What a great list. Really appreciate your tight pacing and format and well distilled insights. I'm also curious to hear if there was anything interesting changing year over year. I know you have rank deltas displayed for the ones that made this list, but Im curious also what's fallen off the list completely and why (what makes for the opposite of a forever game. It was great for a time but lost its appeal).
@3MBG oh, then the contrast would be interesting! What are a couple games that have been on your list the longest and a couple that were top for the shortest? For the shortest, I think recent years are more interesting.
There's probably enough here for a whole video, and i should do that at some point. Some that just slowly slid of include Caverna, i like the game, i just havent played it in 5 years or more now. Scythe, Imperial ASsault, X-wing, all games that just sit there really and therefore keep sliding out of mind. Some of the hardest falls were Cthulhu Wars, which i love, but its just an impossible nightmare to get and store. And the fun of the game is outweighed by its sheer impracticality. I think recently, 4x games in general have taken a hit. I played one too many very long Twilight Imperium game that dragged on well past its best, and it just killed my desire to play that sort of game. So Eclipse has come and gone very quickly on the top 100
Really love watching your Top 100 videos :) Thanks to you I bought Spirit Island a few years ago and... it didn't click with me. Added Branch & Claw but still no hit but in April 2023 a friend of mine took me by the hand and showed me how to beat the damn invaders. Since then it's my favourite and most played game by a mile with over 200 plays in person and over 100h on Steam :D I'm so excited for the german release of Nature Incarnate :) So thank you again and my friend to show me this amazing game I can't get enough of :)
I love getting a new perspective. While I'm always cheering for my top 3 games (Root, Chaos in the Old World, and Forbidden Stars) it's much more practically useful to get some new ideas. Inspired me to get Arcs for Christmas this year :)
Bought the 5 starter packs for Arkham Horror LCG recently, they really have personalities and worth the value. I see why it receives continuous praises from you as the best. Thank you for the list!
Always a great experience seeing your top 100. Plus it's nice to see a list refined over decades of play as opposed to 'stuffed to the brim' KS bloat. The collection my wife and I have has only just hit 45 games and already I feel like we have loads!! Ha. Love your channel!
@@3MBG Absolutely agree. There's still a couple sitting in shrink wrap still. I thought I'd be a big box/campaign gamer, and there's a couple I own that I love, but increasingly they get pushed to the side for fast setup and play time with my wife; Cascadia, Harmonies, Calico, Dominion, etc.
You continue to be one of my favorite reviewers and I'm continually impressed with your content, even with bad mics. Curious if you have played and have opinions on some of my favs, but reasonably unknown games: Citrus, Marracash (Dorra), Portobello Market, Medina (anither Dorra), and Pixie Queen. All have a huge amount of direct player interaction.
@@3MBG for 4 players, my own would be MarraCash -- I love the auctions in it, but there's also a constant diplomacy-like renegotiation of partnerships that happens. For most that I game with, it would probably be Medina at that player count -- no auctions here, but again there's a lot of "working together on one turn, then against each other on the next" happening. Citrus for the 2p/3p win though I think. Portobello Market has the advantage of playing in under 45min (our last was under 30) even at 4p. These are all shared board, shared incentives games, except for pixie queen. That one is just a brutal worker placement game where the game is as much against you as anything and the only way to win is to aggressively work against others.
Given how much you enjoy Spartacus you should try For Glory, a top 10 for me I just love the application of deck building, the planning required to run a Gladiator School, then the battles of your school against your opponent in the arena.
Great list and utterly watchable - I would recommend Frostpunk, it’s a challenging puzzle of a game with amazing world building and a very strong art concept
Very nice! Surprised by how many we overlap! A&B, Robinson Crusoe, Brass, CoB, Obsession, Heat, and my personal favourite Unsettled. So nice to see it on your list!
Do I care what Jay likes? Not really. However this format is a super way for someone to get a lot of quick precis' of 100 games, and may persuade them to explore a few of them. Useful.
