Actually Paul Stanley and Desmond Child and Vini Poncia wrote this song specifically to show how easy it would be to make a hit disco song. And I LOVE IT ! But THIS ISN'T really indicative of KISS. It's great, but there are so many really rocking KISS songs !
That's what I said, of all of the great songs Kiss have, he jumps right into the disco!! Haha! Oh well, there's plenty of material for him to listen for weeks!
I grew up loving KISS. This was their pop crossover/disco hit and it was very popular. You really need to watch some LIVE performances. They are so well know for how they perform and they changed the game from the 70's - 80's and even today. Everyone who wants to put on an amazing rock show live with fire, and pyrotechnics get it all from KISS!! Please check out Gene Simmons doing God Of Thunder LIVE! You will see a Bass solo, him spitting blood and then being hoisted into the air about 100 feet above the stage while he performs! AMAZING!!
If you are of a certain age, like myself, this is an absolute jam at a party, my friend! It may not be the best example of what KISS' music is about but, as a party tune, it is a must! A song to get everyone's ass shakin' on the dance floor!
Welcome to the newest member of the KISS Army! LOL "You wanted the best and you got it. The hottest Band in the world...KISS!" Listen to anything or all of the 1975 KISS Alive album. Songs like Deuce, Parasite, She, Let Me Go Rock And Roll, Black Diamond, Cold Gin or their radio hit Rock and Roll All Night (And Party Every Day). There is a reason Dimebag Darrell had a tattoo of Ace Frehley (Kiss' Guitarist) on his chest. They have a harder rock sound that kicked ass without the screaming. This song was from their Dynasty album from 1979. It dabbles in the disco genre. Another similiar song from this album you may like is Sure Know Something.
You can kinda say that Kiss brought about Disco's demise, and a good thing too. Dynasty was their last great release, and just couldn't listen to anything they released afterwards. Lot of great songs on that one, but from a hard-core fan, I'd suggest ANYTHING from Destroyer or Love Gun.
Love your reaction mate! Yes this is KISS. It's when KISS went disco and turned into a pop band for a couple of years. They were a hard rock band before this and turned into a hair metal band in the 80's after they took the make-up off.
If it wasn't for KISS I would have never started playing the drums!! Being a drummer I'd highly recommend the song I Love It Loud. That song is AMAZING!!!
KISS IS MY CHILDHOOD....EVERYONE KNOWS KISS.....I LIKE THE EARLY KISS WHEN THEY WERE HUGE.....AND THEY WERE GENE , PAUL, PETER AND ACE !!!!!.....I SUGGEST ''BLACK DIAMOND''......''GOT TO CHOOSE''......''DEUCE''.......''DETROIT ROCK CITY ''.......THE BIGGEST HIT IS ''ROCK AND ROLL ALL NITE''.....TO ME THAT SONG IS WORN OUT !!!!
T I loved them in the early years when the original members were together.Paul Stanley's voice was just so incredible.they helped me thru alot of shit.and yes I was KISS army all the way.thanks for bringing them back
The Dinasty album has a disco vibe. Sure Know Something is my favorite. From 70's:Black Diamond,Deuce,Strutter,Love Gun,Detroit Rock City,Hard Luck Woman,Let Me Go Rock N Roll,Rock And Roll All Night,God Of Thunder. From 80's:Creatures Of The Night,Lick It Up,Heaven's On Fire,War Machine,Crazy Nights,I Love It Loud,Shout It Out Loud,Hide Your Heart,Forever,Let's Put The X In Sex,Rise To It. From 90's:Unholy,Domino,Take It Off,God Gave Rock N Roll To You,I Just Wanna,Psycho Circus.
wow this band saved me from a horrible childhood i just locked myself away with kiss i lived and breathed them and it turned out fine 8 concerts later and my children are fans God bless KISS
No. This is not how they sound all the time. Don't get me wrong. I have been listening ti KISS since my first LP I ever bought. It was Alive II. Sheez. That was 1979. They get a lot harder like God of Thunder and Unholy. There are many great songs. Detroit Rock City Black Diamond Strutter Thrills in the Night Love Gun Baby Driver Beth Hard Luck Woman Shock Me Christine Sixteen Calling Dr Love The list is very long. And these were from the 70s.
