank you!
Hold mixer button and press Shift. The shift button turns red. Keep holding the mixer button and you can select the tracks you want to audio mute, but not midi mute. The tracks will turn red.
He's taking the USB MIDI from the OP-Z and plugging it into the USB port of the Keystep. The Keystep's MIDI-out is plugged into the Befaco MIDI Thing. From there, all the CV outputs of the MIDI Thing can be plugged across the eurorack.
Hello, using a USB hub between op-z and keystep failed. This way I can control the op-z with the keystep but I can't receive midi notes on my make noise o coast which is connected to the mid out of the keystep ? Anyone have an idea why ? :)

@Ben Champion Hey Ben how do you configure the midi from the op-app?
is there anybody that can hel[ me to set the midi channels out so I can do this as well? so far every notes of every trax are feeding the synth
Nice performance + explanation !

Nice - you just sold an OP-Z. Good stuff!
Brilliant, great job!!
Weirdly, this is how I use my OP-Z too…
Very useful as I wanted to add percussion to my modular.

Sounding good! ✊
What OP-Z module are you using to send out midi?

so the keystep just is the converter from type c to midi?
Yeah. The oplab does this too. Or a module that took usb midi might work

Remove the usb hub and just use micro usb male usb c male cable between the two
Cool demo; thanks : D
those mute tracks are the jam
This is a holdup! Hand over your InAmp!
