Loved the fact that they are talking like they are best friends but they have just met, thats crazy. Loved Denis vibes I hope to see her around Dive more often!
Also at the 19:49 mark, when talking about feeling in the middle with "oh you're Korean, why can't you speak Korean" and feeling torn, I can relate to a degree. I'm half Mexican and half white but grew up in a small town inbetween Atlanta and Nashville and neither community accepted me. Always got "why don't you speak Spanish/Mexican" "you're not REALLY Mexican" but wasn't accepted in the white community because I'm mixed and being a southern, didn't mix well. It's heartbreaking to hear other people have similar experiences but also nice to have people to relate to/understand you. Amazing episode!!
I 100% agree I am also half mexican and half white and I was never taught Spanish so I really didn't feel like i fit in because you could see I was mixed. I also got the you are not mexican because you don't speak Spanish honesty such a hard thing to go through because it nothing you can can control. I was alittle bit luckier to grown up in California, where there is a big hispanic community but even then I went to an almost a white school and felt so out of place
Same...I’m Mexican American but pale skinned...Spanish is my first language but since here everyone only really talks in English I kind of forget some words and overthink what I’m saying now
Same. I'm Chinese but I have grown up in Indonesia. Even my parents, my grandparents, parents of my grandparents all born and raised in Indonesia. So I don't know how to speak Chinese. I was like that too when people ask me "so you're Chinese but why can't you speak mandarin?"

THIS IS SO WHOLESOME????? I was smiling the whole 55 minutes like a fool!! Denise was fangirling so hard and I can feel how nervous she was but she did SO GREAT. I just love how smart and humble she is when she talks and opens up about her struggles as a Korean-American. I really hope Koreans would appreciate DIVE podcasts more for how important it is to have a platform like this where idols can just be themselves and talk about anything and getting more personal, it really opens up new perspectives.
A couple days ago Ashley on instagram asked what guest they should have on the Get Real podcast. I suggested Secret Number and now boom Denise on Catching Up with Eric. Kinda suggested that out of the blue to keep it English and have the perspective of rookies but damn she's awesome, so comfortable and friendly and real. This won't be the last time she's on DIVE. Very fun interview.
From this video, and from the news that Denise not in Secret Number anymore, i can figure out that being a "idol" is not Denise want. Denise want be artist a musician. Just want the best for you, Denise!! Good luck for your dream💖💖
Denise looks so mature and smart here. She shows her other charmings we never see in this segment. She has a wide knowledge and stays humble. She's literally the Korean version of me. Same age, same year of birth, watched the same shows as kids, had the same dream because of what she watched, maknae of her family before her younger cousins were born. It's freaky how much like me she is

Gotta also give props to Eric for a great interview. The way he frames the question allows Denise to get deep into the topics, and it's nice to see how comfortable and relaxed the whole situation is.
I like how she used memes when she was talking.
omg me too, she use like 3 or 4 memes right? or more?
ua-cam.com/video/LdNPiyl1YqQ/v-deo.html
I love how chatty she is and she has that girl next door vibe. The dynamic with the rest of team members are cool. It's good in international perspective, and hope it works with Korean culture as well...
"I never really wanted to be a celebrity, i came here just to make music." This young lady's wisdom is way beyond her years. (Props to her OG cousins!) Btw, I came here after watching her awesome performance in KOMS! She totally slayed that BTS' ON. And now I can't get enough! I love how bubbly she can get yet still be charming. Guess i won't be sleeping tonight. Well, it is what is!

I love this girl I wanna see her browser history.
Zoomer for sure
This girl literally iconic
She's also very well spoken, not using the valley girl vocabs
I love how Denise can carry a conversation and make it fully interesting for minutes and minutes....also, I love when Kpop idols are up to date with modern English phrases and not so formal like when non-English speakers try speaking it.
I mean...Eric and Denise are both American
@@priyanshirathi2103 I know, I’m just talking about Kpop idols in general 😊
S A right
@S A im sorry. All I was saying is that I like how they talk with confidence and fluidity, jeez...
