Ancient Power/Thunder Dynamax Zapdos Solo Battle, NoWB, No GMax, T3 helper, w/ Lv40 team + Mushroom

- Zapdos, following Articuno, has debut in Dynamax Legendary Battle.
Dynamax Zapdos is an Electric/Flying type Pokemon, which is only weak against Ice/Rock type moves. Similar to Dynamax Articuno, its precise stats is unknown, while we believe it has 0.7 CPM with a hidden 2x attack multiplier, shared with Dynamax Articuno. So far, there is no investigation on its HP yet, we can only make a approximation that it is around 12k HP, which is notably lower than Dynamax Articuno's 17.5k.
Once again, Dynamax Zapdos will pick 2 charged moves from its entire movepool as a Max Battle Boss. It would pick one of Zap Cannon/Drill Peck/Thunder/Thunderbolt/Ancient Power as LARGE MOVE and another one as targeted move.
The lack of Rock-type Dynamax Pokemon had already posed a challenge on Dynamax Articuno, but it even escalated on Dynamax Zapdos. Apart from Rock-type, its only weakness is Ice-type, where Dynamax Articuno, Dynamax Cryogonal and Gigantamax Lapras are the only 3 Pokemon with access to Ice-type Max Moves. Unfortunately, none of them are particularly good at offense.
Thankfully, in defense side, Excadrill double resist 4 out of 5 of Dynamax Zapdos' charged move. Even more, it has access to 0.5s fast move, Metal Claw and Mud Shot, as well as a Rock-type charged move, Rock Slide. These make it the best tank against Dynamax Zapdos uncontested.
With Ice-type being rather underwhelming in general, we tried to avoid investing them. Instead, we will use the generalist attacker Dynamax Gengar, which has the higher base attack out of all Dynamax Pokemon released so far.
This time, Dynamax Excadrill and Dynamax Gengar will fight together against Ancient Power/Thunder Dynamax Zapdos as a Solo Battle without weatherboost by utilizing Max Mushroom.
We had avoided using charged move against Dynamax Articuno because Gigantamax Lapras hardly deal any meaningful damage against it. However, our tank this time, Dynamax Excadrill, has access to a super-effective charged move. As such, it is still better to let Dynamax Excadrill use Rock Slide. However, we have to count our Rock Slide usage carefully such that it won't give Dynamax Zapdos opportunity to use an extra charged move.
With careful usage of charged moves, the team has barely defeated Dynamax Zapdos at the end.
Team used:
CP 3232 Dynamax Excadrill - Lv40 14/15/15 Metal Claw/Rock Slide
CP 3197 Dynamax Excadrill - Lv40 14/13/13 Metal Claw/Rock Slide
CP 2857 Dynamax Gengar - Lv40 13/15/15 Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball/Lv3 Max Phantasm
After so many close calls with 4 people with decent counters, I just wanted to say that this is genuinely amazing man, what a show 👏👏
Thank you!
We did 5 with x3 acc x2 acc were powered up and the other 1 was so so... where you fighting Zap when he had drill peck or something mate?
What do you consider decent if I may ask?😅
Wtf? Décent? Bro ive seen people with 1600 cp Pokémon not struggle.
Nice job as always. I appreciate the detailed descriptions you write.
Thank you! Great to hear those information helps!
Great job! You kept us on our toes until the very end, barely making it. That was impressive! I’ll definitely give it a try with my Excadrill and Gengar!
Good luck on your solo!
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527 Thank you!! I’ll probably experiment a bit with a couple of other pokémon as well but it’s so nice we can manage with D-max only 😃
You know G-max aren’t any stringers per say, than D-max right?
*stronger
@@TheLowkeyIsh I actually wouldn’t know, I didn’t get any ☝🏼 But it was my impression that they do more damage during the g-max phase?
Excelent video bro, this helped me so much because I was gonna invest in Cryogonal but after seeing the amount of damage that Gengar does plus being a generalist as you mentioned, I'll go for him.
Yea currently released Ice-type Dynamax Pokemons have really low attack stats... Good luck on your hunt with your Gengar!
