Alvin has slowly transformed into one of my favorite judges on Masterchef. He was a bit rude in S1 but as the seasons go on, you can see he is really passionate about innovative food and creativity. He keeps it real, but he also provides advice and coaches the contestants for success. He is the demon chef but isn't afraid to mention how much he likes a dish. It's evident he does care about the success of the contestants. I like how he advised Trevor on plating but also describes the successes of the dish, which would ultimately help Trevor in the long run. The MC Canada judges are pretty awesome, Michael is a compassionate and incredible coach and judge as well.
I think in Season 1 they were encouraged to be more critical and tbh were kind of mean. I think it's because they were instructed to be like the US masterchef version more. But then they found from the feedback that people liked seeing the more constructive parts of their feedback so advised them to soften their tones a bit but still be firm in their advice and criticism.
@@HolyZahardyeah, i was mentioning specifically in s1 he came off as rude and ik it was bc they were trying to copy the MC America formula. he’s been a fun and lighthearted chef. also i freaking love giorno

I'm going to reiterate what the others have said. It's practice and repetition. I took a look at your channel and noticed you're a gamer. How do you remember what button combinations you need to do in order to be successful? If you're a good gamer, it's because you put in the time to learn what you need to. Cooking is the same thing. The more you do it, the more it becomes autopilot. Or another analogy. Driving a car. If you really think about it, there are soooo many steps to drive a car properly. How much acceleration to use, when to start braking, how early and when to activate your turn signals. Remembering to check your blind spots. Scanning your mirrors. Maintaining your speed. But after a while, all these actions become second nature. So, get in the kitchen and cook something. Then, next time, do something more complicated. You'll get there.
I don't think she wanted to sabotage anybody they told her to switch everybody's baskets but that she could her own... But then they knew they had an allergy and couldn't cook with it but then they didn't judge her on it so what was the point of her having that basket you should have just taken away from her in the beginning so at least she could participate but they let her cook with that the allergy basket and then didn't judge her she had three problems wrong with it and they let her get away with it because she had allergic
I didn't even like Miranda. I thought she was an overconfident ... b. But I really felt bad watching her go down on a simple mistake like this. I'm glad to see the respect shown by the other contestants because she's really a powerhouse cook with a tremendous talent and strong will. Maybe it was the compassion she showed Thea helping her devein the shrimp because she hadn't anticipated sabotaging her with the shrimp.
I still can't believe that thea made it to the finals..?! She was consecutively at the bottom in almost all challenges. Barrie on the other hand, deserved more.

Honestly when they told everyone to go shop for their ingredients before Miranda's advantage was revealed, it was almost certainly going to be swapping. If I was Miranda I would've gotten the worst 5 ingredients that you couldn't possibly turn into a good dish together and switch it with Trevor. That was probably the only way Trevor would ever get eliminated this season. Let's see what he can do with cottage cheese, bananas, orange juice, anchovies, and sauerkraut lol
@@salvatorerampello6247 It's a calculated risk but it's easily the most obvious advantage they could spring. In a situation where Miranda was clearly the worst chef of the 5 just in terms of skill and there was a clear top dog in Trevor, I think it's a risk you take. Expected value
I understand why Thea saved herself in this ep. Thea's using her emotions as her weapon and Aaron's being cocky that he let his team down with his decision during the Burger challenge in which she is under Aaron's team. He even repeated it on the Auberge's anniversary challenge ep. It was just Thea's 'strategy' is more effective than Aaron's. And I think it is more easy to correct someone's underconfidence and emotion than the selfishness, overconfidence, and ambitious. I, too, misjudged her with being so emotional but watching this ep made me realized that he deserves to go. Both are great cooks and I have no doubt with that. Aaron's got hired in Chef Michael's restaurant and Thea proved herself again in S7 that she can place again as the frontrunner of the competition. I'm just talking about the character and integrity of the cooks which is also important to flourish in this industry.

Honestly, she's both fat and a woman so she's going to be hated by people regardless if she did anything wrong or not lol. Personally, I don't think she was mean. But I understand why people would think so since she might've been portrayed as such by the producers for the sake of having an antagonist in a relatively pretty chill cast, but purely because of her appearance there's gonna be a lot of people bias against her. That's just how things go unfortunately.
It doesn't really change the flavor, but the texture, when you are biting into it makes a big difference. When you cut against the grain the steak is more tender, thus, more enjoyable.

I generally prefer the Canadian version because they usually avoid that sort of imbecilic jackassery.
Although I agree with your sentiment, I think Claudio didn't know at that time that Thea had an allergy to shrimp. So, I think he was disappointed since that's a beginner's mistake and assumed she was just being reckless. He might have expected more from Thea since she had been showing strong flavors before that.
Ooooh! I had plans for the Salmon! I went big and got a white Christmas tree out of it! Because they didn’t want it. It’s mine now! Because they didn’t want it.
Cooking competitions like this don’t cater to individual weaknesses. Look at how Christine Ha of MC USA had to work with a live crab despite being blind. Mary Berg of S3 managed to cook delicious meat dishes despite being a vegetarian. A really good and resourceful cook will manage to work with and around unfamiliar and problematic ingredients. MC has shown contestants asking others for advice or opinions re their dishes. If asking someone else to taste a dish for enough seasoning is allowed, Thea could have done that.
