@Milner62, only down side is the oil might mess up the fuel injection ambient air temp sensor that has to be installed in the bottom of the air cleaner base. That is part of the ProFlo2 EFI kit I am looking at. Given it probably wont do that since many people use K&N and never reported that issue in big numbers but still I dont know if I want to take the risk. Its not for having a life time filter but having a filter lid which no one else makes.
@Milner62, the problem with paper filters is that they hamper airflow. Air doesnt flow as easily through paper filters unlike the oil bath and the cotton gauze filters. Thats why companies like K&N do such great business with their cotton gauze and thats why at any race track around here you will see the cotton gauze filters being used in performance applications. Plus you never buy another filter unlike paper, ocne its dirty it goes in the trash the other two you clean and reuse.
@Milner62 Yes but the model T engine was vastly simpler. They also had much larger clearances and higher tolerances than modern high tech engines. They also didn't care about oil consumption. Dirt scores cylinders and rings, and over time increases oil consumption. Except in performance applications, filtering ability is more important than flow.
Aside from that though I have always used paper elements cause of the low cost compared to the life time filters like K&N. But now with this car having low hood clearance I need to get as much airflow as possible out of the smallest package.
@Milner62 NO. Oil bath filters are absolutely horrible for filtering, they are not NEARLY as efficient at trapping dirt as a paper filter. And cotton gauze is also pretty bad. PAper filters are best at filtering air.
@Milner62 Cotton gauze is good for FLOW. But FLOW isn't necessarily good for FILTERING ability. No air filter at all would be great for performance but longevity would be crap because of all the dirt that would get in. K&N let alot of dirt through that paper filters pick up becasuse of the higher efficiency.
@rudolphna54, first off clearances you are talking about being tighter are for the bearings not the piston rings they still run the same so many thousands of a inch per inch of bore gap that was runned back in the 50`s even. You cant make the gap smaller or you will lock up the engine once things expand with heat. Now for mine I need the flow maybe your car doesnt need it but mine needs it with a 1000 CFM throttlebody with a powerband of 2,000 - 6,000 rpm.
@rudolphna54, In the end you dont need to filter out every last particle. From how I am reading your comment you are under the belief that you need to filter as much out of the air as possible which just isnt true. The Model T 4cylinders were bullet proof engines and just ran for ever and got great gas miliage but they didnt have an aircleaner at all.
@rudolphna54, and what proof do you have? Oil Bath filters are basically the same as the cotton gauze filters but better because they use horse hairs that are coated in motor oil. Dust and dirt particles stick to the oil coated horse hairs. Same as the cotton gauze, dirt and dust sticks to the gauze and the oil helps. If they are as bad as you say I wonder why every performance driver I seen uses cotton gauze filters.
Now about making more power without a filter thats a myth. I could put a new aircleaner on my car and take it off and regardless it will make the same power. Its when you take off a old clogged filter that you make more power. an engine is only going to pull in as much air as the engine is able to. Which is why I was looking at K&N for my kitcar I have limited room and can only run a 14" dia x 3" tall filter so I need their filter lid to supply the engine with enough air.
Interesting video. Too bad the video is incorrect though on paper filters. They are not good. A oil bath filter is simmilar to the cotton gauze life time filter that you have to clean and spray a oil film on to clean that is better than these toss away paper filters but yet a oil bath filter that has horse hair and motor oil filters the air way better and you get way better air flow and gas miliage over paper or cotton gauze.

They need to do How It's Made How It's Made ! aww yes
Facinating seeing automatic machines.

fantastic, I want to start in this business

i want to buy this plant to start in this business!

I want to know what is the polyurethane who give that quality?????
Haythem Bk it's a liquid that's usually mixed with another liquid chemical causing a chemical reaction. Turning into a solid "foam"
agreed, you can just a degreaser to wash it too, no need to get their "cleaning" kit, only need to buy their oil
I need this plant to start up a business in my region

1:06 is where it starts.
@jamesnwilson1982 Fram and WIX/Napa Gold/CarQuest are made the same way, but I know we have a QC department, because I'm part of it lol.
No Quality Control step, eh? Figured.
@dirkaltman now there's something I'd watch hahah koko

why not build home walls like this

Airaid!
I went cheap and bought a paper filter. To my shock, mine was made with pure cardboard. WTF....
lol FRAM....
fuck all that, keep it simple, just use a damn paper towel...
dirty work under the hood? thats what she said
đe je merda da vidi ovo haha
long ass intro!
