This show resonated with me too because of how it really did force me to confront my own biases and opinions and challenge my beliefs. During the episode about the Mormon family that moved into Stans's neighborhood, it spent most of the episode making fun of Mormonism. I, as a non-religious person, was identifying with Stan and thinking "hah, look at these idiot religious people, I'm glad I'm smart and don't believe stuff like this". Then at the end of the episode, they flipped the entire premise on its head and showed the lack of maturity Stan possessed by constantly challenging the worldview of people who weren't bothering anyone and were just an average friendly family. I realized I was being equally irrational by convincing myself I had all the right answers and feeling a need to exert my own insecure sense of intellectual superiority on others who are just trying to live their lives. Definitely made me think.
If South Park never gets cancelled, I will be soooooo happy Edit: Wow....over 1,000 likes. If I could go jackin' it in San Diego like Stan, I would be sooooo happy
I'm so fucking glad you explained how and why South Park is NOT offensive. I've been saying the same things in defense of this point for years. Even for episodes 200 & 201, none of my Muslim friends (who were pretty religious at the time, no drinking, no pork, etc.) didn't find the episodes offensive, or even when they saw Muhammad on the Super Best Friends. They were aware of SP's and Matt and Trey's intentions, and how the show makes fun of everything, and understood that they treat everyone and everything the same way. Keep putting out the great content Blooms!
I applaud season 20. As a dane i liked the mockery and windmills. (For our use of wind power) And i wonder whether people will think the national anthem is tjing tjang tjing from pyrus. I would have no problem with that....
As a Muslim myself i love watching south park, its so fucking hilarious yeah and i dont care about the Jokes in the end i know their intentions (Sp and Matt). I Know that they dont hate Muslims and that they dont hate anyone they just like making fun of everyone because this is what their show is about and btw just because a Muslim doesent drink or doesent eat pork it doesent make him religious yeah i mean like especially about pork Muslims dont eat it mostly because their kind of disgusted by pigs and you cant blame them i mean Pigs eat their own shit and they keep cross breeding with other animals also their meat was scientifaclly proven to be worser for a persons health than other meat, i am not disgusted by anyone who eats pork no i am just disgusted by the animal it self. Last year when i went to greece for a vaccation i accidentally ate pork i thought it was turkey and although it tasted good i was still really disgusted.
Say how about the recent Japan and Japanese Anime Vs Woke, Feminist and leftist culture and Western Cartoons issues, has South Park done an episode on it yet? I'm asking cause it sounds like a genuinely funny episode.
What I always tell to those I recommend this show to is that South Park is not an inherent reflection of what Matt and Trey hold true. South Park reflects a lot of our own society. They present views in somewhat exaggerated manners, they don't JUST point fun at one group forever and try to send a message home. They insult both sides and even sometimes praise both. It's a cartoon that is like our own world: constantly clashing with itself and other sides, never afraid to hold back
So I think this is a narrative that gets thrown around way to much. While they make fun of everyone... It's not really equal Like if people think the level of critique are some how divide equally then they haven't watch the show. Satire is such a hard thing to do right and the image of neutrality is sorta of bs. They've always thought Climate change was a joke Equal would be pointing out the skepticism and bias but they spent 20 year and several season pushing the its imaginary joke just to shit on Al Gore To now flip that perspective now that there's zero room for doubt. It can't be cancelled because they've cultivated a generation of apathetic individuals How often does a message get muddled because dunking on a celebrity was more important then the overall narrative. Like I still see people pat them on the back for trying to reappropriate and contextualize Nigga and Faggot Those are not things they should be the ones to normalize like as much as people talk about political bias there still in the libertarian mindset The deportation debate episode's has them take a side even with Mexican Joker or the Goobs They don't get canceled noe because reality has out paced the absurd. They didn't back then because their image as neutral still swept the media landscape They make fun of abortion but you never see them point out the moralistic side of the pro life people its usually just easy fodder for gross out humor It's not seen as offensive because either people have warped there view if South Parks as "making fun if everyone" or just the fact its two guys in there 40 marking content in 6 day's Personally nothing they could do beats the real world dumb shit. They could go full racist and it pales to the real world the offensive material died out in the early 2000 where the boys were just asshole's

The Token/Tolkien twist is the perfect example of how Matt and Trey throw up the double middle finger to anybody who dare come at them. The Mohammad episode, the fact that they themselves were the ones who started the #CancelSouthPark hashtag trending, you name it. They literally do not give a single fuck what their haters think. And that is why we love them and always will.
