The download of the map isn't as good as the one you're viewing. It's too low res. Do you have a better downloadable version? =Store location looks like a shopping center paved over IMO. =newport area mentioned all paved over but beach and a piece of the median
love your enthusiasm...there are possibilities with your map...I have used that map of orange county, and grew up in Orange county (westminster)...all of those spots you're pointing out in the map of 1889...all of that schools, railroad and stuff have been built over. THere are houses where that school you're talking about...I agree, there aren't many older maps to look at and let's face it...orange county california only goes back to those 1889 dates. Not much to metal detect unless you go up to gold country in San Francisco and outlying areas.
I've compared the spots on your video to google's maps. I think there are some possibilities. Many have been replaced by shopping centers, but that doesn't mean stuff can't be found near these spots. I'll send you a separate message with the images. Thanks again!
+thatoneguy i seen your video where your hunting Schroeder Park in Huntington Beach but i think your off a bit on your map =(, i was able to locate the actual spot the school was on and i think there is some hope left there ,also hey your my neighbor lets hunt together man =)
If you can get permission, There was an old schoolhouse at. 33.723297, -117.987475 My grandparents lived across Heil from there. My cousins and I used to play "army" in the remnants of the wooden structure back in the early 80's. I was told it was from the 1800's It's just an empty field now. Good luck and happy hunting
You don't seem to be from OC, because you don't know how to pronounce the place names very well or what the existing locations are. That store is obviously in Anaheim Hills and that railroad still runs, I see trains on it all the time. the SAVI canal used to connect with the lake at Eisenhauer park. Looks like the lake didn't existing yet in 1888 though. Also you keep saying things like, "it's east of Santa Ana". Well, the city boundaries in 1888 have expanded quite a bit so chances are very good that the location where that school was is actually IN Santa Ana now, or possibly Westminster. Overall though this is a really great map to see. I recognize so much on there including the tract where my house is.

Treasure hunting around railroad right-of-ways is dangerous and illegal.