@@TheArtistof I definitely understand that and I find it kinda cool too like they sound almost relatable in a way imo. I guess people could see how you worded your comment in a different way and find it rude while others don't have a problem with what you said. Besides, it's not like you were bashing the idols that speak "formal" (ig) english in comparison to the ones that speak more common, modern phrases 😊
i can hear to Denise's talking a whole day without feeling any bother. i love her voice she sounds so cute.
Yes! right?
Ikr
and the way she talk is so interesting and she's funny!
Loved the fact that they are talking like they are best friends but they have just met, thats crazy. Loved Denis vibes I hope to see her around Dive more often!
i've never heard of her or secret number but i loved her energy so much that i just voted for them for mama roty lmao
They just had a comeback...
ua-cam.com/video/ljdwsoYTq7I/v-deo.html
Check their b-side PRIVACY too.. that's a beautiful song
Watch them on variety show.. they are super funny
Thankyouuu
"what's your favorite season?" - "of brooklyn 99?" HAHAHAHAHA I LOVE HER
She's wiser than her age, how cool is that!!
Secret Number is The Monster Rookie! We stan multilingual queens! Lea, Dita, Jinny, Soodam, Denise - FIGHTING!!! Xoxo
Coming here today and denise's contract has ended with her company and her departure from Secret Number was revealed through her instagram post, everything aside but lockeys will forever love her for what she has done for Secret Number progress snd for giving the best of herself to the members snd fans xoxo❤
I love how she don’t bad talk or say anything negative about her old company (YG Entertainment)
she was on YG??
@@dinahzavitri7351 yeah former YG trainee her and Jinny :) there were seen in YG Netflix sitcom as well :) and both of the girls were rumored a lot about YG new girl group and many more.
@@kev4812 what sitcom?
why would tho?
Warning : dont talk about your age in front of eric if you are younger than him, he'll end up sulking
I'm older than him, I should go on his show to him feel young. And also to be the most random guest ever.
He is not THAT old, and he's looking really fine. Ugh why people so obsessed with young age. For some people, they're looking better when they look mature, Eric aging like wine.
@@NurmaBP its not people who obsessed with that I think. It was Eric reaction that always cute when hearing those 'age' thing.
@@NurmaBP relax, they probably meant it as a joke, cuz Eric always gets funny when it comes to his age and it's really cute.
she's younger than me but she's really good at talking. wow she's amazing!
She seems to be a nice and relatable person. Time to stan. Thanks for inviting her to the show.
I don't know why i feel so cringy when I heard some idol speak English but dang when she speak she's rapping. she speaks hella fast. Usually Eric speak a lot in other video but here Eric just listen to Denise rapping lol😂 I don't know her but imma go check.
She is Denise Kim, maknae and main vocal in Secret Number (a rookie gg, debuted May 2020)
she is born and grow up at Houston, Texas.
That's why she is fluent in english.
Maybe you can check their debut song called Who Dis and Holiday (bside track) and i guess they will have a comeback song in October. Hope you like their song! 🙏
@@yusfida3520 20-11-04 their comeback!
Hi 💖💖💖 .. let's support our girls ... VOTE THEM ON MAMA 2020🔥🔥🔥 SECRET NUMBER for BEST NEW FEMALE ARTIS 🥰🥰🥰 don't forget for their COMEBACK on NOVEMBER 4th
O dang!!
The problem is your English skill.
This maknae, omg. She is so MUCH mature.
Denise is the friend that I want to have because her energy is so great. She's chill but also energetic at the same time and I feel like we could talk for hours.
Denise is soo cool and down to earth! I love her personality soo much!! This girl is very intelligent and had a great upbringing! Wish her great successes in the future! I'm Definitely gonna check out Secret Number! 🙌🏾

SOOOOO I WAS SO SHOCKED WHEN SHE MENTIONED JOHN MULANEY!!!!! HAHAHA OMG!!!!!!! I LOVE HOW FRESH DENISE IS. I THINK DIVE NEEDS HER. DIVE NEEDS THIS YOUNG FRESH LADY RIGHT HERE!!!!!!!
Cause denise growing up overseas, she's greatly matured I love her so much 😭😭♥️
Wow Denise is very down to earth. Might just go watch some Secret Number videos!
Good luck in the KPOP industry if you see this!!!! (which i doubt)
Ok dive, this time to make denise as regular member
Denise is such a sweetheart and I’m so happy she got to be on here. It was nice hearing someone almost exactly my age speak about what it’s like being, well, who she is.
