- Bridges to the Past is a paved trail that will take you along a preserved portion of the historic Louisville and Nashville Turnpike.
The trail is approximately 2 miles in length and is an easy route along a gently sloped paved road surface. Visitors’ are required to remain on the paved road surface, except where walkways have been provided to allow visitor’s to view the bridges.
The trail lies in an area of Fort Knox used for military training and as a result is sometimes closed to hikers. The trail may also be closed to hikers during some hunting seasons. The day we visited we heard artillery firing almost constantly.
The trail is handicapped accessible.
The Bridges to the Past Walking Trail is located approximately 1 mile south of West Point, Kentucky or 8 miles north of Fort Knox Main Gate on the Louisville Nashville Turnpike, from Highway 31W.
Below are some point of interest to find along the trail:
The L & N Turnpike
There were three stone arch bridges over 150 years old
Old limestone quarry
Old mill
Road to an old school
Cedar Point where cedars were planted to help erosion
Dripping Springs where covered wagons would camp
Siebolt Cave
Thanks for coming along with us on this hike!

I’ve passed this many times, but never stopped. Thanks for taking us along!
It was interesting. They need some new signs though. If I hadn’t looked online to see what all was there we wouldn’t have known what to look for.
Love the woods! Really enjoyed watching. Glad you were not hurt from the fall; you are a real trooper. Thanks for sharing
It could have been bad. Just bumps and bruises
🤣🤣Turnpike? I had to laugh, because we have seen some remote turnpikes in our travels more in the eastern states. I look around and we're in the middle of nowhere! Beautiful though. Just like this one and your hike, Terri and Keith. So happy you're okay after your "finer moment," Terri! Enjoyed seeing the stone bridges and we did watch it in full like you mention, Keith! Also loved seeing the old stage coach stop right before seeing Bigfoot. Lovely soldier and we thank her for her service. Beautiful hike! Thanks for bringing us along.
We sure were surprised by that soldier! We heard footsteps and there she was 😳 scared us so bad
Perfect adventure...some close calls there Terri 🤣! Stay safe and healthy. Happy travels. 👍🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
Thanks! It was a fun hike. Terri loves these kinds of adventures even though she gets hurt a lot. We’re out there living life😊
I love that you guys have a great sense of adventure! I'm so sorry about the fall and thank God you are okay. I would have loved to walk with you guys! Thank you for sharing.
In spite of the fall it was a great hike!
That was certainly some pretty awesome exploring for sure! Gotta love seeing that those stone bridges have certainly passed the test of time!
It was amazing how well they have stayed in tact! They built things to last for sure!
So glad you’re ok.
The artillery gun fire was scary 😮 Love the cave and adventure.
Hearing the artillery firing was scary
That's great guys we really enjoy watching your films sorry we don't comment that much as life's a little hectic at the moment .. but keep the films coming 👌 Glyn and Carol 🇬🇧
We agree! Life get crazy busy! Enjoy your weekend! 😊
Nice adventure👍🏾. Be safe out there!
Thanks! Somehow I always end up getting hurt
Thank you for showing us locations that we wouldn’t see.
You’re welcome! It was a beautiful historic trail to follow. We appreciate you watching 😊
@@RetiredLovingIt maybe you need to add elbow and knee pads. Just a suggestion. Fashionable ones.
@@RetiredLovingIt I said that in fun. We have to laugh at times when we find those gravity storms that pull us to the ground.
@stevecardinal9972 🤣😂 not a bad suggestion 😅
@stevecardinal9972 exactly! Sometimes we have to laugh to keep from crying 😅
Gaagh that artiliary sounds scary!!
It was concerning 🫤
Nice seeing you all in my neck of the woods. Would be great to link up for some coffee some day soon.
Shoot us an email 👍
Hi guys. Cool they let you explore some of the area around the fort. I use to goto Ft. Knox for range qualifications a few times.
It was a good historic walking trail.

Ain’t that the truth! Don’t bounce back as quickly for sure!
Ouch!!
I still have bruises 🤷♀️😫
Hm.. I wonder why your footage wouldn't transfer? That's odd..
It’s very odd. Possibly the file got corrupted some how 🤷♀️