I'm always happy to see a Top 100 list that still has Sentinels of the Multiverse on it. I sometimes hear reviewers say that SotM has been replaced by other fancier superhero deckbuilding games, and I'm always like, SotM is the only one that ISN'T a deckbuilding game! I'm surprised that there are still so few preconstructed-deck games out there.
Always enjoy your content! Top 10 games “according to me” are: 10 Architects of the West Kingdom 9 Brass Birmingham 8 Puerto Rico 7 Teotihuican 6 Hadara 5 Raiders of the North Sea 4 Terraforming Mars 3 TTR: Legends of the West 2 Champions of Midgard 1 Everdell
So much fun to watch. Man, ever since I saw you first mention healthy heart hospital so long ago, I’ve been looking for a complete copy, but it has to be that version! It’s so beautiful. So So much better looking than the new one! No contest.
@@3MBGagreed. Such a shame. The older version of healthy heart has so much charm, almost like the retro art style used in the rear window game. Kind of love it. Hope I can find one. P.S.-I’m also very glad I have Circadians First Light with it‘s original cover, which I absolutely love and originally bought when it came out based solely on the cover‘s art work. It was such a standout. I can‘t believe that breakthrough dynamic diverse-rich refreshingly unique cover was changed to one with just another ‚blond viking‘ bro in the foreground! Felt like bowing to gatekeeper pressure to change that cover like that. It‘s a shame, his work is so fun and too one of a kind to be influenced from…. (Ok will stop ranting now!… whoopsie!)
1. Love the bookshelf shot, because I saw an art book I didn’t even know existed! Ordered! Btw, I found both Chaosium’s Arkham sourcebook and the Welcome to Arkham book to be excellent. 2. I’ve got a weekly game as well. Love it so much. Doing Plague as I write this, so laughed at the shoutout. Thank you so much for the menu of games to try.
Try to find them on tabletop sim or elsewhere first. Some of the ones on my list are somewhat pricey being OOP and id hate you to sink a ton of cash on a game you end up not liking.
Clank! in space video will be coming out in a few weeks and yes, an instant hit for me and my friends. I picked the sci-fi one because i like the theme more.
I was quickly skimming through the video first and did I see correctly no Ark Nova in the list? I thought I saw it in your top 100s in previous year. Did it drop down or is my memory (or eyes) tricking me? Solid list, will get to the video more in-depth asap!
I just started the video so I don't know if it's on the list, but I wanted to say that I got Leaving Earth and its expansions on your recommendation alone a number of years ago. Just wanted to say thanks for what you do.
Ankh, i've not played. I tend not to see a lot of big CMON titles as they don't really use reviewers who look at games after release, relying instead on paid content people who just tell folks how awesome their next purchase will be. Eclipse was on the list last year, it dropped out due to what I say in the Arcs entry. Same for Twilight Imperium.
@@3MBG It is often easy to read between the lines on those paid reviews. One of the many reasons why we all like your channel for giving the straight and honest opinions here. I'll be curious on the staying power of Arcs over the next 1-2 years. Thanks again for your insight!
I'm surprised thay ruins of arnak didn't make the list. Good combination of a deck builder and a worker placement game. Suggestion to check it out with the leaders expansion. It definitely helps with the repeatability I feel. :)
I feel Dune Imperium does a lot of what Arnak does but better. I know many folks disagree there, but they have a similar space for me, of being deck building worker placement games.
Hi Mate, always looking forward to your next top 100 list. I've got a Q about Star Wars rebellion. While I liked (not loved) the Star Wars movies, I'm not a fan as in I don't possess anything SW-related (no lego sets, no nothing). Having said that, I hear the game popping up on almost everyone's list so I'm wondering: Is the game still great when the theme is excluded. I heard SW rebellion is similiar to (but better than) 1775 rebellion, but while I love history, I'm not a fan of (space) fiction. Would SW Rebellion be a good game for someone not really interested in SW theme?
