This town is a dump in more ways than one. These areas in Brooklyn are gentrification projects. $3500 for rent over there, that's crazy. We need a real estate crash..
Nope! *WE* don't need nothing! These people voted for this! Don't argue! They are reaping what they have sown!🤷🏿♂️👌🏿👍🏿🫨
Gentrification at its finest...people wake up...your about to be kicked out!
My town is not a dump.
Maybe we could go back to the 70's and 80's when we had blocks and blocks of vacant burned out buildings and a city population of 1.5 million less than we have now...Sounds like a plan!
Do not insult the area due to management's irresponsibility. The neighborhood didn't ruin the building; a lack of quality control BY MANAGEMENT did that!
They build those buildings so fast. I'm surprised the wind didn't blow them away smfh.
that will only happen when the building reaches 90% section 8
@@JohnDoe-sx2zk fun facts, more J£ws are on section 8. Here in NYC let that sink in for a moment.
You aren't lying about that.
@@JohnDoe-sx2zk These buildings don't take Section 8. Ur comment makes no sense. The problem is poor building structure.
It's not about fast building. It's about poor construction, & possibly cheap materials. Building shouldn't take long if u have the materials available & the man power.
Be smart ..... Contact a good Attorney NOW .... Don't listen to the Management company who may have already known their building was inadequate .... They will possibly just keep stalling. Get the legal process started so that it will wake them up!! It's a health and safety Hazzard for all affected Tenants!! You cannot live in those conditions. 🇬🇧 UK
Be smart follow lease requirements of having renters insurance things like this happen contractors are running all over fixing busted pipes
Facts
Yes! Thank you! I’m Sabrina from the story. I’m on it!
Right. They would hesitate to up rent and put you out with no problem. Do what you need to protect your interest as that is what they are doing
💯
Landlord will charge more for an indoor waterfall
OMG, you are correct lol!
Another reason I'm not a fan of the new development that has been going on in NYC, all the loophole ND laced regulations has created crappy property development.
Exactly!!! 😡 I’m Sabrina from the story. Learning my lessons through this experience indeed. 😞
@@backiinatural Sending You Well Wishes. Hope You Get everything Resolved 🙏
I agree!! My friend moved into a brand new building… Within 6 months!! Rats quickly invaded the building and his apartment.
There's going to be so much mold.
People are so UNGRATEFUL. The management company goes out of its way to provide these people with an indoor waterfall, and all they do is complain.
A beautiful waterfall at that! Smh!🤦🏿♂️😤
🤣
😂😂😂 Had to laugh at that one…I’m Sabrina from the story. Thanks for the comic relief 🌊
@@backiinatural I'm glad I could make you laugh in the midst of all this... God bless you, Ms Clery!
They charge all this money for apartments and they can keep it
Same thing happened to us a few years back in Crown Heights. We sued and won.
Who did you use and how long did the process take
Tenant to acquire Renter's Insurance. Owners' insurance policy does not cover tenants' possessions.
Good point. If you decide to live in one of these gentrification projects in Brooklyn, get insurance..
This is what baffles me… $3,500 a month for that?! These landlords are jokes 😂
So are teants. They pay it. Those tiny apartments with thin walls and floors. Outrageous. It's disgusting how much they charge and don't even care about something they are responsible for.
Chinese parts that were bought during the pandemic and economic hardship.
Blame the morons willing to pay it.
I wouldn’t pay $3,500 for those flizzy Apts.
@@pisces5843 i wouldnt pay 350 pesos
They renters need to contact good lawyers to sue the property management company
And the owners
Not the property mgmt or owners fault. I would say the contractors and whoever approved the work and signed off on it, which is usually DOB.
@@nmg123abc I just hope they had flood insurance....
Lawyers only help landlords. I have unbelievable proof of negligence, breaking fire code, retaliation, utility theft and significant personal injury etc. It's so bad legal aid is involved. Yet I need a traditional attorney and can not find one
@@sisvstwins8809 In what court in NY you seen that Lawyers only help landlords? Most landlords have to pay private attorney, they dont get to use legal aid. Their job is to help the landlord or whoever is paying them but the court always sides with the tenants.
The quality of new construction is just baffling. This is why pre-war buildings are so much more desirable as they’re actually built to last. The paper-maché buildings these days are just garbage and downright climate arson.
pre-war buildings are also ALL roach infested. I've lived in plenty
@@MizTheDonGargon souds like a sanitation/maintenance issue, not faulty construction. Without proper upkeep any apt building, new or old, will experience the same problems.
@@nich2475 Exactly. I lived n a prewar building n the BX. I had no roaches & my apt was the real definition of spacious. Ur ABSOLUTELY right...roaches is a sanitation issue.