I love watching your channel grow week by week, it shows the potential that you have to grow even more and I can t wait to see where you end up @blooms :)
And instead of being canceled, even when they LITERALLY circulated #cancelSouthPark themselves, South Park studios signed nearly 1.5 BILLION DOLLARS in contracts for new content. The truth is it has a large, loyal, dedicated, unshakable fan base. We love comedy in its purest form and that's what SP delivers. They are quintessential American satirist on the level of Twain. That's what we love, and that's what they deliver.
I think the episode "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs" is fantastic. It shows how people take south park's commentary as support or criticism of their own beliefs or ones they disagree with, even though they just want to be funny and aren't pushing political agendas.
truly good adult shows like South Park that can withstand the test of time don't exist anymore because of extremism. and I love how south Park can literally look at extremest and hold a mirror to there face and not have it get them cancelled.
Finally someone puts what I've been saying into a video for years! I tell my sister this all the time. Cartman is my favorite not because of the terrible ideology he believes but the mockery of what he represents. Extremism.
There are only 4 shows/people that I consider "uncancelleable" : South Park, Chappelle, Bill Burr and Always Sunny. Mainly because they have all mastered the art of pointing out real topics that people relate to and highlighting the absurdity within it all while making it comedic. It's not about agendas, it's about taking real experiences and taking it to the extreme to show us how fucked up we all are. They're all geniuses in their own right, and it's exactly what the world needs in these current times.
Chapelle is a weird case imo, and the only one I’d disagree with. As of late, it’s like he’s _trying_ to be cancellable and failing at it- in my opinion he seriously started losing his edge as of late because he’s trying too hard to offend people with the same ol schtick. I respect what he’s done, especially in the past, but his recent work just doesn’t hit as hard. Another issue is that, with him, it *does* feel like an agenda piece- those recent trans jokes are a big example, and the one everyone thinks to. I’m not saying that jokes about trans people are off limits, and there’s surely funny stuff you can do with it- but, more often than not, it feels like Chapelle genuinely doesn’t like them. There’s a difference between clever humour and venting actual opinions through the guise of humour, and in terms of trans people Chapelle feels like the latter camp. I’m not saying he should be canceled- at this point he probably can’t, unless he has a scandal or something- but that’s kind of an issue when he’s trying so damn hard to be as such.
South Park is definitely the most smartly written sitcom ever. I don’t care what anyone says South Park is the smartest and funniest show ever and no one will change my mind about that.
you've pointed out why south park is one of my favorite tv shows of all time, South Park is simply just the best show there is in terms of literally holding up a mirror to dummies in society and making fun of how seriously they take themselves when one shouldn't take life so seriously at all (imo). great video man, you've earned my sub.
Today, I watched the Streaming Wars which ended my marathon of watching every single episode and movie of South Park, even the old Spirit of Christmas shorts, the 2 recent video games, and the episodes that have been banned on HBO MAX. I didn’t watch this show growing up due to my parents actually being responsible but I’m so glad I eventually discovered it as an adult. It’s become a huge part of my sense of humor and has gotten me through the toughest year of my life. Long live South Park!
My mom tried blocking us from watching Beavis and Butt-Head and South Park. My brother and I would just sneak downstairs and watch the shows in the basement instead. No regrets!
They haven't been cancelled because up until a few years ago MOST people understood context. Now a days everything is so insane that it's hard to do strong satire, so recent seasons are more silly than offensive. ...that being said, I also agree with your video.