I think it would lose a little, but i think its pretty hard to not know who Darth Vader is for example, so most of the theme would still work in the sense of the game making rational sense as to why it does things the way it does. I.e, why are all actions led by a hero, why does the Empire have way more stuff, wtf is a Hutt? That sorta thing
Glad to see Legendary Encounters: Alien still kicking around in this list - it's a great game, and a great implementation of the Alien world in a board game.
Anachrony, Brass, and Spirit Island are where we cross over. Dwellings of Eldervale, Earth, My City, Foundations of Rome, Blood Rage/Ankh all round out my top 10, but didn’t make your list at all!
Dwellings of Eldervale, My City & Foundations of Rome i have not played. I own the first of those. Earth is ok, its going in my book on great looking modern board games, but is outside my top 100. I do still own a copy and like it. Blood Rage and Ankh I've never played, I don't tend to get much CMON kickstarter stuff. I do like Chaos in the Old World though, which apparently inspires all the subsequent games like that
We do enjoy Kemet, picked up a Seth recently. Wonderlands War, we need to play more! Tough to table, but a pleasure to buy. Completed our collection of Alien the deck building game with the last expansion, son loves to play the Queen! just picked up a used copy of Circadians First Light, looking forward to play it. Azul chocolatier is a family favourite. Have been playing Yokohama on BGA, interesting game, exploring it now. Have yet to play any of the Nemesis series, very interested to play it. One day. Wow, Pedal to the Metal made a big impression! Thunderbirds is AMAZING! I may have to sell my copy of Pandemic Iberia. Love the mechanics of Brass Birmingham, even lived there for a year, just could handle the poor contrast of the board game. Hopefully, they new theme one day. CoB is a treat. Do enjoy your annual lists, its speed and your comments and opinions. Don't always agree with them, allow me to view from a new perspective.
@@3MBGawesome. Still haven’t tried the expansion. Have it though. Just love the drafting and the cool tied in theme and wacky show, actor and ads names 😂😂
A Feast for Odin The Great Zimbabwe Battle Line Inis Istanbul Cascadia Too Many Bones All missing from your list :P Love to see Tyrants of the Underdark get some attention . That game is not talked about enough.
Inis is on my shelf to play, and I have a review of Istanbul: the dice game ready to release (even though i know that's a different game). I like cascadia, it was just out of the top 100 (i prefer harmonies which is quite similar). Didn't care for TMB but have be'en meaning to try A Feast for Odin for ages, its just such a big bear of a game something else always gets picked ahead of it.
@@3MBG Thanks for the reply! AFFO is not nearly as intimidating as many make it seem. They complain about there being too many actions when really there's only 10 and the rest are just more powerful actions of the same type. I would really recommend just not learning about islands at all for first game and just play a few rounds. Becomes simple really quick. I can see how TMB isn't everyone's cup of tea. I need to look into Harmonies. It's getting a lot of love but I tend to avoid newer games. Excited for you to try Inis. It's by far my favorite area control game.
SPLENDOR - If you like Century Golem, then Splendor is even better with far more opportunity for discounted purchases with a very clever engine building mechanism.
I like Century and Splendor equally, HOWEVER, when my friends come to visit, they prefer to play Splendor, and their justification is that if they have the right gem cards, they can buy more gem cards at a discount (sometimes even Free), as opposed to Century, where 2 reds become 1 blue, 2 blues becomes 1 green, etc. no discounts and no freebies. Thoughts ?
I won’t buy certain games because it relies too much on dice rolls such as Robinson Crusoe, Final Girl, Nemesis etc. But there are some I’ve enjoyed so idk what to do lol Altogether I’d rather know what will happen as a result of my actions. But yes I understand there’s a thematic tension to the unknown.
