The air burst can and will kill you if you're not careful, like if there's a possibility there's an enemy between you and your desired target it will absolutely detect and detonate the minute it detects it. Tried throwing one at some bugs 100 meters off, it detonated like 25 meters out because it detected a scavenger
use lazer cannon, it can take out hulks by shooting the face and (most inportantly) can MELT gunship, i am saying 2 seconds max if you shoot the thruster
There was a cheater or dev in my game the other day with the airburst that he gave out to everyone. Its fun, but if you aim too low above the ground, it explodes a handful of feet in front of you, usually killing you and commonly nearby teammates. It seems to work best when shot from on top of something higher above the general area. There is no lock-on just like the expendable anti-tank and recoilless rifles. Overall, the damage is decent and CAN take out automaton ships, but its less effective at that than some of the other rocket-eque options. Its very, very effective at killing loads of small terminids on the ground... which is ironic being that its "intended" for air units. Firing upwards gives you a lovely firework show too.
The rocket launcher is nuts but also has a crazy spread radius, and like the other weapons has a half mile radius for helldiver's, and 2 feet for enemies. But damn it looks amazing 😂
If the airburst rocket was a something you could buy as a consumable for the mission like weapon experimentation. I think it would be fine. Because having played with it, I don't think I'd go out of my way to include in my loadout over some other support weapon
It sucks against the Automoton Gunships. Its basically a shoulder launched version of the cluster Bomb Eagle strike. It's good when attacking an enemy position but only at a distance. Its also good at team killing lmao
One thing about the mines is that players cannot trigger them by running over them but many enemies can not just heavies. At least in leaked footage ive seen, even a hunter was enough to trigger it. I would say it was more effective at clearing incomming chaff than the regular minefields though. But i still find the airburst more useful
I feel the Airburst needs to be impact activated rather than proximity, you could probably take down a murder of shriekers you just need to hit one but it's a bit random at the moment

Had a hacker join my game like 3 days ago and called the air burst launcher in and the anti air mech in. It was pretty cool until he called in 50 orbital lasers.
Had a hacker come in* and lay down like 20 mortors. I just watched them kill everything lol. Almost every hacker I’ve encountered also had Chinese characters as their name lol

Some of the people that have been posting them online were using exploits to artificially buff the damage to make them look good, which currently both options are not. the devs did however, say the final versions will be released later once they rebalance them.
I feel as though the mines would be more useful. 1. I always make a point to knock out shrieker nests at a distance the moment I spot them so they don't even spawn to be an issue. (That's my play style though, just my opinion.) 2. It's better to have a multi-use support weapon and a one-use orbital because you can have at least one other orbital/eagle for other uses. To have an support weapon whose sole purpose is taking out shriekers doesn't make a lot of sense. (Iv retyped this like 8 times now trying to make it as clear as possible what I'm trying to say. Hopefully the message gets across.) 3. The amount of times iv been swarmed by 3 or 4 chargers at the same time is maddening. If I can have a tool that helps me to deny specifically them freedom of maneuver and doesn't detonate from the hordes of smaller bugs, that would be amazing.

Having used the Cluster Rocket it's tricky but you can kill basically anything if you angle the explosion right. I've two shotted Hulks and cleared out hordes of little bots.

And if you're thinking of killing units about to be dropped, there are more polyvalent options for that, and it may not kill more than light units.
I'm known to enjoy a mine or two myself as well. And by enjoying a mine i mean exploding in the middle of the minefield right behind the random threw down with all the samples in the middle of it. Mines are never a good option. Ever.
I already tried the weapon it’s not good for destroying striders or fabricators. Deals almost no damage to striders and can’t blow up the fabricators? It is amazing at team killing however

It is not intended for air units. It is an AIR burst explosive

Tip for gunships.
Laser Canon is the best weapon. Focus the laser on the engines and it shoots them down in seconds
Recoiless rifle or expat are also good because unlike the quasar they shoot instantly when you press the trigger.

It was excellent for gunships. Also great for tanks, fabricators, and the occasional quad strider (when hit correctly). Turrets in general

I really want to see a loiter strat, even if it’s weak. Something like an gunship that attacks targets in an area.