Like the band says, "You wanted the best, you got it..." Now T has songs for days! I knew as soon as he said "give me some songs to listen to..." He'd have so many songs listed he'll be smothered! Just because everyone has their own list of favs, & there's sooo many songs!
This song is from the Dynasty album, which was called their “disco phase” album. Many fans turned on them because of this album, but honestly, I pretty much loved everything KISS put out! KISS ARMY!!!
Some Kiss songs i like are God Of Thunder, War Machine, Thou Shall Not, Unholy, Got To Choose, Black Diamond, Calling Dr. Love, Cold Gin, Detroit Rock City, Let's Put The X In Sex, I Love It Loud , Lick It Up , & Tears Are Falling
It wasn't just black kids, I'm white and my mom wouldn't let us listen to Kiss either. She heard the stories about kids trying to copy Gene breathing fire and all that kind of crazy stuff (that probably never actually happened) and she thought we would do the same. So we weren't allowed Kiss. AC/DC was fine though lol. My Dad questioned AC/DC when he heard the song "big balls" and mom said "oh you know the kids don't even listen to the lyrics". lol This is the first Kiss song I heard through kids singing it in the halls at school. A lot of Kiss fans (and Gene Simmons) hate this song though because it is basically a Disco track. Paul Stanley wrote it after hanging out at Studio 54 (famous disco club in NYC). It is a great song though.
Me too. I'm white, raised in Mississippi. They were evil here too. But I later married the man who went to their concerts when he was probably 14. Actually several concerts to see them. I like BAD boys...so now in my Cadillac I crank it up.
Always great to catch your reactions man. Thank you for the insight and reactions you give. Its almost as im getting to experience this with you guys especially when you're doin a 1st time listen. Great job.
Watched KISS in Colorado several years ago and they were going to fine the band thousands of dollars if they played past a certain time. They were rocking it out and Paul Stanley said he would write the city a check and they kept rocking. A member of the Kiss Army ever since.
You should do the KISS journey chronologically. From 1974 to 1977 they released 6 albums and you can hear the progression. This was their classic era: KISS (1974) Hotter than Hell (1974) Dressed to Kill (1975) Destroyer (1976) Rock and Roll Over (1976) Love Gun (1977)
Well MY other favorite KISS songs are "Rock and Roll All Night", "I Love It Loud"," Detroit Rock City", "Lick It Up", Deuce", "Love Gun", "Calling Dr. Love", "Shout It Out Loud", "All Hell's Breaking Loose", "Strutter" and "Heaven's On Fire"
I was born in 1964, so around mid 70's when Kiss was going strong, I was around 10, 11 years old and my older brother had all those rock albums and I knew all of them songs. But I was favoring Disco / Funk music and Country. I wasn't the biggest fan of Kiss then. But, there were a larger following of die hard Kiss fans. As the end of the 70's was coming around, I was leaning to more pop music (anything that hit the top 40 pop charts). In 1979 when "I was made for loving you" hit the charts, it was a big radio hit and I loved it. I was 15 years old. And a new audience had became huge fans of this, but were not big fans of Kiss in the past, like myself. The die hard kiss fans hated this song and said it sounded too much like disco. So, it was a different sound for Kiss. There is another song from this same album that I thing you'll really love. Check out the music video "Sure Know Something".
I can remember seeing Phantom of the Park, something like that, a movie on TV with Kiss. I couldn’t have been older then 8 yrs old. I had nightmares that night. Lol!
This song was played in dance clubs all over the world in the '80s. It is not indicative of the bulk of their work. Back in the day, hardcore Kiss fans despised this song. Another curveball they threw into their repertoire was a song called Beth. The only songs that my wife really likes from Kiss are this track and Beth. My 24 YO son loves Kiss. Actually, he is really into 70's and 80's rock and especially Hair Bands. He says the music of that era is just so much fun to listen to.
