- The BIGGEST freshwater fish store I've EVER visited!
According to the owner, Ron, Aquarium Fish Depot in San Diego, California is the largest fresh water fish store in the west ... and he's just getting started!
It was incredible. Both the selection and quality of his stock was top notch. It’s only been open 90 days and despite hundreds of tanks, he is adding still another wall of tanks at the back of his massive warehouse-size building. It truly is a "Depot."
Take a walk through with me. You will not be disappointed. From small community fish to the what is considered the WORLD’S MOST AGGRESSIVE FRESHWATER FISH. It’s all here.
Visit Aquarium Fish Depot here:
www.aquariumfishdepot.com or stop by at:
5121 Santa Fe St, Ste F, San Diego, CA
Phone: (858)926-2060

Thank you Ron for letting me hang out and film your awesome shop!

Fantastic video Ben loved it!
Yes! I’ve been looking for fish stores! Thanks for your videos!!!
very cool
beautiful rift cichlids
Binge watching your vids. lol
A lot of floor space looks like a clean shop. Thumbs up here.
Heck yeah!! Love to see my favorite Local fish stores getting the live they deserve!
The store has grown so much this past year. I have made the trip down the store
That Long fin Tiger Barb looked insane. Those fins flowing so long
I want the whole place LOL
Hi Ben, wow what a great shop overthere. I wish we had that in Holland
Would love to stop by there once I get back stateside... Impressive store
I loved it and the owner Ron is a real nice guy.
I'm glad so many people have had good results with this store. Every one of my friends who have shopped there have had issues with their experience. Fish sold with ick, bad advice for tankmates, etc.
Bubble filters? Goodgodman, I haven't seen those since the 80's! ...reminds me of my first aquarium, with the metal trim. Lol
I'm so lucky to live 5 minutes from this shop. Ron loves fish and knows what he's doing.
Biggest and best selection of fresh water fish I've ever seen.... I've gotten a lot of fish from Ron. He's very knowledgeable.
Are the predator haps for $30 like the hawk in this video a male?
2 hr video of you talking about different fish is cool with me while I’m admiring mine
Awesome! I really appreciate Ron and his store.
That was fantastic.
I'm glad that you liked it.
Does he ship fish
tyson3897 I don’t know. Give Ron a call. His number is in the description.
@@BenOchart thank you Ben
@@tyson3897 A bit late but... he does now!
Good stuff! Thank you sir!
Hello Ben!!! WOW!!! What an INCREDIBLE fish store!!! I LOVE all the beautiful fish!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
These are awesome.
Hey Ben . I have some pictures/ videos of a 120 gallon I put together with only fish from Ron. Might be interesting if you want them. Ron is the only person I buy from . Thanks. Hit me up if you are interested. Love the videos !
Send me a clip to ben.o.cichlid@gmail.com (I'm alway interested in seeing tanks!) But I have to warn you, any clip you send to me runs the risk of ending up in one of my videos, LOL!
Sometimes it seems like going backwards. In December I bought 5 fish. Two jumped out and one was murdered overnight. Never witnessed any daytime agression.
Hate it when they jump. It's happened to all of us. I'm currently sitting in front of my AC tank and watching closely. I've had several murders that happened when I wasn't looking. I think I'm starting to see a pattern that would indicate that the Eureka Red is the killer. Very frustrating. You go to bed and a fish looks great, and the next morning he's shredded and dies a couple days later in QT.
Nice one.. Enjoyable!
I just stocked one of my tanks with fish from this store! Such a great location!
Wow that place is incredible. I would be broke if I had a shop like that near me.
Love personable fish. I have 2 cichlids that stole my heart, lil brats 🤣🤣🤣
Cool store! I saw a fish that made my mouth drop! Good job Ben!
Another great looking store thank you for the tour.😎🐟🌴
Wow what an amazing store. Cant wait to see it in person!!
Mention to Ron that you saw Ben's video. He'll get a kick out of that. Thanks for watching.
Great store. My new favorite in so cal. Everything I've bought from Ron has successfully bred already.
Store looks awesome! Can't wait to come see it in person soon!!
Love this place. I have visited this store since it opened a few times. Like just yesterday. 11-20-19. He has incredible fish, have bought some from him. Plus I have bought my plants there too. Worth visiting if you are in San Diego.
Agreed! I hope to go back after he builds out that back wall. It's going to be epic.
very cool, like the sunshine too.
Ben, your lucky to have such great fish stores you can visit...I would be homeless if I had stores like that close by where I live.