MG, it took me a while noticing it wasn't even the gigantamax version. Kudos!
Thank you!
@pogoraidsgameplay2527 just before watching your video I was estimating that gigantamax Gengar >> Lapras > Gigantamax Toxtricity > Articuno, now I'm sure we have this in the pocket.
@@rmartinez24Lapras hits about 4% harder than Gmax Gengar, however, Gengar is more future proof than Lapras imo
@raphaeld4313 thanks for the correction, how did you come up with the right number?
@@rmartinez24 Multiply Lapras's base attack by 1.6 (super effective) and 450 (move base power) on one hand, and Gengar's base attack by 450, and the ratio of Gengar's product over Lapras' product is about 1.0115. So, I might have overestimated that difference. I think I read that 4% somewhere else
This is insane! Good play!
Thank you!
Cant wait to try this solo out😮, super helpful video bro👊🏼
Thank you! Good luck on your solo!
You deserved that shiny zapdos, amazing work.
Thank you!
Congratulations for 1k subs❤
Thank you!
It hasn't even started for me yet and people are already soloing it 😂😭 ggs man
Thank you!
Este tipo es una leyenda ❤😮
Thank you!
Wow!! Great job!! Too bad I already leveled up my Articuno :( haha hope it's good enough
Thank you! Articuno is better than Gengar for Zapdos, good luck on your hunt!
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527 tyvm!! Haha your video was a great inspiration! I tried to rake it down with me and two other trainers and we managed to do well... might try it as a duo tomorrow :D
@@laap9008 Congrats on your hunt!
Congrats on 1h subs. I think I was the 1000 subscriber
Thank you! Great to hear you have enjoyed the videos.
Good stuff🎉
Thank you!
The shiny was so deserved good job
Thank you!
Pancada que o Gengar levou no final doeu.
It is a really close fight yea, should have used a Max Phase for shields.
You are legend bro❤
Thank you!
Thank you
Thank you!
Well played
Thank you!
popped off on the algorithm with this one
Thank you!
This is insane bro first articuno then zapdos 😅😅
Thank you! Zapdos having lower HP made this possible.
I have to questions
1. How many attempts did you need to make it work
2.do you alvays win with this team when zaptos has this movest or is it random?
Only he knows how many attempts, but in order to win this moveset, you want Zapdos to use as many Ancient powers as possible. If it spams the other move, you're likely to fail
It is the first try where I got Ancient Power without Zap Cannon or Drill Peck. I honestly didn’t expect I would make this but Zapdos is being mercy on not using too much Thunder.
Nice solo, do you think I could duo it with these pokemon? (Without max shrooms)
2x 2800 CP Excadrill (same moves as yours)
2x 2800 CP Machamp (both with Rock Slide as charged move)
2x 3200 CP Metagross, both with Meteor Mash
Yes, altho for faster take down, you want Metagross to run Zen headbutt and dynamax with it. Only neutral damage possibility in the team
It would be close, you would really want to avoid Electric moves with that team.
Can you beat it without the mushrooms to ?
I tried, but Zapdos hits too hard. Would need to be insanely lucky where it only use AoE Ancient Power to have a chance
@pogoraidsgameplay2527 then I guess it's time to test my luck or gather my family to fight zapdos
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527 That's even with level 50s and Gmax, right?
@raphaeld4313 yea would want a full XL'd Lapras/drill team, preferably Snow weather too so you don't need to rely that much on move RNG
Fantastic job! As usual you give so many of us hope. Thank you for all the work you put in to making these informative videos.
It's comforting to know what to invest in as well as seeing the possibilities.
Much appreciated! 💪💪
Also congrats on hitting 1k subs!
What do you think about gigantamax lapras as attacker? Or should I invest in Gigantamx Gengar?
Gigantamax Lapras is the strongest attacker so if you want to fight Zapdos it is the best choice.
But you are also noted that Gigantamax Lapras is only 4% stronger than Gigantamax Gengar which can be used against way more bosses. As well as future Dynamax Ice-type can easily outpower Gigantamax Lapras
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527I have one more question lapras with water gun or Frost breath?