Dead of Winter is the only zombie game I'll play, but I think I'll check out Dawn of the Zeds. The game store I hang out at has a huge library of games you can pull off the shelf and play (he even allows trusted regulars to borrow for a few days). I know he has Dawn. I'll borrow it before I plunk down $100.
@@3MBG Called the owner. He's going to pull it for me and I'm going to pick it up tonight. He told me that he doesn't think anyone has ever played that copy and he might be willing to sell it to me cheap. Might have a new game for Halloween.
Also, Bruce Lee in the bottom left corner. I think everyone in the game is someone from movie or tv but i can't place all of them. Dr strangelove from the movie of the same name is also in the game
Surprised Spheres of Influence wasn’t on your list this year considering how high it’s been before. Unless I blinked when you listed it in the first half.
I've never owned a copy, and haven't played it in 5 years or more now. Out of sight, out of mind. It's still a very good game, but if i simply don't play a game, i don't really think about it when rating them.
No, and i've just looked it up. It looks really quite different and i'm intrigued how its more about race management than driving like most other f1 games.
@@3MBG Easily the best racing game in board gaming (though terrible rulebooks). And I say that as someone who doesn't watch racing. It's just a fantastic game. If you decide to hunt it down, make sure to get 2nd edition.
War of the Ring and Star Wars Rebellion is on this list, so I'm curious to know what you would think of Dune: War for Arrakis. I'm guessing you haven't tried it yet :)
No, not yet. As i don't do paid content i tend to get passed over for copies of expensive kickstarter titles most of the time. The publishers don't really want "reviews" as such, they really just want ads. And i rarely back anything myself because im working through review copies for other games. I do want to give it a try, but it will likely be a while away
@3MBG Thanks and that's totally understandable. I forgot to mention, perhaps also try Ankh: Gods of Egypt seeing as you had Kemet: Blood and Sand. Different games offcourse but they share the Egyptian theme as well as being area control oriented. Thanks for this awesome top 100. Great job. RIP 🎤 🎙
Did Terraforming Mars and This War of Mine tie? Also, interesting that the two AHLCG campaigns themed around expeditions are the last two official campaigns left for you to play.
Absolutely. The first play through a campaign is always a different experience to later ones, but they are certainly replayable. The channel "playing board games" have been through most of the campaigns a half dozen times or more.
Interesting list! Not the average top 50/100 list on youtube for sure. I noticed you havent had any uwe games on them , or did i miss something. Not a fan of uwe? Agricola, feast for odin, etc. Top games of mine i didn't see on the list: ark nova, concordia, pirates of maracaibo.
Le Havre is on there at 49th. Caverna just fell off last year as i havent played it in ages. Ark nova is in my 101-200 bracket, its fine but its also copies a little too much from civilization a new dawn and terraforming mars for me. Pirates of Maracaibo id never heard of!
@@3MBG aah yes , le Havre sorry missed that one. TM or AN quite similiar indeed ,I guess its whichever theme someone likes more space or animals/zoo. Pirates of maracaibo is a lighter and much quicker version of maracaibo. Really fun game with lots of replayability.
Re: dune imperium, have you tried the team game yet? For me, much more engaging than the standard game, and with more tension. For asymmetric player powers 'on the edge of broken', give age of atlantis a go if you see it. It's part worker placement, part tower defence, part tech tree, and perhaps its highlight is the worker morale system, where you can push them hard, but that makes them unhappy (with consequences). A shame the fulfilment was such a sh!tshow, with a lucky dip as to whether backers got their game, and that's harmed its profile. As such, that would be my 'under the radar' suggestion. This war of mine very much my favourite, but I fully agree with caveating / cautioning people of what they should expect. Very much an experience. Good to see Thunderbirds so high. For me very much the most engaging Pandemic game, and one of the most thinky, despite having dice rolls for success. Also one where if played well, requires players to talk to each other about what they want to do.
