      I think it's an awesome video and I hit the like button however I could see some people nitpicking and saying that it's not technically fiberglass because he didn't use fiberglass, he used felt or whatever it was and the resin...

      For the MDF... I don’t care for that junk; use real, exposed, wood.

    Thought it was going to come out bad but after the sanding and paint it looks great. I can only imagine how much better after the carbon fiber dip.

    I just stumbled upon this because I was curious what it would take to make one look really nice and I am impressed. Yeah takes a while and some care but that's why it looks like this and not like cardboard. Plus glad to see all the steps and the explanation.

      I did see that one as well. Thinking about doing a custom Engine Cover for an LS swap that I am doing on a Jeep. Since it is just a decorative piece, I am sure your method would be awesome for this. I like the idea of a felt first layer. Sweet!

    • @DavidGuyton
      @DavidGuyton  7 років тому +1

      It'll work for just about anything that isn't a structural part of the car....however I should point out that you should use fleece, and not felt....two very different fabrics and if you try to use felt you are going to be cursing at me haha

    This is one of the few videos on youtube that is actually worth the watch. there are so many shitty glassers out there

  • @lunarmoon1969
    @lunarmoon1969 10 років тому +5

    Love the technique, I'm already inspired for many projects that I could adapt this to. The fleece over multiple materials to tie them together is outstanding. Just in this video alone: MDF, Plastic, and Metal married by Fabric and Bondo! Brilliant! Especially stronger than vacum forming on a DIY level. Thanks for sharing.

    That really is a great tutorial. I have never thought of using filler and resin together. I seen in other post you use Bondo brand filler. I can see you know what you are doing. But 3M makes several great body fillers like all the lite types they have finishes many times easier than Bondo brand. They don't leave air holes nor do they have hard spots. They sand like a dream. Just thought I'd pass it along. The price isn't much different as well. Thanks for such a good detailed video.