Say how about the recent Japan and Japanese Anime Vs Woke, Feminist and leftist culture and Western Cartoons issues, has South Park done an episode on it yet? I'm asking cause it sounds like a genuinely funny episode.
@@Robby_C No, I'm talking about recent events, namely, how Japan and Anime are against Woke, Feminist and leftist culture and Western Cartoons and how these two groups are at each others throats lately. On the One side you have Japan and Anime fight Woke Feminist and SJWs for being too gynocentric, Feminist and Woke, as well as spend too much time Appropriating shows and on the other side you got the Woke Feminist and SJWs fighting Japan, saying that Japan and Anime are just as Woke, gynocentric and Feminist as they are and do a lot of Appropriation in media too. The reason South Park has not been canceled because of how popular it is, how long it’s been around, and the fact that South Park makes fun of EVERYONE equally
The frog boiling to death would be the same as South Park not being cancelled because of the FCC but because Matt and Trey are just done with it. The frog jumping, and the show ending by their own hands are both the outcome that everyone knew was possible but no one believed would happen.
as i always say, whats in southpark, stays in southpark. they're cant be cancelled because although they might say things that offend minorities, they treat usjust as any other characters. said before, dua lipa's "music" is so much more offensive than timmy and jimmy, which.. that says a lot, dua. plus, they've said it themselves, south park is supposed to be an exaggeration of offensive material. they've said, quote, "we're just offensive people." the whole point of south park is to be offensive lmao
Hell... They went a whole season trying to get cancelled! #CancelSouthPark Their message was "cancel us if you must; we did nothing wrong but show how egregious some social views are." They have ZERO problem making fun of anyone. The amazing thing is, is that they create an entire episode in a week!!!
South Park is a television institution and thus it’s part of our cultural nostalgia. People see it as a part of the culture now and so it no longer qualifies as something offensive or registers as outrageous. It’s Archie Bunker/All in the Family in the early 1980’s as opposed to the early 70’s when there were write-in campaigns to cancel that show. In the end the audience accepted the presence of Archie Bunker because of nostalgia. When a show reaches that state it essentially becomes irrelevant but is allowed to remain in the cultural atmosphere until it disappears. Then it becomes a segment on a television retrospective and we collectively remember it fondly.
Here's the real reason South Park hasn't been cancelled: it makes a lot of money. Parker and Stone could end the show whenever they wanted to but Paramount is going to pay them what they want to continue the series. They'll go in, have 3 months of intense production then go and do whatever for the rest of the year. After 2025, Paramount will want South Park to be a cornerstone of their streaming service. As long as they make money, Parker and Stone will continue making the show.
Eh, I mean I'm super surprised they signed that deal because on several occasions they've said that they'll quit whenever they get bored of it. There's a level of commitment of signing that deal that's just insane to me given their nonchalance on the matter. Maybe they're just getting old and sentimental.
@@kadennelms8419 The first one was bad enough. Calling Anne Murray a b--h was not funny, just cruel. And Buffy Sainte-Marie deserved it more for lying about being indigenous! Anne got the last laugh by appearing on *Family Guy* as herself to explain to Stewie that she retired from show business.
The genius of South park is that it doesn't really makes fun of anything that it uses as it's thematology. Sure they have comedic characters, sure they have jokes but their themes in their essence are just a depiction of modern society as it is.
Yeah Matt and Trey are two guys who have proved again and again, honestly so happy they got a fat check for 900m, definitely deserve it, thanks for making my childhood 🙌🙏
if you say one offensive thing, you get canceled but when your whole brand is offensive then there really isn’t much to cancel. It’s like a bed of nails.
3 words I love it. Never missed a single episode. I love it. When my local cable company threatened to drop the channel it airs on. I told them if they did, I'd cancel my service. And so many others did the same. They are still on. I love it. I picked up the streaming platform when they made that jump. I love it. Matt and Trey, as long as you make it... I love it. And I am not alone, when I say. South Park. We love you!!!