I've not heard of Age of Atlantis before, the board looks fascinating and that's a good start. As for uprising team game, not yet, we normally dont have that many folks over for a session often
@@3MBGmakes total sense. I’ve only played a couple of games. But damn it’s fun and so extremely balanced. The action selection mechanic is, chef’s kiss. 😊
No games from Chip Theory? Blasphemy! 🤣 If you're looking for some of the new hotness to play, I think Andromeda's Edge is maybe my favorite worker placement game, beating out Dune Imperium Uprising. Shot up my list of favorite games and is gonna end up at worst my second favorite game of the year (I'm anticipating Elder Scrolls: BOTSE to usurp it since I love the IP and am a Chip Theory fanboy lol).
I've played two Chip Theory games. The tower defence MOBA one who's name escapes me was just a gameplay looop and game style i didn't care for. And too many bones, i thought was very shallow. Overall, i find their games to be better as products than as actual games. As a result, they did not send me a free sword, lol.
@@3MBG the tower defense one you're thinking of is Cloudspire, which I actually just got in a trade, so I'll find out how I feel about that soon. Interesting thought on Too Many Bones though! I personally think it can be a pretty deep game, but if you're trying to play "optimally", it definitely can be a bit on the shallow side when you just crank up your base stats and ignore your skills. To each their own though! I really enjoyed your list and I'll always understand that we all have our own tastes :)
@@3MBG Apparently a small indie outfit that is currently on its last leg. COVID really crushed them. Gugong was their biggest game. One of those that I'll always play if someone asks me.
I respect Cosmic encounter, it was the first game on my list "top 10 games that changed how i think about board games", i think its in the 101-200 bracket of my ranking, because its a rock solid game and a super important one. Just not necessarily one of my personal favs Never say no to a game of it though
Well, i think of it this way. I've been in the hobby of over 35 years, so 100 games is only 1 every 4 months at that rate. Which isn't too silly at all.
No, the end game in root always kills it for me. I wish it wasn't a rush to 25 points and instead had COIN style scoring. Way too many games seem to end where everyone was just about to have a big scoring round, but one player gets it first.
That was an odd introduction. Do people really take it personally if their favorite games don't coincide with yours? How bizzare! You'd think in a hobby with literally thousands of titles, it would be self evident that people might have different tastes.
But normally, its giant essays about how not having a Lacerda or something else on my list proves i'm intellectually inferior to the poster. Some people put weird amounts of their own self worth and self identity into the things they like, especially if said things allow them to feel superior to someone else. Thankfully, its only about 1 in a 100 posters.
@@3MBG Well now I feel inferior myself. I hate Lacerda games. They're too clunky and inelegant. Jokes aside, that is the saddest thing I've ever heard. Games are supposed to bring you joy, not affirm your self worth. I can't imagine the misery.
Me either. I mean, i like playing games well, i feel better when i feel a game coming together and you can see how it all clicks, thats fun. But i can't imagine leering over people playing monopoly at a board game cafe and calling them ignorant savages, lol.
@@3MBGhuh, how does that work? I got a notification in the UA-cam app and see the video just like your normal videos. I don't think UA-cam knows wether or not I am a patron??

Really love watching your Top 100 videos :) Thanks to you I bought Spirit Island a few years ago and... it didn't click with me. Added Branch & Claw but still no hit but in April 2023 a friend of mine took me by the hand and showed me how to beat the damn invaders. Since then it's my favourite and most played game by a mile with over 200 plays in person and over 100h on Steam :D I'm so excited for the german release of Nature Incarnate :)
So thank you again and my friend to show me this amazing game I can't get enough of :)
45 is loads though, it really is. It's basically a new game to play every week of the year
@@3MBG Absolutely agree. There's still a couple sitting in shrink wrap still. I thought I'd be a big box/campaign gamer, and there's a couple I own that I love, but increasingly they get pushed to the side for fast setup and play time with my wife; Cascadia, Harmonies, Calico, Dominion, etc.
