If the "nutrition information" is displayed as in what is seen on the can at ~2:20, it is mid 1970s-early 1990s. The "Nutrition Facts" in bold lettering enclosed in a box started in 1993 which is right when I started my 1st job at a supermarket. I remember really early on when working there we had a training class on the "new" labeling and some of the old ladies I worked with at the time were mesmerized by it and some saying it went "too far" whatever they meant by that. Another great video, keep it up! Your vids make my day!

Im a collector of unopened drinks from alcohol to soda and unopened foods my favorites in my collection being a unopened box of soviet macaroni and a unopened can of krill when I first saw your channel it immediately got me hooked again into collecting this again Right now in a corner in my room I got atleast 250-300 pounds of vintage liquids sitting on a rack gonna keep collecting thanks for the content ❤️

Might help with your higher magnification. I also think what you saw crystals with your milk. Not sure what kind though.
While some eucaryotes, such as protozoa, algae and yeast, can be seen at magnifications of 200X-400X, most bacteria can only be seen with 1000X magnification. i don’t think his microscope goes further than 100x magnification:(
I love the microscope stuff! Have you ever looked at water samples from the frog ponds? Bet you'd find all kinds of cool things like stentors, paramecium, etc.

What got me was the side of the cans has pies and brownies when this milk is better for savory dishes. The condensed milk is better for ice cream and pies. In the south evaporated milk is used in sawmill gravy.

I remember as a kid having one of those Pet milk cans. I opened it up and there was a cow staring back at me, but not a miniature one like the picture, a whole cow compressed into the tiny can staring at me. Opening the can released the pressure and this huge deformed cow burst out of the can and started shooting milk all over the room. It was pretty traumatic and put me off canned cows for life.

In 1996, canned food shelf life was roughly 1 year from canning date. Now, I have tuna in my cabinets that is good till 2026, That have been in my cab for about year now. Times have changed, the chemicals are getting better at killing us. lol
When I was young, the old folks on the CB radio called us kids the Pet Milk boys. I only drank Borden, so I we were ridiculed by them we went to the retirement channel and plugged those ears lol.
I found a full, unopened, bottle of bud wiser buried in the woods from some unknown time and thought of you. No label, very rusty cap, but still shows fizz when shook! Has to be 15+years old.
The older cans definitely seem like they had more imagination put into their graphics. Older advertisements as well just look much more vibrant and aesthetically pleasing

I remember my mom trying to fool me with evaporated milk in my cereal before school. I remember saying "it's warm" and she would put ice cubes in it. 😆 I guess we would run out of fresh and she always had some back up of the evaporated kind for cooking and all.

We had powdered milk for ever until we started school and found out how the other side lived lol

I'd imagine that sweetened evaporated/condensed milk probably lasts a lot longer than the plain variety, might be worth investigating
You're right because it had previously been cooked and boiled it has a lower chance of curdling