I have Asperger syndrome and I am labeled as legally autistic. In season 15 of South Park episode 7 and 8 they do a story in where Stan has attained Asperger syndrome from being vaccinated. I wasn’t offended by those episodes at all I found them to be absolutely hilarious. Ever since the creation of those episodes I’ve always wanted to meet Matt Stone and Trey Parker so that I could thank them for giving me the opportunity to laugh at my own disability.
That aspect sort of missed the mark for me comedically. I didn't find it distasteful. I found it entertaining even. I just felt like they could have done more with it than they did.
If anything South Park is the reason why most shows on normal Network TV with the M Rating even exists at all. They've kept pushing the line so many times that everyone slowly realizes that essentially nothing is off limits
South Park is absolutely VITAL these days with cancel culture and the PC movement whining about everything and attacking all comedy or other entertainment. All in the name of gaining as many "woke" points as they can. This show and Cards Against Humanity are a must (although CAH DID cave and get rid of the "Passable Transvestite" card which was lame of them. Always loved that South Park makes fun of everything (specifically the extremes as pointed out) and this vid points out what I've always told people who find it offensive. "regularly called both liberal and conservative" Same dude, same. If you're not a puppet for one side both see you as the enemy.
About the boiling frog thing, I feel like the pot is CC, the water and heat is the tension and controversy, and the frog is SP. If the frog jumps it would mean that SP would get removed
I appreciate Trey and Matt for two reasons and why I feel more writers should follow their example. 1. They do this for their own enjoyment. Whether or not you like it is not of consequence to them. They do it because they love it and that passion even in the weaker episodes is still there after so many years. And 2. They insult everyone equally. No one is safe from being made fun of. But it’s never done in a malicious way either. Well maybe except for Barbra Streisand. But the reason I appreciate this humor is because it’s mockery but it’s almost never talking down like ignorant people who just do it because of hatred. Whereas in Matt and Trey’s humor, I always never feel a true hatred. And I feel like that’s been lost in comedy in a lot of years. That equality in mockery. I don’t know. It’s why I always love Trey and Matt’s work.
You cant be cancelled unless you give in to the "cancellation" if you dont play into and give whoever is cancelling you what they want, you cant be cancelled.
I think the reason it hasn't been cancelled is because it's not pointlessly offensive. They have their fair share of dumb episodes but satire is important in society.
It’s offensive because it’s pointless and it’s pointless because it has not only changed and nothing, it has made things worse. It has lowered the bar for animation, for political satire, and for human rights.
I agree with everything you said and watched south park movie when i was 4 my parents were asleep and im 24 now and the show has been a part of my life ever since
That was a very interesting topic! It actually left me windering something, the other show I loved during that era that ended up being cancelled Why did Drawn together get cancelled? Comparing what happened to both series would be pretty interesting
I think the reason South Park makes the show for themselves and not for anyone else, so why would they care if some 20 year old “IM OFFENDED” people got offended at them
Idk, everyone has different experiences. Especially with this show. I've never seen it as "controversial" I just seen it as a show people either watch or don't watch. I knew there was a stigma about the show and in some episodes you see why. But I don't think it's a vulgar as watching porn or videos of violence. There are definitely some messed up episodes. I would say the show really opened my mind to topics. It taught me to keep an open mind.
You summed it up really well. I like to tell people that South Park is the perfect example of EOO. Equal Opportunity Offenders. They will make fun of and insult EVERYONE. don't like a view they say? Just wait, either later that episode of in the next couple of episodes, you will be laughing with the ahow
It will truly be a sad day when this show does eventually end. There will NEVER be another show like this. EVER. Trey & Matt are the goats of Satirical Comedy & that’s no opinion. That’s a fact my friends.
It will be the dawn of a new golden era the day this tired 90s relic is finally thrown in the trash heap if history where it belongs for good. America will be great again when south barf is no longer a part of it.
It's very obvious they are more politically left leaning, especially with their portrayal of Trump, which i highly doubt will be matched by how they portray Biden (if they even portray him in any negative way) alongside Kamala, Maxine, Pelosi, etc.