I absolutely love Roll Camera and I think it's an underrated masterpiece.
I know none of those games! Which would be your top pick of them?
We really did not enjoy for glory. Gave it a shot a while back, just wasn't a good fit at all.
Really interesting list and nicely put together. Love your work.
Millennium Blades is my favorite game of all time!!! Love when people shout it out! It's so good everyone should try it :D
Unsettled makes me laugh, while also being a tight puzzle game. It really is quite special
Do I care what Jay likes? Not really.
However this format is a super way for someone to get a lot of quick precis' of 100 games, and may persuade them to explore a few of them. Useful.
Thank you for such an elegant Top 100 :)
YES. The Arkham Horror LCG is so good. My favorite game of all time besides Netrunner
Its bonus awesome for not being Marvel or DC
Always enjoy your content! Top 10 games “according to me” are:
10 Architects of the West Kingdom
9 Brass Birmingham
8 Puerto Rico
7 Teotihuican
6 Hadara
5 Raiders of the North Sea
4 Terraforming Mars
3 TTR: Legends of the West
2 Champions of Midgard
1 Everdell
Single best boardgaming channel on the platform. Simply the best!
Thank you very much!
I'm glad to see someone else likes Museum as much as I do.
So much fun to watch. Man, ever since I saw you first mention healthy heart hospital so long ago, I’ve been looking for a complete copy, but it has to be that version! It’s so beautiful. So So much better looking than the new one! No contest.
The new version is, frankly, dire. Really low effort from the publisher too
@@3MBGagreed.
Rant away ;)
I think the art book is quite old, im surprised its still in print.
@@3MBG gamezenter… maybe it’s in print. Maybe it’s a dusty copy from the back shelf. Either way, it’s on the way. :)
I love this list. Its going to cost me a small fortune to buy the ones that sound appealing to me, but still happy to have watched this!
Try to find them on tabletop sim or elsewhere first. Some of the ones on my list are somewhat pricey being OOP and id hate you to sink a ton of cash on a game you end up not liking.
CLANK! - This game is so suspenseful and a mixture of deck building and dungeon crawling.
Clank! in space video will be coming out in a few weeks and yes, an instant hit for me and my friends. I picked the sci-fi one because i like the theme more.
@@3MBG, I agree, the space version is better.
Great list. I recently started playing Arkham Horror the card game because of your reviews.
I hope you are having a good time with it
It is amazing, I love the character progression through a campaign. I like it more than the Mansions of Madness.
I was quickly skimming through the video first and did I see correctly no Ark Nova in the list? I thought I saw it in your top 100s in previous year. Did it drop down or is my memory (or eyes) tricking me?
Solid list, will get to the video more in-depth asap!
Just checked and its literally 105th, i didnt play it last year so it dropped out of mind i guess. I just picked up the ocean expansion though
you and me have very similar tastes. My number one game is arkham horror lcg. My number two is spirit island.
I just started the video so I don't know if it's on the list, but I wanted to say that I got Leaving Earth and its expansions on your recommendation alone a number of years ago. Just wanted to say thanks for what you do.
Its still on the list, its such a good game and such a me game too. Glad you love it
And Black Orchestra. There's a solid chance I keep adding to this list as the video goes on.
Really glad to see TWoM on someones list so high up. Personally, it's my number 1.
In terms of games as works of art, its my number 1 too.
Woop! Great list with games I haven’t played and many I have. The only thing missing? Eclipse!
Eclipse dropped off this year, mostly due to what i say in the entry for Arcs
Hello !Awesome channel, great list !!Keep it up!
its a wonderful world or its a wonderful kingdom???
Greetings from Karpathos/Greece !
World, not played kingdom, never seen it in store here for some reason
Phew, what a list. That was a great listen. Do you have thoughts on Ankh Gods of Egypt or Eclipse: 2nd dawn??
Arcs is either going to shoot up, or drop away entirely. Its a game i dont think anyone can feel mid about.
