I just gotta say THANKS bro!! Followed step by step, and my lights turned out fantastic! By far the “best how” nightshade video on YT! I actually done it at first without watching anything, and wasn’t happy. I searched a few different vids. Finally founds yours, very very happy and appreciative! 👌🏻🤙🏻
Well done, good explanations and visuals on why sanding gives that extra smooth finish. A light touch sanding just makes the compounding/polishing portion only needing a light touch also, less risky for burning through. Really great video, thank you!
i followed your instructions and painted the tails on my 2012 altima. i used red vht instead of black, and meguilars compound and polish. also i had to manually buff in the compound and polish. even with those changes, the lights look AWESOME. thank you for describing the process. i followed your steps and they came out perfect. anyone looking to paint their tails just follow this guide and youll be successful. thanks again for making this.
What a GREAT video!!!! I had seen this already, but thinking I got mine too black, I decided to see if I could remove the clearcoat, then the VHT with brake fluid. I started by sanding the clearcoat with 600 wet, but wasn't getting very far. Then I looked at it and saw the "orange peel" affect, and realized I had just completed the 1st step of this video, so I changed course and sanded 2000 wet, then proceeded with the rest from here, and WOW, they don't look so black anymore and I managed the same reflection as you did! THANKS again for the method and instruction!!!
Followed this extremely well explained video and my 16 Lexus IS 350 tail lights turned out beautiful!!! The mirror super smooth finish it’s amazing!!! Thx again brotha!!!
Man what an awesome video. I did my lights exactly like you said and wow they turned out amazing. Funny story just like you after I got the final coat of clear on I had to put my lights back on before they were totally dry. But I did the final sand and stuff and you would never know. Thanks man
Great video, good information, theres different ways and methods to do this but this is a great beginner to intermediate way to get it done. Thank you sir for the video
Thanks for the video man. I was kicking myself in the foot after doing the initial spray and clear but it’s turning out great with the information you provided!
Brandon…Great how to video. I was deciding weather to wrap my lights or do as you did. My Ford has very difficult lights to wrap so I am going to use your method. BTW… Go Cyclones! Class of 80 Thanks again for an excellent video. PC.
Great video thank you for sharing. Do you think 2 coats would be enough for it to be uniform? Or should I do 3 and sand a lot? How easily does the VHT sand off if I put too much? I’m just looking for a very light smoke, don’t want them too dark.
Great video bro! I made my lights like this today and I sprayed 5 times the black spray and it was really dark lol I couldn’t see much of the light but a red dot lol so i had to re done everything all over and I only sprayed it 3 times and they came out great! But thanks for your help brother. You got a sub
I was at six minutes and I was really doubting the process but boy was I wrong, that came out so solid. I am about to pick up an Evo 8 and wanted to look into alternatives to $200 tail lights, which wax sealer did you go with?
how long do u wait before removing the masked areas? I'm gonna do some GTR taillights for my g37 with vht- most g37s use vinyl overlays to achieve the look but I think vht will look way better
Any recommendations for other compounds you used before polishing? And what kinda polish did you use. I followed your video step for step and getting ready to wet sand the clear.
Not a bad job at all “mate” I plan to do my Hyundai Kona N, so I probably went over your video about 6 times, just to make sure I get everything down pat…. Thanks Champ..👍😉👊🏻
I sprayed my tail lights and didn’t like the dull look so I was on here looking for ways to shine it up and saw your video. Would 2k high gloss clear spray work instead of the dupli-color clear coat?
Yours came out great, but I have watched a guy that does it for a living for more than 10 years and I have never seen him sand anything and it comes out PERFECT No orange peel look.
the orange peel is there. No way to avoid it. Might not show up on video, but it's there. Even if it's not, it will look BETTER wet sanded and compounded and polished.
Great vlog insightful in saying that can you please go over some other issues first issue I've done Nightshade on a bunch of my vehicles and I always get it to be a high gloss finish without clear coat but I make it a lot darker second why are you using enamel clear is it because the product is enamel based I thought the product was a lacquer base third eye also noticed that if you send it down Waiter on a month to even three down the road it will spiderweb and crack for whatever reason you pretty much got to strip it all off and start over have you ever experienced love
Can you give an update please? I noticed by your plate you are in Iowa, and im sure the harsh winters, road salt and stuff are the same and Michigan where im at. Any maintence or is the original still looking good. Thanks
Professionally done ✅, i had one question which im struggling since this week, so i used VHT on my tail light done uh not bad , but ive covered my bumper all that plastic car parts but still vht spray dripped down, can u please tell how to remove that spray off from paint rear bumper and trunk
I did everything just like you did in this, but the next day it was cooler and rainy and it’s seems to have dulled out a little bit. I used a 3M rubbing compound with Maguires polish, do you think I just didn’t buff it out enough? I’m going to try a high speed polisher and see how it comes out
depending on how cool it dropped down to it could of messed up the curing process with the clear coat. worse case scenario youd have to sand down the clear and reapply. Those are good compounds and polish though so also yes could just be it wasn't cut well enough with the compound
3 years later. I still come back to refresh my mind with this how to!
How is the paint holding up after 3 years? Did you have to touch it up or remove and re apply?
the best instructional video i’ve seen on this thanks for the help man
brian thank you!
