Sausage Crusted Quiche

- Ya know that one recipe that when you share it at a potluck is always the first to go? You make it once and it becomes "your dish" that others begin to expect and look for when they know you've brought something for the buffet. And you just stand back and smile giggling at how easy it is and watching as they clamor for the last piece. And then you wish you'd made a second one and kept it at home!
Well...this is that recipe. It's the one folks will acknowledge first, often request, and always go back for seconds. It's also a recipe that's great for weekend batch cooking because it reheats well for busy mornings.
Oh, and did I mention that it's very low carb? The crust is made of sausage! yeah, you heard me. Sausage! And the filling is creamy and full of satisfying meats like bacon and ham. That's why I called it the Sausage-Crusted Meat Lover's Breakfast Quiche. It's definitely more than a mouthful!

Not only do i appreciate the recipe I'm grateful to you and your family for including all stages of life, even the challenging, awkward ones. As a struggling single mom of 15yo son this gives me hope and encouragement that it's not an entirely uncommon phase even for intact families. Props to Jonathan for putting himself out there and to Mom for making me feel sane. It was literally like watching son and I lol even down to the cheese! But then he'll make your brain explode by only eating cheese pizza.

Hi Kristie I made the sausage crust quiche this evening and it's out of this world delicious!! no wonder there was nothing left after you brought it at your church.I did use the pork rind dust and that was a clever idea .I also used an egg no parmesan cheese though.I will make over again thanks for sharing your recipe two thumbs up👍👍

I think this looks wonderful! I’m going to make it and it also gave me the idea to also try it but use my faves in a quiche which are asparagus and Swiss. I’ll leave in the ham but take out the bacon. Love all your recipes sweet lady! You are so great to the Keto community ❤️

You can precook the sausage, dump it in the baking dish, add the rest of the ingredients. You don't need the Parmesan cheese or pork rinds dust, because the egg mixture will bind it all together.

You cam use amy meat. Ketoconnect uses ham or chicken in their recipe online. Id just add cheese to brown.

@@chloe5susan I can tell you how I make mine - Cream cheese and crumbled breakfast sausage. Just saute them together and it makes a wonderful gravy.
chloe5susan I fry up my sausage. Add a block of cream cheese and a little chicken broth to thin it out if it’s too thick and voila! It’s really really good

It is so weird how teenagers now days are so scared of food! Mind you most “food” is scary but being healthy is a necessity! My teen daughter baffles me as she has seen people almost die from Diabetes and heart issues but still doesn’t want to eat healthy!
The sausage you use at the bottom of the pan do you think ground beef would work for that as well? I have issues digesting pork.
I bet you could season the ground beef with the seasonings typically used in sausage and it would work! Write again if you do and let us know ! 😀
Would be a different taste, but you could try.
Would it mess the recipe up if I started with a pound and a 1/2 of sausage because it seems like that would be awfully thin on a 9 by 13

Looks yummy! Kristie, how do you make pork rind dust? Put pork rinds in your food processor? Or do you bake them first to make them extra crispy first?

I would say so. I make a deep-dish pizza crust using sausage, 1 beaten egg, and 2tbs of Oat Fiber as a binder.

@@Tonsmel it is if you count Net Carbs. It's all Fiber. Just don't confuse it with Oat Flour. They are very different things!

I agree with Jonathan about the cheese. I am not a cheese fan. I would have done Swiss bacon and mushroom but I would have cut back on the cheese considerably.

I don't like cheese or egg yolks and I'm lactose intolerant! But I've been very low carb/KETO since the 1970s and I certainly don't miss or crave these things. They're really not necessary for KETO or low carb and helps cut down on excessive calories.
I used to watch you a year or two ago. I can't help but notice that your weight looks about the same and not much weight loss. I think keto should be done with lower fat for weight loss and higher fat for weight maintenance.
She looks perfectly healthy to me. The healthy weight for some people may be higher than the healthy weight you deem correct.
