I was born in Bengaluru, studied and grew up in Delhi and now settled down in Bengaluru. I can read and write Tamil because I studied it in Delhi which is 2000 kms from Tamil Nadu. My Hindi is stronger next only to English. I learnt Kannada well which I read as well. The strength of knowing multi languages is enormous and powerful. I experience that everyday. Jai Hind!

i come from a tamil Iyengar family living in bangalore for 3 generations but i cant speak tamil fluently.
The only Indian language i can read, write and speak is kannada because all my friends predominantly speak kannada.
Out of all my grandparents, only my maternal grandmother could speak tamil.
I have a book of thirupaavi in kannada script.
I want to be a polyglot but don't know the right method to master languages asap.
I am 24 years.
Whenever I try learning tamil like this,
my parents scold me and ask me to learn some coding language instead of this spoken language tamil.
Moreover we have been tortured by the cholas for being Vaishnavas.
This could be a reason to lean over kannada than tamil.
All my relatives speak kannada at home but we know that centuries ago our ancestors came to karnataka from tamil nadu.
Does watching a video like this help me learn tamil?
Learning languages is one of personal choice. The point is it should not be imposed - that is the key point. Hindi should NEVER be imposed as a language to be learnt in school. Secondly, working knowledge of languages can be learnt at any stage. Go to any hotel in TN today, the labor is from the north, the supervisors are from deep TN villages, yet they converse in some limited Hindi and get the job done. So DONT FORCE HINDI at the school level is the point. We will learn if we want to and we want to keep it that way!

I know for a fact that sankaras advaitic thought is attainment of Jnana is nothing but that which propounded that realisa tion is nothing but aham brahmasmi while Ramanujas theory is reaching vaikunta for a mumukshu is saranagatitvam. Sir, Languages are basically man-made. So, Sanskrits origins can be traced. Just see the words for numbers one to ten in some of the European languages and Persian and compare it with Sanskrit Sanskrit Greek Latin Italian Russian

Agreed, Sanskrit was (WAS!) a language of intellectuals some 2000 years ago. How it went out of use? The answer is in the rigidity (தோன்றிய காலத்திலிருந்தே அந்த லிபியில் எந்தவொரு மாற்றமும் செய்யப்படவில்லை)! Maatram onre Maaradadu! Maaraadadu Azhiyum!!
The power of words is in the person who uttered it and wrote it, originally and NOT IN THE WORD itself! So there is nothing sacred about Sanskrit! Modern research has gone deep into what sounds can do to your mind and body.
I recite VinaayagarAgaval everyday and I BELIEVE in it. I think that's what matters. If you BELIEVE your well-being is in reciting Sanskrit Slokas, it WILL be in that only!

2)முன்னோர்கள் வழி ஆத்மாக்களை(பித்ருக்கள்) வணங்குவது "தெய்வ வழிபாடு"
3)மெய்ஞான தத்துவங்களை வணங்குவது "கடவுள் வழிபாடு"..