All that money and it's still not worth it. Those landlords really need to be called out and seriously be held accountable. It's illegal what they get away with and the lies they told in that statement are something else.
Indeed! I’m Sabrina from the story. They gave that “statement” while not even consistently communicating with us and during the holidays no less. Felt so heartless.
@@backiinaturalhello Sabrina. So sorry that you and your neighbors are going through this. Yeah, that message was very generic and was not sincere. Wishing you all the best of luck with this. I’m glad you guys got it on the news to get some results because this is just crazy.
Things that always glitter aren’t gold … hire your own inspectors so you know your getting your moneys worth
Poorly built new development and the tenants that crazy enough pay $3500 per month for RENT
atleast they all have an indoor pool
I hear you but we could only know it’s poorly built after something like this happens. Third year here and never had an issue. It’s also not that crazy of price with four bedrooms and roommates. I’m Sabrina from the story.
@@backiinatural this is the new norm of new builds across the country sadly enough and $3500 for 4 bdrms isn’t bad especially for nyc.
It’s not surprising the way they just throw these new developments up so quickly. With bad contractors using low grade material so they can cut costs what do you expect. it’s gentrification at it’s finest 🤦🏾
These are one of those “luxury” building that they put up in less than a year. Clearly put together with cheap material, but they charge ridiculous rents all to increase their profits. This is why I don’t like the idea of renting in a newer building. To many corners are being cut in construction. Remember hearing a story about a luxury high rising in san Francisco that was sinking a couple of inches every year.😵💫
also once the setting starts there goes the cracks in the walls and ceilings.
With All these Buildings Going Up within Months, and Hiring Cheap Labor.
This is a Sign of Many Similar Things to Surely Come.
Most of the new developments in Brooklyn are facades. Theyre being constructed very quickly and sometimes lack the proper insulation, which may be a reason why the sprinkler system would be affected by the weather.
Badly Constructed 🤔🤔
Building quickly is not an issue when u have the proper available supplies & manpower. Taking longer 2 build something doesn't get u a better product. This isn't a skyscraper. It's a residential building.
@@mistermilkman that may be correct, but I mentioned poor insulation as a probable cause.
I work cleaning these buildings for years this is not the first time it's happened with the new building and it's not going to be the last
Hilarious how fire code for new construction requires sprinkler system which was building's demise
No, this flood was the result of poor wall insulation placement, not the fire codes fault. Someone trapped the pipes with cold air, and thermally insulated the pipes away from the warm inside air
Local Law 10 of 1999 amended the NYC administrative code "in relation to the installation of sprinkler systems and other fire protection measures in certain residential occupancies." It was was enacted after a number of fatal fires that took place the preceding year.
@@62Cristoforo as I said, from the sprinkler system
This is when renters insurance comes into play.
Guess there going to learn how difficult it is to deal with the bureaucracy of how slow the city is to respond to issuing permits and how incompetent property management companies can be. At $3,500 they’d be better off paying a mortgage than living in those paper thin walls.
Democrats! Corrupt democrats!
Indeed 😩 Thank you! I’m Sabrina from the story. Lots of red tape and barriers of entry for a mortgage in this city as well however 😣
Truth!
Yes..I understand some people don't want the responsibility of owning a house. You can rent a house and still don't pay that much.. smh
I knew it was frozen pipes
Next comes the mold.
This usually happens in NYCHA - finally the yuppies know what the poor go through on a regular basis
Old building probably slum covered up
Pay 3000$ a month for that huh??? Sad part u can sue everyone can. Owner can just file for bankruptcy. This can be a insurance scam. Kick everyone out. Fix it up. Charge even more
Insulation covered the pipes, and trapped in the cold air, causing the water in the pipes to freeze and break open the steel pipes.
Solution; Remove the old (water logged) insulation and replace it with new (dry) insulation, but make sure it is placed between the exterior wall and the pipes; don’t cover the pipes! Allow the pipes to be the same temperature are the inside of the (heated) stairwell
Roofer, plumber, engineer or architect?
🤔 am going to need a second opinion.
No, yes, yes, no. And electrician, locksmith, mechanic, fire alarm & sprinkler installer, and a student of building envelope science
How is it so easy for you to quickly provide a solution, yet the management company is acting like finding a company to fix the problem is such an impossible mission? These slumlords are allowed to get away with murder in NY.
@@reesebloom8093they don’t care this is America everything is for profit.. no one said anything about quality
Let's see how they paying for reimbursement!
Low CLASS-NESS!! They need to cut everyone at least a 50K check. Unbelievable. You're a management company. Therefore, MANAGE!!!
If you rent make sure you have a Renters Insuranc policy. If you own the rentals make it mandatory for renters to have renters Insurance. Renters insurance will aide in relocation and with your personal property losses. You are right you live in nice place so get the right Renters Insurance policy.
