To this day these lyrics get to me like no others have.. "even in the darkness, I'll be ok." Its a combo of the gorgeous vocals and the meaning of the words that makes me tear up. Amazing work ♡
I feel like this song was written for me about my life.
I've lived where I am 3 times now, and twice before, huge failures of my life goals sent me packing. I got diagnosed terminal, delved into alcoholism and flunked out of college, and then 2 years later, I miscarried and my husband turned murderously abusive, and I had to live out of my car both times, running on fumes back to my parents when my life hit rock bottom.
This time is take 3 for my having a successful life where I want to. I'm 22, and the only thing I've learned is that nothing is permanent, so take the happy you can find and run with it. Worst that can happen will happen anyways, and the world keeps turning, with or without you. The only thing left is the decision of whether or not you'll change, too.

There's something really profound and strange about listening to her new music after being a fan for many years, hearing lyrics she sings now and remembering the times when those things happened. Her own growth as an artist has been so wrapped up in my own growing up that these songs just feel incredibly personal and tangible in a way that not a lot of music does for me, even if my own taste has mostly grown away from this style. She really was the defining artist of my teenage years.
Beautiful song "...and some that didn't make it here" When heard this song my cat had just died and I was in a very bad place but it reminded me "the sun will come out, the seasons will change"

I found out about Nina recently on a Spotify radio station. The first song i heard was The Best You Ever Had thinking it was a single, then i listened to this album and loved a good chunk of it. I also fell in love with Miss You 2. Despite living through nothing described in the album, it still resonates with me and has a deep emotional power in me. I cant wait for Nina's next release.
