It's not the wins and losses...It's not cheers and accolades and awards and trophies...Brothers and Sisters this is what college football is all about...Good Bless Marshall from this FSU fan...
Thank you for putting this up, I didnt get to watch this cause I was on the field with the band, but just hearing it was enough to give my chills standing down there.
I remember reading about the Wichita St crash w hen u was 10 yrs old. I remember seeing photos of the crash in the Boston Globe the day after it happened. I don't recall hearing much st the time about the Marshall plane crash for some reason. it was not that publicized in my area for some reason. it wasn't until "We Are Marshall" that I really began to follow it closely. the story of "from the ashes we rose" is one of the most moving sports stories I've ever heard. one side note of the WSU crash, as tragic as it was, there were two planes carrying the football team and if I read correctly there were survivors I believe and the entire team was not wiped out. Marshall was not that lucky.
Yes. Two planes were chartered. One took the scheduled route while the other, hosting the starters and boosters, decided to take another more scenic one. That plane became boxed into terran much too steep, unable to turn around, and crashed into the side of the mountain. Nine people survived.
It is Robert Anthony Harris. He was part of the Moeller (Catholic School in Cincy) Trio that came from Cincinnati, grew together as young ones and died together. The other Moeller Fellas were Jack Repassey and Mark Andrews.

I stayed at a hotel in Huntington WV once around 15 years ago. I ripped off a sign out of an elevator.
Still one of my favorite souvenirs.