Surprisingly a lot of renter's insurance don't cover flooding. They cover fire damage and theft but not flooding at least in nyc.
I hope they have renter's insurance, which covers all damages and even housing expenses, while they wait for the apartment to get repaired.
Wow this happened to me before in NJ and NY...
Watch out with black mold that would be forming behind the refrigerator the cabinet just be aware
$3500 a month for WHAT again?........NYC rental market is GARBAGE.
This is why some states require renters to have renters insurance, they don't care if you don't pay after that first payment.
$3500 on Flatbush y’all nuccas crazy
That's the hood. Sad part. Landlords and developers just staying just because they fix it up all like new they can charge suburb prices to live smackdown middle of the hood. I'm good ☮️
@@witcheshour9718 Facts I’m FROM BK we know it’s the hood. These people can’t be from Bk paying those prices I have to assume they are unaware.
@@plforeal4392 gentrification freaks. Wtye ppl sick of living in the suburbs. So they trying to price ppl out the city. So they can have the city life and be close to work. Renters insurance is a must. The homeowners Insurace only protects the landlord.
This is why I moved into a VAN. Now, my monthly payment for my RV is less than my rent. Yes, I have gas expenses now, but it is all worth it for the freedom from neighbors.
Nah you tweaking
I thank God for where im at, and was able to escape NYC. I pay less in mortgage and i am my own landlord. I hope to not ever have to deal with "property management" in my lifetime.
Lol so you come here to brag about yaself? 🤡
@@_andresss07 yes qnd you took the time to reply 🤣
Facts!!! I’m Sabrina from the story. So over NYC and this was the straw that broke the camel’s back 😖
Newsflash, pipes bursting in walls is not unusual. It can happen in private homes. As a matter of fact I think it happens more often in pvt homes.
@@nmg123abc but I can do something about it and not wait for "property management" to do so. I have full control of how i insulate the pipes of my home, and how warm i want to keep it to prevent them from bursting.
In this case, youre in the mercy of multiple intermediaries to get the job done.
Why wasn't the main coming into the building turned off immediately?? Someone should've just turned it off right away....sad
Ding ding 🛎️
I live in Rockland (spring valley NY) the 7th floor of the building caught fire last year causing water damages through the 4th floor where I am people came and did water assessment open some walls in my apartment making it look like a wear house and water stains in living room and kitchen. Since then no one says anything to me and when I call they say they are sending someone I haven’t seen anyone for the 4 times I called a few weeks apart. Meanwhile they fixed the 7th and 6th floor renting them out already. The night of the fire if it wasn’t for Red Cross those people would have nowhere to stay. Choice property management didn’t even send a text alerting the tenants there is or was a fire in the building. A year later I am still waiting on them so frustrated didn’t even put out a Christmas tree this year.
Sue Sue Sue
Blame the Govenor Mayor and anyone in charge of building permits folks know some of them are on the take, what is happening to this country to NY...
The American Greed !!!
They should've put u n 1 of those empty apts until urs was fixed.
Get the District Attorney of New York for these RENT PRICES AND NO HELP FROM MANAGEMENT A BIG SCAM FOR TENANTS.😡
But why is the fire alarm going off?
This is very sad and I grew up on snyder Avenue 4 blocks from this building and the building is built too shoddy 😳😳😳😱😱😡😡😤
I also live in a “rehabbed” Brooklyn building. The insulation is so substandard that when my upstairs neighbor drops a coin, I hear it. When she crawls into her bed, I can hear her bed creak! I thank ALL of the gods that she doesn’t have a man, because I would never sleep.
Oh, Saturday night, my bed was rained on, but not nearly as badly as these unfortunate renters!
Someone was “negligent”according to the landlord!
"new building" "$3500?" That's a lawsuit.
Go to the synagogue and tell the landlord to fix it.

You are anti-Semitic. What does religion have to do with it? You should be ashamed.
@@michals000 all Jews don't own buildings you BLM dope
this management company is horrid I had the same issue in one of their “brand new “ buildings
Renters insurance $15 - 100 monthly!
Ridiculous
Everyone's pipes exploded that day, mines did also.
We had someone bust out the basement window on a 8 unit Christmas there was no water Christmas day there was a water fall hard to get a plumber out
Mother's apt bathroom still not finished. Hot water cold water and the bathtub drain all cracked frozen. Friend works as a facilities management and it was a really bad day for him.
Unacceptable!!!!!
The way every little space they are throwing up new developments at warped speed this is not an isolated occurrence
3500 a month?!?!?!? That's more then my mortgage.
It's very bad in NYC today
It always surprises me that there are people who take the landlords side
I'm just glad I don't live in Brooklyn.
But this did happen to me once Until maintenance came by and fixed it all up. And there hasn't been another flood sense.