“I stopped paying attention one day and everything went downhill”
Story of my life 😂😂😭
Other english speaking idols usually include 'like' in every sentence which is kinda annoying sometimes. But this girl.. DANG! Best speaker y'all!!! 💯
Totally agree
She's seems very well educated and well spoken without the valley girl accents
Ok, let's check secret number..they are unique
Its easier to get closer and get to know secret number for international fans, 3 of the member so fluent in english, and the rest of the member can understand a little bit. Thats why international fans feel closer to them
" Talented young lady " yaassd Queen ❤️
Big love Eric for having there with our Giant makne
She’s one of the best female English speakers in the industry. Others born in the us still stutter a lot even like Tiffany or jessica
"it isssss what it isssss" she knows her tiktoks. STAN THIS QUEEN IMMEDIATELY STAN SECRET NUMBER
Definitely became a fan of Secret Number today. "
*beep boop beep boop* whats your secret number"
🤣
*namber 😜
THIS IS SO WHOLESOME????? I was smiling the whole 55 minutes like a fool!! Denise was fangirling so hard and I can feel how nervous she was but she did SO GREAT. I just love how smart and humble she is when she talks and opens up about her struggles as a Korean-American. I really hope Koreans would appreciate DIVE podcasts more for how important it is to have a platform like this where idols can just be themselves and talk about anything and getting more personal, it really opens up new perspectives.
This podcast was soo GOOD! I dont want it to end, its like having a good conversation :)
I hope that someday the Secret Number can become a successful group and can be recognized by the whole world.
Thank you Jinny for bringing Denise to Vine.
denise is probably one of the chillest idol from the 4th generation, like i feel like she would be everyones best friend in school
& Also Every members of Secret Number is Friendly. That's one of reason why i love them so much.
Ok, Eric, it worked. I will now follow Secret Number and Denise will be my bias.
Right? Lol
I've listened to the podcast and here I listened to this fun interview again only to see how Eric expression was when he was told as Asian Mullaney.
From this video, and from the news that Denise not in Secret Number anymore, i can figure out that being a "idol" is not Denise want. Denise want be artist a musician. Just want the best for you, Denise!! Good luck for your dream💖💖
Time to Stan Secret Number
Denise looks so mature and smart here. She shows her other charmings we never see in this segment. She has a wide knowledge and stays humble. She talks a lot maybe she is more comfortable and more confident speaks in English. She has a good chemistry with Eric Nam. Thank you Eric for inviting Denise.
Im from htx and a guy I went to highschool with knew her before debut. She is so cool and cant believe she is accomplishing so much when we’re the same age! Wish her goodluck
That's so cool!!!
Denise needs her own show at DIVE! I'll definitely listen to her!
Before this podcast, I had no idea who she was, but now I’m so in love with her, she’s so humble and smart, i will watch every episode that she’s on!
Alexa, Denise, and Stephanie Poetri should be in the same podcast show and that'll be a long night sisters meeting 😂 they really have the same vibes..
She's so humble 😍
44:47 Where did you heard an idol saying this? Denise is super witty, smart and talented. I hope she have a long succesful career :D
i kinda want her and stephanie poetry in one show or something. the way they talk are so lively which is good for them!
She’s good-looking, intelligent, and articulate. I can't believe she's young
@X Kreamoz haha
Out of the all kpop idols who live outside korea...she's the best speaker. Not to downgrade anyone...but she's so easy to listen to...need to stan her.
I love her personality! She’s so friendly and funny 🥰
When Denise said " Oh My Gosh " that's so cute.
Denise: Future Host/Co-Host?
She's literally the Korean version of me. Same age, same year of birth, watched the same shows as kids, had the same dream because of what she watched, maknae of her family before her younger cousins were born. It's freaky how much like me she is
Denise was successfully doing a podcast for an hour without even sleeping LoL 😂
Glad she enjoyed the podcast just as much as the fans enjoyed her rapping podcast LoL, it's really great to know more about her
Denise fighting! Secret Number fighting!! ❤️
I'm one minute in and I love her, I stan her, she is now my queen omg.
Is she going to have a podcast anytime, Dive?