@@maciejpawlik6573 Water Gun for faster Max Meter charging. You don't want to see Lapras getting hits
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527 ok thanks
Woah congrats even you got the shiny? Why did you use dynamax gengar instead of gigantamax one?
I tried to avoid GMax to make my team more accessible by everyone.
Finnaly i can use my perfect iv dynamax excadrill
Excadrill is OP in Max Battle. Both STAB 0.5s fast move, triple resist Poison and double resist Rock/Electric moves. And it is also one of the best Ground-type attacker by itself which is super-effective against all those 3 types it tanks well.
Can I take G-Max Gengar too?
Thats even better
G-Max Gengar is strictly better than D-Max one
@ oh okay than I Take this one
Is Gengar better than toxtricity?
Yes
When my Excadrill have 2600 HP and the other 3200 is this also ok??
Could this be possible with 2 excadrill and Articuno? 🤔
It should be, as Dynamax Articuno's max move hits Zapdos a bit harder than Dynamax Gengar's. However, I can only really be sure with this strat and these conditions in particular
Oh yeah, and the other problem is you don't want Arti on the field at all, whereas Gengar can somewhat hold its own having a 0.5s fast move and taking neutral damage from Zapdos moves. So maybe you will want Exca to tank a bit more
Yes it should be possible, Articuno would beat Zapdos slightly faster than Gengar so it should be able to avoid that last hit Gengar had to take.
Bro you was 1/2 second to lose
.
Nice video I really hope you can make the same video with moltres
Yea it was a big missplay to not try stalling for an extra Max Phase with Max Guard.
@pogoraidsgameplay2527 you think an Excadrill with "max guard" and "max life" and dodge the attacks, can survive all the fight like a 1vs1?
.
Obviously that means a loooooot ot time, but you think that is possible??
@@m.reventurado1858 There is a hidden time limit in Dynamax Battle. You would be only able to stall until then.
WHAT???? WHY????? I mean, why the F*** the combat with clearly "NO TIME" have a hidden TIME in there????
.
I mean the energy spot has a dead line of 2 days, why the F**, I can't stay 2 F***kings days in the combat??? 😢😢😢
@@m.reventurado1858 After a while, the boss powers up and its moves deal far more damage. That's also a thing in main series apparently
Thanks
Thank you!
I got 3k exadrill 2.6k exdrill and 2.8k gengar. Is that to weak you think ?
That would be a close fight for sure, you would need to use shields wisely
Can I take Metagross for Solo?
Excadrill's Ground-type is really important for this Solo, you wouldn't want to miss it.
You can get a Dynamax Drilbur by completing the "Win 3 Max Battles" task in timed research
😮😮👏👏
Thank you!
Can I take also Metagross for Solo raid
Excadrill's double Electric resist and Rock Slide are really important for this solo.
@ ok and when my excadrill have 2600 hp and the Otter 3200 hp??
@ Excadrill only take 40% as much damage as Metagross on Zapdos Electric move. So it is a 20% difference in CP vs 60% difference in type advantage
Can I beat it if I do the same team but with gigantamax gengar or do I have to use dynamax gengar
Gigantamax Gengar is strictly better than Dynamax Gengar. You got this
Excadril x2 (3000 pc) metagros (3518 pc) its a great team?
Bro could you explain me about the dinamax boss moves that them use? Its two random charged attacks only?
yes 2 random charged moves, that includes every charged move they could learn including those cannot be learnt by regular charged TM
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527Oh got it, but it's for dynamax only or for gigantamax is the same thing?
@ It applies for all Max Battle bosses, including lower tier like Gastly (Ominous Wind) and GMax like Charizard (Blast Burn)
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527 understood bro, thank you
I'll try Zapdos with 3 people in total, level 25-30 Excadrill one of them with Max Guard Lv2 and then probably an Articuno for damage. I might try Gengar as the third Pokemon too, I have one with Lv2 Max Phantasm.
Shouldn't be much harder than Articuno I guess, even without a supereffective move.
Good luck on your hunt!
Does metal claw charge the meter faster than mud slap/mud shot?