That looks like a structural issue. I don't think maintenence alone can fix that.
@@mistermilkman True But it was taken care of by a few maintenance workers.
Renter insurance
Of course management company is doing nothing!!! The only time management company will do something is if your rent is late. DUH🙄 You folks can afford to pay $3500 a month for rent? Then you certainly can afford to pay mortgage and own your own. $3500 x 12 = $42,000. You tenants deserve this🙄
Sad!
Same here
😕that much water,,you better get out,,those aparments are gonna come down ,,is not safe,,,i just hope there s no open electric wires,,
So no one knows we’re the water shut off the building is?
Absolutely not for that type of money shame on the building department
Crazy when you think pumps are constantly pumping water out underground Ny
Sooo, that's messed up but people do realize apartments aren't going to replace your things....they are supposed to provide a livable space and if one is not provided provide alternative accommodations and or break lease agreements. That is what renters insurance is for.....I think they need to teach this in middle and high school.
So sad
This is why I hate apartments!
What complex is this?
NY is getting worse by the day. I love visiting, but I would never live there. Good luck to everyone. 🤦🏽🙏🏽
Why they show a weed plant when they say new construction?
its only going to get worse in a city like NYC, a lot of these newer developments are poorly made. Also, people need to be realistic on the state of things. Getting the right type of people to fix these types of issues is going to take time. This country is starting to see the effects of the lack of people in trade professions. People who can fix burst pipes, drywall, and insulation are charging a premium, and there are alot less of these people to go around.
why did no one walk up to the sprinkler system and cut it off? OY. management is not financially responsible for rental damages. i am surprised a news organization didn't know this. the reason it's taking forever for ya'll is because the management is more than likely not getting funding and response from ownership. it's just basic apartment dwelling nyc, 101.
This is happening all over the country. These lazy builders have the audacity to OVER CHARGE for these poorly built buildings. Vegas, Houston, utah it's being reported EVERYWHERE sue all of them!!
People need to look into this high price rent in these no good apartments. They look alright outside but on the inside, it's a joke and you realize you're overpaying. For what??
What address did this occur?
I believe it occurred at 2823 Snyder Avenue in Brooklyn and 2825 Snyder Avenue Brooklyn.
The two buildings are connected together.
That's what I got from watching the video.
They won't pay anything for personal belongings. This happened to me. Thats why you need renters insurance.
Frustrated is n understatement . Wow
The guard getting easy money there
Will now they know how people in public housing feel 🙄
Sheeeeesh I hope that don't happen to my spot. I just got in a new building in Queens. God bless the tenants
There should've been a live in super in that building!! Shut down the main and drain the system...very simple procedure folks!!
Be prepared for the bad storm
All those new buildings are being built to fast by greedy builders looking to get rich fast, smh it's a dam shame.
and not for nothing, dude, the fire department could have handled it as well. come on.
So much money in rent to get this ??? Ridiculous
In door shower's .. that's ..!!! YAY 😁😊.!!!!
This horrible. Notice they said they would pay for eligible expenses. What will they deem eligible.hmmmm. sad to say but get renters insurance and find out what it covers...Hope they get help soon. 3500 is ALOT to pay for something like that to happen
Send the Builders to Prison! Lower the rent…buildings are too cheaply built in the first place!
Should’ve never gentrified here !!! Ruining NYC prices for everything 🤦🏻♂️
OMG!SPRINKLER SYSTEM? THEY NEEDED A CONEY ISLAND LIFEGUARD TO SAVE THEM FROM DROWNING! LOL 😆 🤣 We pay half of that and our landlord just installed Fire Extinguishers on every floor so their is no water damage. I HOPE INSURANCE HELPS cover some losses!
Sad.. just like living in a NYCHA building.
there is no fixing that, the water will have caused mould to develop
*the amount of rent & newness doesn’t make it good quality it*
Oh may goodness what’s up with my city BK stand up help these ppl
They walk into their "luxury high rise building" with their head held high, and dealing with the same BS maintenance issue as the ppl I'm NYCHA. Them paper doll moldy buildings and paper towel roll pipes with their felon drug dealer door men, got them feeling lit. I worked in management for these type of scam buildings and the tenants there think they're winning. Only if they knew.
The circumstances are different, because in truth, the tenants in that flooded building have the ability to break the lease and move on to another building. The people in NYCHA however tend to be life long tenants, who remain, regardless of the circumstances of the apartment conditions.
Huh is the JP Morgan investment that has bought up rented properties??
It said for “eligible costs”! Everything that was DESTROYED BY THE WATER LEAKING IS ELIGIBLE FOR PAYMENT FOR THE DESTRUCTION THAT WAS CAUSED BY YOUR WATER LEAK MR OWNER!!!!!