So great to see you in your musical journey and being open to listen ...Kiss is one of the greatest!!!!Would love to see you do the song FOREVER by KISS....SURE KNOW SOMETHING
Kiss are regularly underestimated by non-fans... They have contributed a lot to rock music and influenced a lot of rock greats. Not exactly typical of the band, I Was Made For Loving You was written by Paul Stanley in the disco era to prove he was just as capable of writing a hit for the dance floor and just shows how versatile Kiss are. A comparison of this piece with e.g. the album Music From The Elder (a concept album of Kiss from 1981 that shows another, mostly unknown facet of the band) makes it clear what I mean by that. During performances, the band celebrates the glam rock of the seventies with a likeable dose of self-mockery, which is perhaps why it has kept them alive for almost 50 years...
It's always funny to me when someone who has never heard KISS picks this song. A DISCO song! Now, for me, I have always liked it. I even had the 45 record of it with a song called HARD TIMES on the B-side along with my KISS ARMY membership. That being said, I defiantly understand where KISS fans are coming from about this song. I feel your next KISS song should be Detroit Rock City, Black Diamond, Love Gun or even God of Thunder. You will defiantly hear a different heavier more METAL sound than this one. Still good reaction.
I Come From A Similar Background But I Started Getting Into This Stuff As A 9 Year Old & Kiss Is Still One Of My Favorite Acts Of All Time Their Styles Were Versatile & Paul Stanley Is One Of The Signature Voices Of His Genre
To be honest, there is nothing evil whatsoever about the band Kiss, but I can see how people would think this because of Gene Simmons persona. This band really was amazing for it's time. This song is very sensual and when it came out, it made me like the band even more. Kiss is in my opinion one of the great Rock bands of it's time and still to this day. Thanks for reviewing.
From their older albums "Deuce", (sung by Gene Simmons) "Strutter" (sung by Paul Stanley), and "Black Diamond"( sung by Peter Criss) are excellent and harder than I was Made for Loving You.
All of the members of the band wrote songs and took turns being lead singer. Gene and Paul sang lead on most songs, but the most popular song ever was from Peter Criss - "Beth"
KISS started in 1973 and are only just on their farewell tour now, or were. This could be the deepest rabbit hole you could go down. I could recommend about a hundred songs. Wouldn't know where to start really. So maybe a good selection to represent all era's of the band up until 2000.....Ummm.....ok....Parasite, Rock and roll all nite, God of Thunder, Detroit Rock city, Love Gun, Dirty Livin', Talk to me, World without heroes, Creatures of the night, Lick it up, Tears are falling, Crazy crazy nights, Unholy, Within.......just off the top of my head.
When I was young, my neighbor's parents didn't like my brother and I listening to KISS. They said they were Kings in Satans Service, lol. React to "Beth" please.
T, they ain’t called the Hottest band in the world for nothing! But I find it hard to believe you could go your entire life without hearing this song, and, knowing kiss performs it. Unless you recently came out of a coma, where in that case, I suggest you rock out to Overkill-Coma! 😂
Never heard a single song from them. EVER! This will likely be my wife's first time listening to them as well, when she does her reaction. I keep trying to tell you guys, black people do not listen to this kind of music. Thats why there are so many black reactors reacting to rock n roll and metal.
Love Gun I Stole Your Love Strutter Shandi Sure Know Something It's Forever Firehouse Cold Gin And many more. Kiss is as deep a rabbit hole as you're willing to go.