@@3MBG THank you so much :)
I respect a list with Castles of Burgundy on it. Cheers!
Glad to see Legendary Encounters: Alien still kicking around in this list - it's a great game, and a great implementation of the Alien world in a board game.
I picked up the Covenant stuff for it recently too. Was quite surprised there was another expansion
I've been looking for the Covenant expansion - it's so hard to find!
Good luck!
I do like Chaos in the Old World though, which apparently inspires all the subsequent games like that
ive been meaning to get blood rage for a while, such a cool looking game
Glad you had a good time Paul, see you next year i guess ;)
I'm really excited for Shadows, as a fan of deck builders, it seems like it's gonna be right for me
It's not quite a deck builder, but those skills will help
Fantastic video!! Gave me a couple of ideas for my next purchase👍🏼 surprised no Ark Nova…. You not a fan of that game??
I prefer Terraforming Mars, but Ark Nova has grown on me. I think it was something like 115th when i did the rankings.
Always nice to see the yearly list. Out of curiosity, how do you sort games in these list, specifically for different types? 100 is a lot for sure.
Pubmeeple. Its a website
Roll camera is good.
But you really should try The Networks.
It’s so much more fun and interactive. I know it’s competitive.
But so much fun. ☺️🥳
The networks was on my list up until a year or two ago. I got the executives expansion for it too, good fun game. still in my collection
@@3MBGawesome. Still haven’t tried the expansion. Have it though.
Just love the drafting and the cool tied in theme and wacky show, actor and ads names 😂😂
The Networks is great ye
Glad to see you still enjoy Sidereal Confluence. Have you enjoyed the expansion?
I have not gotten to it yet, im not sure it's even reached our shores down here yet
Just when i thought i was out, they pull me back in!
Let's hear it for Dawn of the Zeds!
Wow i really thought i would own more of the 100, only 6 of mine made it in!
Love the list, i think mage knight should definitely be in there though
I respect Mage Knight, and i'm quite good at it, but i just don't love it. It was the 2nd game i reviewed on the channel back at the very beginning.
thats some cool channel lore!
A Feast for Odin
The Great Zimbabwe
Battle Line
Inis
Istanbul
Cascadia
Too Many Bones
All missing from your list :P
Love to see Tyrants of the Underdark get some attention .
See, here i have to disagree, I found it the other way around. Splendor is a fine game and I still own it, but Century is my fav in that niche.
Thoughts ?
I can see that, I guess the power up in century of improving your cards is a lot more subtle, but it is there
Great list, as always!
I won’t buy certain games because it relies too much on dice rolls such as Robinson Crusoe, Final Girl, Nemesis etc.
But there are some I’ve enjoyed so idk what to do lol
Altogether I’d rather know what will happen as a result of my actions.
But yes I understand there’s a thematic tension to the unknown.
Great list
Well, I just added another 9 games added to my wishlist...
Great list again, it may not be easy to get now but if you get the chance think you would enjoy lord of the rings LCG
Good call, because it is a beast in terms of complexity. But once you get past the rules and learn them, its very fun
@@3MBG Called the owner. He's going to pull it for me and I'm going to pick it up tonight. He told me that he doesn't think anyone has ever played that copy and he might be willing to sell it to me cheap. Might have a new game for Halloween.
My top 2 games have never changed since ive played them years ago and its spirit island and arkham horror lcg
Can't argue with that, lol
4:55 is that Chandra Suresh from Heroes in the right bottom corner?
Also, Bruce Lee in the bottom left corner. I think everyone in the game is someone from movie or tv but i can't place all of them. Dr strangelove from the movie of the same name is also in the game
Always enjoy these lists. I really should try some more co-ops.....
Co-ops live and die on the group. So if you have a great group, they can be great times.
Thank you
Can someone explain the numbers on the bottom right corner?