Steel & ground are both resisted by zapdos
Charges faster than Mud slap for sure, and it's on par with Mud shot. Altho Metal claw might be better for raw dps
Metal Claw and Mud Shot charges Max Meter at the same speed (don’t use Mud-Slap). I used Metal Claw since I don’t need that much energy for charged moves and Metal Claw is stronger.
@ I tried to solo- die every time with about 40 % of zapdos left. The thunder/move set isn’t doing the same damage consistently. First time 15% second time on 100% hp exca does 50/60%
@ The second time must have been an unregistered dodge. Either from a misplay or some server desync
Assuming on both occurences, Thunder was the target move?
@raphaeld4313 did the same thing with both thunder & ancient power
Nicer, my favorite pokemon is Gengar
I love Gengar too, it helped me a lot when I started shortmanning raids.
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527 yeah, I'm new player, I still have only Haunter and dynamax Gastly
I have max shields on my gengar should i use them or just attack?
You have to use shields on Excadrill if you want them. Gengar does not offer any good type resistance so its shields does not help the team much.
lvl 2 max phantasm, with another person using max guard, will it be possible to beat dynamax zapdos?
with 2 person you can charge Max Meter faster. You wouldn't need your teammate to use Max Guard, you can just keep attacking.
@pogoraidsgameplay2527 but my teammate only has metagross and excadrill, use excadrill as tank and metagross use psychic move?
@@hohuaze9893 Metagross has almost the same attack stat as Gengar so it would work as the cannon in Dynamax Phase. And yes, it would need Zen Headbutt.
Metagross is not good to be used out of Max Phase though, so you would like switch it out back to Excadrill asap after Dynamax.
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527 but i on't have enough rrsources for metagross to level the max move, is it good enough to just use lvl 2 max phantasm and lvl 1 max psychic?
May I know why you don’t wait until max charge?
I don't exactly know what you are asking about. But if you are asking why did I dodge and collect Max Charge separately, it is because lineup dodge and Max Charge collection together is pretty tricky and inconsistent generally.
I think you mean the timer counter on max moves during the max round? It's because it's a timer counter during the max round, it's not charging up your attack during the max round. So using the attack A.S.A.P. does not affect how much damage your Max attacks do (that's already set by your pokemon's Attack stat & how much you level up your max attack)
Also, there is a ~6 minute 'soft limit' on max raids. Around the six minute mark is then the max raid boss gets enrages and One-Hit-KOs your pokemon. So if you wait for your max attack to "charge up" during the max round, max rounds take longer & you hit that six minute time limit having dealt out less damage to the raid boss.
@@SoonLeeNZ noted, thanks bro
@ You're welcome!
ETA: During max rounds, you have until the timer runs out to choose your max move, if you don't choose, it defaults to max attack when the time runs out.
Super deserved shiny.
Thank you!
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527Its me who have to say thank you, look at that masterpiece solo
Would be better 3 excadrill?
All its Max Move are resisted by Zapdos, so you would be missing the main damage source without running a main cannon.
If I use Lapras will it be better than Gengar?
Much better than dynamax Gengar, about 4% better than Gigantamax Gengar. Be careful though, Lapras does NOT want to eat moves from Zapdos
Yes, it would be much better than Gengar
To be fair, giving the sheer difference in defense/HP stats between Gengar and Lapras, I think you can afford having it to tank 1 move
酷酷酷!
Me ( lv 42 ) and my other lv 42 friend and 2 more lv 34 friends wanna do dynamax zapdos we got pretty good counters does friendship lv affect dmax raids
Friendship bonus applies in Max Battle too, yes.
do you think 3 players all with excadrills could beat this easily then?
It will take some time since Excadrill Max Moves are resisted by Zapdos, but you can survive easily with Excadrill and beat it.
how u get rock slide on excadrill
Available in regular charge TM move pool
Can i use articuno as attacker? Is has 15 attack and Maximozed Max attack.
Because all my lapras are horrible and gengars are not so close to articuno
@ GMax Gengar is still better than DMax Articuno, but DMax Articuno is indeed the best non-GMax option. Surely you can use it as attacker.