They have Lake Tanganyika fish there I see...I love the Tanganyika fish, their so unique.
Gurvinder Parmar LOL, “homeless” LOL
I agree 100% with that comment. I might be homeless but I can promise you this, I would have one awesome display tank in my cardboard box in the alley, lol!!!! Later
Kevin Lancaster 😂🤣😂
Most of the pricing is fantastic, wish I had a store like that close by.
Me too Dan. He's two hours away from me. Maybe it's a good thing because I'd have to buy a lot more tanks to put all the fish in that I would be buying from him, LOL!
I really enjoy your videos. I like to see what these shops are like even though I am nowhere near them. 🙂 Thank you for all the information you share. I've learned a lot from you over the last few weeks since running across your channel.
Thank you Stacy for the kind words. They are encouraging 😀👍🏻
The store keeps growing. I went in the first week it opened
It has way more tanks and fish now.
...and he's filling the back wall with tanks too!
I wish there was a store like that close to Greensboro NC. Wow!
Thanks, A must to stop by on my next trip to SD. Looks like it is really convenient right off the 5. Hope they are very successful going forward.
Ben,
If you go back to this store tell the owner that he needs to open another store in Mayberry RFD, Mount Airy NC. He would do amazing business and make tons of cash even if I was his only customer, lol!!! One of the few things I do miss about Californistan are the awesome fish stores. Congrats my friend and another superb video as usual.
God Bless
Kevin
Funny thing, I was there that day! Nice video
We should have met.
I don’t understand why fish keepers love cichlids I kinda think they are ugly. Do you think I could have 1 puffer in a 5 gallon tank with my Cory and albino bottom cleaner ?
Cichlids come in thousands of varieties ... Perhaps a pea puffer?
He needs to install some couches and chairs. I could spend all day in that store just watching all the fish!
John FishKeeper That’s a great piece of advice and he has the space.
instablaster...
I knew you were gonna get a new fish!
You know me well. On Sunday I'll reveal what I got in a short video.
Wow, I wish that was my local store. It's a very good thing it isn't, since I'd go broke.
Next time I’m in SD forget sea world I’m going to check out AFD.
One question I’ve always had is how do fish keepers in seismically active areas deal with earth quakes? What preparations and precautions do they take to protect their aquariums, the fish in them and their fish rooms (and the building housing them)?
Teo Ebratt That’s a good question. From personal experience I can tell you that apart from a little splashing my tanks have not experienced any damage.
Next month I'm going around that part of Cali and guess who will be coming back with some fish .thanks for the heads up
cichlid guru 😂 You’re going to love the place
Wish I was out west, I’d be dropping a lot of money in there, great store and huge selection, unreal
Seems to be a great store but the camera quality seems to be delayed/jumpy. It almost seemed like a security camera... An upgrade would probably do wonders for your channel, it’s difficult to watch for me:/
Heath Short After reading this I watched on several devices and didn’t see any jumpy or delay issues 🤔🤔🤔
Here we go again, this is probably the same fish store owner who posted the comment about not being impressed. The video is fine quality. I would watch your videos in b & w and out of focus which none of yours are Ben. Besides quality content is far more important to the fish keeping people than image quality. Keep on doing what your doing Ben. Later
@@BenOchart played fine for me
Oh my gosh he did it again!! 🙋🏽 💲 🐠 👍
Juergen Sbr I’m out of control 🤣
Decent prices on the Haps but the peacocks seem to be about $20-25 an inch 🤔😳
Hmmmm not overly impressed really
The Tanganyika fish were very impressive. The ones with stripes on the eyes are from Victoria.
Don’t go, but thanks for watching
If you can't say something positive.............. Go make your own video from the fish store you obviously must own to post a comment like that. Later
You must have amazing LFSs in your town/city. This is still a brick and mortar store and not a fish farm.
@@tedtownsend8933 Well we have one. That is pretty nice and one of the better ones in this country. But then again I have been a regular there for the last 35 years I might not be the most neutral judge there.
HI BEN; I WISH I KNEW THIS PLACE EXISTED 2 WEEKS AGO....I WAS IN SAN DIEGO TO VISIT THE SAN DIEGO ZOO. BEAUTIFUL FISH STORE....GOOD LUCK TO RON.....
Call me before going anywhere in the future Daniel. Are you laughing. Next time you're in the area stop by, you'll love it (and probably take a few fish home).
@@BenOchart THANKS BEN......YOUR THE BEST.....DON'T FORGET.....WHEN YOU VISIT LAS VEGAS PLEASE LET ME KNOW