Except for the grit of paper
TATERS 73 lol always some loser like you out there
i guess I'm pretty randomly asking but do anyone know of a good place to stream newly released series online?
@Kareem Callum Try flixzone. You can find it on google :)

Looks awesome dude 👊🏽
Very nice job and very informative..! What brand of clear coat did you use?
great job brandon i literally just did 6 coats on my tailights and am waiting for them to dry overnight then il wet sand them and follow your steps
I did 6 coats on my tail lights too. Waiting now for them to dry overnight as well before wet sanding. How did yours turn out?
I was at six minutes and I was really doubting the process but boy was I wrong, that came out so solid. I am about to pick up an Evo 8 and wanted to look into alternatives to $200 tail lights, which wax sealer did you go with?
Thanks! I just used chemical guys butter wet wax but any wax will work
how long do u wait before removing the masked areas? I'm gonna do some GTR taillights for my g37 with vht- most g37s use vinyl overlays to achieve the look but I think vht will look way better
Hello, great video, just one question. Why does it need to be enamel clear coat? Thanks
Came out great, nice video, thanks! Be sure to let things cure for a month before wax!
Thanks bro.. I just did mine and there badass
RCbashing the KRATON hell Yeah anytime! Glad they turned out for ya!
Any recommendations for other compounds you used before polishing? And what kinda polish did you use. I followed your video step for step and getting ready to wet sand the clear.
Hi great instructions many thanks for the upload, why do you use enamel over normal laquer is there any issues using normal laqure .
Man that seems like a lot of work but you did so good! 😎 I should just have you do mine LOL
Nice job. How’s it holding up?
Another great way to make them glass is metal polish (Wheel) rub it on and buff with a sponge or rag. Makes it glass than wax it and its amazing.
Thanks for this video bro!
Well done. Go Cards!!
Dude that was amazing
ARCHIE MEGEL thanks!
Not a bad job at all “mate” I plan to do my Hyundai Kona N, so I probably went over your video about 6 times, just to make sure I get everything down pat…. Thanks Champ..👍😉👊🏻
Thanks for a wonderful video how is it now? Did you have to redo it again after one year?
I'm going to try this. Doesn't look that difficult, just time consuming.
I sprayed my tail lights and didn’t like the dull look so I was on here looking for ways to shine it up and saw your video. Would 2k high gloss clear spray work instead of the dupli-color clear coat?
Very nice video thank you what type of clear coat did you use ?
@Brandon Clarke I have like a little fading on my lights if I sprayed over it again with the VHT one more coat you think it would cover it up ?
Yours came out great, but I have watched a guy that does it for a living for more than 10 years and I have never seen him sand anything and it comes out PERFECT No orange peel look.
the orange peel is there. No way to avoid it. Might not show up on video, but it's there. Even if it's not, it will look BETTER wet sanded and compounded and polished.
Really nice work.
Hey man curious, with both tail lights done with multiple coats, was 1 can more than enough?
Great vlog insightful in saying that can you please go over some other issues first issue I've done Nightshade on a bunch of my vehicles and I always get it to be a high gloss finish without clear coat but I make it a lot darker second why are you using enamel clear is it because the product is enamel based I thought the product was a lacquer base third eye also noticed that if you send it down Waiter on a month to even three down the road it will spiderweb and crack for whatever reason you pretty much got to strip it all off and start over have you ever experienced love
Just night shaded mine earlier today. Can’t wait to wet sand and clear coat tomorrow.. I should wait 24 hours after I clear coat to sand and polish ?
Awesome video. I need to do this to my led headlights, as they are too bright.
I know this comment is a year old but why do you not just adjust the level of the light? Every headlight has adjustments
Thanks for the video dude 👌🏻
excellent video
Can you give an update please? I noticed by your plate you are in Iowa, and im sure the harsh winters, road salt and stuff are the same and Michigan where im at. Any maintence or is the original still looking good. Thanks
nice vid bro, thank you for sharing.
I’m using your video. Thanks bro! Did you wipe them with alcohol between tint and clear coat?
Good work man
The baby got the sound effects for the video 😁
good job looks great
Good Job Young Man
Professionally done ✅, i had one question which im struggling since this week, so i used VHT on my tail light done uh not bad , but ive covered my bumper all that plastic car parts but still vht spray dripped down, can u please tell how to remove that spray off from paint rear bumper and trunk
Carby Cleaner removes it with ease
Hey man what wax did you use to seal it on the very end when everything was finished? The brand as well please
Rolando Ruiz honestly it was some stuff I picked up on sale lol I’m not even sure what it was
@@BrandonClark563 like glass polish? or what would you buy
@@speakebreathe its meguiars polish. car polish
Great job
Whats the difference between laquer and enamel? I bought enamel but i havent used it
I did everything just like you did in this, but the next day it was cooler and rainy and it’s seems to have dulled out a little bit. I used a 3M rubbing compound with Maguires polish, do you think I just didn’t buff it out enough? I’m going to try a high speed polisher and see how it comes out

Can you apply the clear coat after having sprayed the lights previously?
Hey man , what did you wipe it down with after you done the vht and before clearing? Thanks
Thanks brother
What's wrong with using a lacquer clear coat?
Looks damn good