Keep putting out the great content Blooms!
yeah this is really stupid. they showed Muhammad a (child abuser) as a superhero how can these leftist or Muslims be angry about that...
It only matters on who they offend on who is in power not being offensive by itself.
I applaud season 20.
As a dane i liked the mockery and windmills.
(For our use of wind power)
And i wonder whether people will think the national anthem is tjing tjang tjing from pyrus.

The funniest part is Lou Kim, canonically, isn’t even Asian. He’s a white guy 😂
Turns out, the secret to not being cancelled is "don't apologize for anything you aren't sorry for."
It's a cartoon that is like our own world: constantly clashing with itself and other sides, never afraid to hold back
Unless it’s celebrities. They’re all crushed to their very soul.
"Never afraid to hold back" lol sure
@@alexnelson8 Every once in a while celebrities are shown in a positive manner, but yeah a lot of the times they are very criticised
So I think this is a narrative that gets thrown around way to much. While they make fun of everyone... It's not really equal
Like if people think the level of critique are some how divide equally then they haven't watch the show.
Satire is such a hard thing to do right and the image of neutrality is sorta of bs. They've always thought Climate change was a joke
Equal would be pointing out the skepticism and bias but they spent 20 year and several season pushing the its imaginary joke just to shit on Al Gore
To now flip that perspective now that there's zero room for doubt. It can't be cancelled because they've cultivated a generation of apathetic individuals
How often does a message get muddled because dunking on a celebrity was more important then the overall narrative.
Like I still see people pat them on the back for trying to reappropriate and contextualize Nigga and Faggot
Those are not things they should be the ones to normalize like as much as people talk about political bias there still in the libertarian mindset
The deportation debate episode's has them take a side even with Mexican Joker or the Goobs
They don't get canceled noe because reality has out paced the absurd. They didn't back then because their image as neutral still swept the media landscape
They make fun of abortion but you never see them point out the moralistic side of the pro life people its usually just easy fodder for gross out humor
It's not seen as offensive because either people have warped there view if South Parks as "making fun if everyone" or just the fact its two guys in there 40 marking content in 6 day's
Personally nothing they could do beats the real world dumb shit. They could go full racist and it pales to the real world the offensive material died out in the early 2000 where the boys were just asshole's

Matt and Trey after trying to get cancelled but not being able to be like:
*Suffering from success*
The Token/Tolkien twist is the perfect example of how Matt and Trey throw up the double middle finger to anybody who dare come at them. The Mohammad episode, the fact that they themselves were the ones who started the #CancelSouthPark hashtag trending, you name it. They literally do not give a single fuck what their haters think. South Park is comedy perfected
It is practically treason to the United States to compare a great man like Mark Twain to these two talentless vulgarians.
I think the episode "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs" is fantastic. It shows how people take south park's commentary as support or criticism of their own beliefs or ones they disagree with, even though they just want to be funny and aren't pushing political agendas.
Well, they failed on both counts.

I’m not saying he should be canceled- at this point he probably can’t, unless he has a scandal or something- but that’s kind of an issue when he’s trying so damn hard to be as such.
hard disagree with chapelle
Chappelle actively punches down. He's not making carefully layered critiques on modern society, he's directly attacking groups of people

Their message was "cancel us if you must; we did nothing wrong but show how egregious some social views are." They have ZERO problem making fun of anyone.
"Simply finding the comedy in the absurdity of our society" - perfect summary!
Also, let's also be honest that 21st century America continues to give them plenty of new material to work with.
Eh, I mean I'm super surprised they signed that deal because on several occasions they've said that they'll quit whenever they get bored of it. There's a level of commitment of signing that deal that's just insane to me given their nonchalance on the matter. Maybe they're just getting old and sentimental.
They started the show while young so I hope they go a bit further and end on maybe another full length motion picture.

No questions, that was perfect :) 💜
Idk, everyone has different experiences. Especially with this show. I've never seen it as "controversial" I just seen it as a show people either watch or don't watch.