If you want to hear what KISS was to me as a youth and more representative of their reputation, you MUST check out their 1st live album, 'KISS Alive'. It is quite possibly the best of all the live albums there is. Put it on, and let it play. Turn it UP! Sure, some of it was enhanced post production (like anything else), but for the most part, it's all real. The band was on point and the audience was hyped. Keep in mind, that is was 1975 when they made it. Disco KISS, for this one song, was good, but Dynasty also had many other good songs, 'Charisma' being one of them. 'Hard Times' and 'Save your Love' are also excellent rockers. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons wrote simple catchy tunes and Ace Frehley is a guitar wizard. On another note, the whole schtick with their costumes was one the main reasons the establishment of the time made them out to be devil worshippers, because that scared the hell out of everybody. Sure, Alice Cooper (Billion Dollar Babies is AMAZING) had made his mark with his theatrics and the New York Dolls were just men in drag, (lol) but KISS was serious about their faces not being seen, which only added to their mystique and christian disapproval. Plus Gene Simmons would spit fire and drool (fake) blood .... But back to the time when this was released. You could 'feel' the power in the music. I don't know, maybe I'm just waxing nostalgic, but for a 12 year old prairie boy in the 70's, this music kept me going for a lot of years. I really hope you keep discovering all this 'old' music that made so many people happy.
this song is from the "Dynasty" album, which is one of the best, in my opinion. "sure know somethin" - "2000 Man" - etc - Ace Frehley had the best selling of the KISS solo albums.
I have been checking a few of your reaction videos. I have to say that your commentary and immediate understanding of the music you are hearing is one of the most, clear and concise that I have seen for new listeners to Rock & Heavy Metal. KEEP ON LISTENING dude !!!!!!! I grew up in the late 70's & 80's. The music that was created during this period is so outstanding that it is as popular today (if not more) as it was back then. !!! I would suggest that if you want to "Jump In The Deep End" of the rock / metal pool you really should check out DREAM THEATER !!! This is PROG Rock / Metal at its finest. It will take you on a true MUSICIANSHIP journey like never before or again. Start with the ------- "Dance of Eternity" and then step next to "The OVERTURE"...... I assure you that you will not be disappointed but more like : WORE OUT , when the songs end !!!
Not enough people reacting to KISS. Along with Rush and Van Halen, they are my favorite band. Now that you've eased into their world, it's time to check out Rock and Roll All Nite, Detroit Rock City, Shout it Out Loud (Tiger Stadium '96), Tears Are Falling, Unholy, and Black Diamond...Oh, and their biggest single, Beth. More KISS!
A song that got many "Rockers" and "Freaks" and "Heads" into fist fights back in the day! This was smack dab in the middle of the "Disco Sucks" 1979. Me? I loved it as i was a massif closet Bee Gees fan. Didn't share that fact with many. Only song similiar that i can think of: "Christine Sixteen" 1977 ua-cam.com/video/kgNAmFP0g3k/v-deo.html Dig your open mind and reactions, brother. One love.
I jumped right into Kiss' disco era! I would've pointed to a different era to start with. Not to mention this is not even near their best songs. Kiss has soooo many hits, it'll take a while to get a good grasp of their catalog. A couple of my favs are, Love Gun, & God of Thunder, but ask 10 ppl what to listen to, you'll get 8 answers. Just jump in it!😁
T, I think that Kiss stole the Big Boots with the Big Heal from watching Soul Train on TV, The Brothers that were Dancing Back then on the show wore these , Before Kiss Did, can you dig it, rock on, Peace to the world, Cousin Figel
I'll have to look into the comparisons when I go on my soul train journey like Jamel. I just noticed last night how much the smashing pumpkins were influenced by Rush. The comparison was crazy.
Actually a stroke of genius on KISS’s behalf. They intentionally wanted to be the band parents didn’t want their kids listening to. And having been teenagers ourselves we understand all too well what making something taboo does to kids! Lol! Then they “gotta have it”! Brilliant! Lol!
That was from their disco album Dynasty. Which is great in my opinion. Check out Mainline, and Goin Blind off of Hotter Than Hell. Also I saw the for the first time last September. Shame that it was also my last. ✌🏻
KISS were a very popular band, and we're HATED by parents for the reasons you mention. Their costumes were absolutely unique, and gained them attention as much (or more) than their music
There is NO ONE that puts on a concert quite like KISS!😁😎❤
Mary Bradley , hmm, I don’t know, they set the standard initially, but look at iron maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, they all set the bar pretty high.
