I've had the 'rona twice now, and blessedly my sense of smell and taste were only fucked up during the duration of the illness. I couldn't imagine being without a sense of smell for nearly a year, that had to have sucked 😭
I had parosmia too, I would complain to my mother all the time that "the Coke tastes like plastic" and "this pasta tastes like coal" but she would just laugh at me. I clearly had Covid before that too but she didn't care at all. We have free healthcare, she was just lazy and selfish. This has turned depressing. Don't let narcissist parents make you suffer.

I had Covid once.
Dad had it first, then it spread to me and mom. Started off as a mild headache and fever, then that just got worse and worse until I couldn't last without constantly laying on the AC. Parents asked "Why are you lying on the AC?" "It's the only thing that helps my head."
It got worse and worse, to the point where I just felt in pain any moment that I was awake. Then all of my food started to taste extremely bitter. Even orange juice, which made me sad. I could stomach it, but generally didn't enjoy the taste.
Thankfully, I have a good immune system. I felt better within like a day and a half, then was perfectly normal.
My parents had it far worse though. My dad was sick 4 days, and my mom was sick 3. And I was incredibly worried about them! Because my mom has a horrible immune system, and my dad is 60! So despite me being better, it was still quite stressful.
Thank you scribble juice. This helps me a lot. As a person actually deal with the coronavirus right now you help me understand that some people get sick sometimes.❤😢

omg I relate so hard to recovering from covid and then living with parosmia for a year. It was lowkey the most traumatic thing ever and brought me to the lowest point of my life. It didn’t help that my parents didn’t believe that I had covid and saw it as a excuse to skip school. Eventually, I sucked it up and spoke to my dad about it and he took me to the hospital, but nothing came out of it 😭 everything tasted like sewage and I barely ate

Covid is the worst! Got it for the first time after the lockdown ended in my state back in 2022 annnnnd ended up with LONG covid which is still going on. Glad you made a great and full recovery 😊😁

ohhh I think I got covid just by the symptoms you described- it’s a bit hard for me to breathe, my back hurts, sometimes stuff just smell good, etc. been like this for like a week. makes it hard for me to help my gym teacher as an aid since i’m just coughing, hacking and trying not to fall over with my lightheaded self
Oh man i can relate to the Parosmia part so much! the first year of having it i couldn't eat any meat (especially chicken, pork was somewhat fine?)or some other foods or smell anything food related, going in restaurants or near any place that made food just to me smelled like sewage/trash and nobody took me seriously when i said that food testes and smelled like garbage to me or even just laughed it off as "you just need to do more stuff to get hungrier then you'll eat anything" ??? thankfully after almost 2 and a half years? of having this issue my taste has gotten a bit better for certain foods or most foods but my smell is still iffy ._.