Comparison to last years list. Up and down
Surprised Spheres of Influence wasn’t on your list this year considering how high it’s been before. Unless I blinked when you listed it in the first half.
Maybe he dropped it since it's impossible to find at a reasonable price?
@@RichardArpin I don’t think that’s the case as he listed several other OOP unreasonably priced games. However, tbf it is the most expensive.
I've never owned a copy, and haven't played it in 5 years or more now. Out of sight, out of mind. It's still a very good game, but if i simply don't play a game, i don't really think about it when rating them.
I think you had two # 11’s mate. Great video. Added a few to my want list. Thanks for your efforts. Cheers.
I did. When you look at a list like this for over a week, you miss a few details
Have you played the new “definitive” edition of Sentinels? If so, what do you think of it?
Not yet, but one of my Patreon regulars is a huge fan of i and keeps telling me about how much improved it is.
Have you played Race! Formula 90?
No, and i've just looked it up. It looks really quite different and i'm intrigued how its more about race management than driving like most other f1 games.
@@3MBG Easily the best racing game in board gaming (though terrible rulebooks). And I say that as someone who doesn't watch racing. It's just a fantastic game.
If you decide to hunt it down, make sure to get 2nd edition.
thanks so much 😊
You should have said the title and number for each game as you go so I could just have the audio playing and still follow.
Fair enough.
Great job. RIP 🎤 🎙
Same deal with Ankh, same publisher i think ;)
@@3MBG Haha fair enough. And it is the same publisher; CMON man.
On the market… nice. :)
Did Terraforming Mars and This War of Mine tie?
Also, interesting that the two AHLCG campaigns themed around expeditions are the last two official campaigns left for you to play.
no, but its possible i put the wrong number up for one of them
Yeah, Terraforming Mars is 12. Sorry. You look at videos like this for days while editing them and you get a bit word blind
No problem, great video!
Sad to see Steampunk Rally leaving your top 100 games list. Still in my list tho.... :)
It's not far off and its still a very good game.
Can you play arkham horror the card game multiple times?
Concordia is pretty good too, there's actually a video on the meeple university channel of me crushing Stella from Meeple univesity at a game of it ;)
@@3MBG aah yes , le Havre sorry missed that one.
Awesome list.
Still I may have missed Circadians: chaos order. Which I bought by your recommendation. And haven’t looked back. It’s soooo good. 😊
I really like Chaos order, but i just havent played it enough for it to get the reps to break the top 100, if that makes sense
Really no sky team? Ite so good
No. I did not like Sky Team at all. It felt like playing tic-tac-toe to a draw in silence
Get a hold of Gugong!
Didnt the company that makes that go under? I remember seeing a copy and thinking it looked very well made
@@3MBG Apparently a small indie outfit that is currently on its last leg. COVID really crushed them. Gugong was their biggest game. One of those that I'll always play if someone asks me.
What's your take on cosmic encounter?
I respect Cosmic encounter, it was the first game on my list "top 10 games that changed how i think about board games", i think its in the 101-200 bracket of my ranking, because its a rock solid game and a super important one. Just not necessarily one of my personal favs
Never say no to a game of it though
I dont know if I've even played 100 different board games 😅
Well, i think of it this way. I've been in the hobby of over 35 years, so 100 games is only 1 every 4 months at that rate. Which isn't too silly at all.
@@3MBGyes but this is just your top 100.... out of a thousand, probably :)
Over a thousand, but i trim it down to about 600 before ranking.
root didnt make it ? :O
Death threats my friend, literal death threats because i dissed someones fav game.
Lisboa is many things but inelegant it’s really not.
For some reason this video isn't showing on your channel for me. I got here via a link someone else posted
Yeah, because its posted for patrons only on my patreon. Well, it's supposed to be patrons only.
@@3MBG ah, I see.
@@3MBGhuh, how does that work? I got a notification in the UA-cam app and see the video just like your normal videos. I don't think UA-cam knows wether or not I am a patron??