Queen yes
@@thewild_beast45tv18 Queen is dead, lol
Yes !! Kiss Opened The Door For EVERYONE !! They Everyone Saw How It's Done.
Early Kiss. Dressed to kill album, Kiss, Hotter than Hell, Destroyer, Love Gun, Alive, Alive II. Tons of great early songs! 🤘
Detroit Rock City
Kiss really took off when their Destroyer LP came out.
Actually Paul Stanley and Desmond Child and Vini Poncia wrote this song specifically to show how easy it would be to make a hit disco song. And I LOVE IT !

Paul wrote this song to prove that it would be easy to write a disco hit. This is NOT What KISS is known for.
This song almost ended Kiss because the fans didn't like the disco sound. Even Gene Simmons said one time that he didn't like it.
@@ronaldnelson6692 i think this is the only kiss song i genuinely like lol

"Beth" by Kiss was a slow song staple at Jr. High School dances when I was there '77-'79!..😃
Became a huge hit for a B side.

I'm down for the ride.
This song is from the Dynasty album. Another great track on there is the cover of the Rolling Stones, "2000 Man" sung by Ace. Love ace's voice.
I Come From A Similar Background But I Started Getting Into This Stuff As A 9 Year Old & Kiss Is Still One Of My Favorite Acts Of All Time Their Styles Were Versatile & Paul Stanley Is One Of The Signature Voices Of His Genre
Love this song!!
Hey guys try this official video. Kiss - I Love It Loud (Official Music Video) you are my favorite reaction couple.
You and the little lady are both absolute gold my brother! React and I shall follow!
Detroit Rock City
The Adventures of TNT man, you guys have been missing out! 🤪
Black diamond....love Gun....rock and roll all night and party every day
Love Gun
I Stole Your Love
Strutter
Shandi
Sure Know Something
It's Forever
Firehouse
Cold Gin
And many more. Kiss is as deep a rabbit hole as you're willing to go.
Esta canción es maravillosa una de las más populares y clásicas de la mítica kiss.
Black Diamond from Alive! Album
Strutter, Nothin’ To Lose, Rock and Roll All Nite, Detroit Rock City, Love Gun, Shout it Out Loud, Calling Dr. Love.
Listen to more KISS!!! Plenty to choose from!
Start with the -------
"Dance of Eternity" and then step next to "The OVERTURE"...... I assure you that you will not be disappointed but more like : WORE OUT , when the songs end !!!
This is one there Disco Metal it's 🔥
Looks like you had so much fun with this video.. great song
Hey two great new bands for you: Kiss and Thin Lizzy. I almost envy you finding them for the first time. So much to discover!
More KISS!
Dude, you just scratching the surface! Destroyer Album, Alive, Alive III, Creatures and Revenge!!
like seeing alot of spunk and having good 'ole fashioned fun in your reactions, much needed these days, thank you
A song that got many "Rockers" and "Freaks" and "Heads" into fist fights back in the day! This was smack dab in the middle of the "Disco Sucks" 1979. Me? I loved it as i was a massif closet Bee Gees fan. Didn't share that fact with many. Only song similiar that i can think of:
"Christine Sixteen" 1977

Dig your open mind and reactions, brother. One love.
You definitely need to listen to more KISS bro. You won't be disappointed especially the early kiss songs.
yeah! I"d like to see you ride the KISS train!
Just jump in it!😁
YOU PICKED KISS'S DISCO SONG....BAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA.....LOVE IT !!!!
Really like your new set up!!....👌👍💥🙂
Thanks 👍
Ah all the kiss show bags from the Bairnsdale and Nowra shows
This is definitely not a typical KISS tune, give some others a listen. Love Gun is my favorite.
Brilliant! Lol!
1974-1978 is the BEST. Dude. .Deuce from ALIVE! is a good start!
Their costumes were absolutely unique,
and gained them attention as much
(or more) than their music
Paul Stanley wrote this in 3 minutes just to prove he could write a disco song. Awesome reaction brother.
