The Superman of his world turned villain and went on a rampage with a superpowered army. His Lois was killed during that incident. He tried to stop that Superman but was sent to another Earth.

Made no sense Johnathan not having any powers no way human DNA would override Kryptonian DNA. Something is blocking his abilities, If I'm the son of Superman I would of made him figure it out
Here’s a hint how did Johnathan pick up the hammer that had been charged up with kinetic energy that required a glove to carry and he did it with essentially one arm.. I think he does have powers but he’s more in line with captain America than on the level of Superman or SuperBoy
It's best for Jonathan not to have powers so he can be immune to his dad's weaknesses, which can come in handy.
But Jordan is not immune to his dads weakness because he has his powers
