A popular 1960s show where the shows host visits different places around New Zealand, a trip down memory lane of how New Zealand looked back in the early days and on this occasion it's Taupo, one of the country's most-popular holiday resorts.
Hosted by New Zealands well knowin host of TV shows such as It's in The Bag & Beauty and the Beast, the late Selwyn Toogood.
Thank you for posting this. My mother is the beautiful Maori woman guiding at Geyser Valley at that time
The proper pronounciation for Taupo if written in english is toe (toe on a foot) poor (the poor man had no shoes)
toe-poor
toe - paw
yeah by the way boy tat how whiteaSS like u can't spell need 2 go back 2 spell right....
He is pronouncing it as it was pronounced then. Before all the politically correct stuff happened.
Very much like a travelogue film-New Zealand before the yuppies, exorbitant house prices, etc. Auckland New Zealand 2022
The kiwi accent was very British back then
I was 3-4, brother 2 and another newborn. It was the Broom to Boom decade of Taupo development. Forestry, sawmills all over town, building everywhere. My Dad a builder designer.
lol kiwis used to talk like british back then..
Yes they did sound very British, the Aussies were similar too I reckon..
and 2013 not much difference to a pomme like me!
@TERENCE896 His accent isn`t received pronunciation . Its `standard English` , and the most common accent in the South East .
Sounds very British the accent
In 1964 Kiwi and Oz accents the same!
Gee’s Selwyn sounded much the same then
Thank god i live in these times. 60s looks boring as Fuck.
Nah I'd glady switch eras. To many dumb woke morons today.
I am glad that I was alive back then, it was okay, I am also rather pleased that I am still alive now. I think that there were more individual freedoms then than now.