If I remember correctly, it goes somewhat like this:
Gmax Lapras > Gmax Gengar > Dmax Arti > Dmax Cryo > Dmax Gengar
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527 ok thx
@@pogoraidsgameplay2527 ah ok
BT91 better start taking notes
lol idk if he would interested in these kind of challenges
His content is closer to challenges that don't require RNG grinds. Which, if you think about it, is rather understandable
Even better with a Gigantamax Gengar than.
Thank you! Yea I avoided using GMax so my team is more accessible this time.
Oh no
Lapras isn't better than ganger?
Only slightly better than Gmax Gengar. Much better than Dmax Gengar
@raphaeld4313 oh than i shouldn't power my 98 Lapras to 3x lv
I have a lv50 gmax gengar already
@@Bookwormwillis Yeah, Gmax Gengar is honestly much more future proof than Gmax Lapras
People said people couldn’t solo it…. You must be more powerful than all other trainers or they are wrong.
Careful planning and execution in battle can make a big difference is my favorite part of Max Battle.
If the people assumed Zap was gonna get the same stamina as Arti, they might have been correct to some extent
crygonal would be better than gengar I guess
Not a solo, 3 others parked in gym....showed at the start
Don't know why that became a popular take, but this is a solo. Pokemons parked are an attack boost like weather or friendship, from unrelated battles.
Those were helper Pokémon other trainers left them earlier. In fact, you can place your own Pokémon in the spot too before Max Monday to guaranteed you can get at least 1 helper later on.
And in the actual fight, I am the only one participated
Of course there is no WB as weather has 0 affect on the battle system in the game lol.
Are you literally following the pogo raids people around to troll them? Stop saying things are facts when you haven’t tried them 😂
Here is a simple experience you can replicate yourself, with no dust nor particle cost, to verify weather does, in fact, have an impact:
Same moves, no helper on either battle, same pokemons. First battle is under cloudy weather and gets Cryo well under yellow health by second dynamax cycle, not even requiring a 4th.
Second battle is done in windy, and Cryogonal survives 4 dynamax cycles, and then some cheap damage.

@@kimberkunoichipwrraidchall3970 wtf?
They ARE facts. Firstly you can google it if you want.
But its imposible for niantic to program 2 different battle systems using the same things, which is why max battles use the same system as pvp. Because pvp is players from different countries, that will most certainly have different weather, they cannot impliment a boost for the battle system. Hence why max battles, do not, and never will gt affected by the weather.
@@kimberkunoichipwrraidchall3970 these ARE facts, and you can goggle it if you want.
Max battles use the same system as the pvp, because its impossible to code 2 things using the same stuff in the same way to give 2 different results. This is why they both use the same system. As pvp is battles across different countries, which will almosy certainly have different weather, they cannot impliment any weather boost to the battle system. If 1 person in pvp has sun and the other has rain any pokemon would conflict each other be ause they would be trying to use both weather boosts. This would cause the game to crash because it cannot possibly try to run both commands for sunny boost and rainy boost at the same time.
This is why, max battles, do not, never have, and never will have weather boost of any kind, it is litterally impossible without niantic taking away the pvp completely.
@@mattf9406Notice how you ignore the comment showing proof that weather affects battles xd
No one came in my area 😅😅😅😅
You can try to battle a spot with a T1 Max Boss before the hour, then you can have at least tier 1 helper to help you on Max Monday.
@pogoraidsgameplay2527 i mean usually there around 6-10 that put their pokemon in the power area. Its just that no one came to do the Monday time even today just now with Zapdos. I was in a mall lol and there was 0 people. How much does having those pokemon help? But at the end of the day if i wanna solo i would need lv 40 pokemon for these legendary dynamax?
@@Chavanun555 yea levels are important since the team would need to be able to tank a lot charged moves in order to solo legendary dmax.

That was Not Good!
Lol good show but I can't understand why you would waste a mushroom just to make a video mate seems like a waste but each to there own I guess lol
To show it's can be soloed if people have no one else that can help them. Or at least an easy duo.
Well a solo is still a solo, if there is no one nearby that’s your only bet to get the Legendary.
