Was never much of a disco fan. My wife got tickets to the 25th anniversary of the star plaza theater in Merriville In. through her company so we went. As I found out she was the one who opened up the theater so she was brought back for the 25th. Didn't know what to expect, what I found out was she was 1 of the best entertainers I ever saw! AND WHAT A VOICE! Nothing but respect since.
Our great Diva had passed away... We the good generation forever remember how her great voice & songs illuminated the 1970's, she was a true power-house. I still remember well, as a teenage boy, I listened to her singing of MacArthur Park on the radio on hot, humid summer days & felt mesmerized by the mysterious lyrics of the song which I didn't quite able to appreciate at the time... Donna, you're part of my youth memory. May you rest in peace Diva !
I got this show in VHS and don't think I can play it anymore... thanks for the wonderful person who shared here in UA-cam... This show just bring me so much memories !
I think the song sounds more powerful and emotional on the lower key. But honestly, it is amazing how sweet and angelic she can sound with a higher voice, but how strong and powerful she can sound with her lower belts. She really was one of a kind.
I understand. Lots of things flowing through my mind. Just hate to know she's gone. God, she was so talented and so beautiful!! I just learned of another great RnB singer who just passed away, Ron Banks.
I want a biopic. I feel that there are a lot of things to explore in Donna the public figure-how did the record industry treat her as a woman, as a black woman? I want to know who mistreated her, who they are and what their names were. Having seen Giorgio Moroder live, I got the sense that he reveres her now with utter adoration-but she ultimately wanted to escape the hypersexualized image that arose from their collaborations. This performance, though incredibly technically talented, feels wooden to watch-and she honestly also deserved so much more than the community theater level production value. Make no mistake-I adore Donna, I just feel that she was a casualty to an era that didn’t know how to react to her, and most likely did not pay her enough, and a society who punished her for the sexuality she expressed in her early career. Who would she be today? I listen to MacArthur Park and hear a woman who feels utterly free and joyous. I watch this performance and see someone who looks guarded. Begging for a biopic that delves deep.
This was the first time I was able to see Donna in concert , mostly because she often performed in casinos. So at 21 I went to Atlantic City with my mom to see her the first of many times.
Sarà sempre la migliore cantante che abbiamo avuto. Le sue canzoni saranno sempre le migliori .Sono contenta di vedere suoi video sembra che ancora con noi
Donna Summer's early theatrical singing experience (and also singing in a rock band) contribute to her incredible voice. She is one of the most dynamic live vocalists that ever lived. She could sing anything. We are lucky to have been graced by her talent and beauty. Rest in Power Queen.
I noticed that even though it is only 1983, she singing this tune a step or so lower than she normally would. I know she still had the ability for higher keys but just wondered why she did it this low. Some performers, I can only guess, want to preserve their voices for stamina reasons. Maybe it was the case here. Either way, she was still all that!!! RIP gorgeous. . ♥
Song I feel love. Donna Summer is world. I peace. O resto eh jamais, como assim, eh pura verdade!. E claro jogo limpo, embora não quero julgar, e soh quero saber mais?ahhahahahh..
Spring was never waiting for us, dear It ran one step ahead As we followed in the dance MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark All the sweet, green icing flowing down Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, no I recall the yellow cotton dress Foaming like a wave On the ground beneath your knees The birds, like tender babies in your hands And the old men playing Chinese checkers by the trees MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark All the sweet, green icing flowing down Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, no MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark All the sweet, green icing flowing down Someone left my cake out in the rain And I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, no, oh
ok, 1980,my rabbit(caribe in mexico) going from satelite to tecamachalco, rabbit lowered, koni shocks pirelli tires, pioneer stereo aprox 100 watts,Recaro C seats, no restrictions (17 years, what the hek, cero humenaized) no police.just fantastic!! adolecence great!!
Woodie all songs are not arranged to sing in higher keys.... This song is better starting out in a lower key so that she can build it up and bang it out at the end... better effect for this particular song...:-)
It sounds like she opens her mouth, and an angel sings. No strain, no effort, just grace.

Donna Summer MacArthur Park 1983
My Love. I wish You Never Left Us 😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Spring was never waiting for us, dear
It ran one step ahead
As we followed in the dance
MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no
I recall the yellow cotton dress
Foaming like a wave
On the ground beneath your knees
The birds, like tender babies in your hands
And the old men playing Chinese checkers by the trees
MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no
MacArthur's Park is melting in the dark
All the sweet, green icing flowing down
Someone left my cake out in the rain
And I don't think that I can take it
'Cause it took so long to bake it
And I'll never have that recipe again
Oh, no, oh
