I actually live in Sale, but not from it. It certainly has pirate vibes alongway with Rabat. Sometimes I think I may find there Marshall D Teach from One piece waiting next to the Marina for the next pirate expedition.
@@WinglessWyrm hmm, not sure enough, I am just familiar with the Kasbah (castle) of "Loudaya" and the similar marine walls of Sale, obviously defensive wars. I have also heard about the strategic river on which it the cities (Sale /Rabat) are built, The bouragreg river seemed to me quite too narrow in the exit for large European war vessels to enter, which should be a benefit for Sale pirates who use small fast ships, robbing, capturing, and running away.. no big research Morocco's gov seem to bring on the topic
Thanks man! I must say that it was pretty hard condensing it into 7 minutes as there was lots of random things happening at once. But it was fun to cover something which isn’t as often talked about.
thanks man! The issue is probably that i dont upload every week because i am in the last year of uni haha. But no worries, I enjoy making this content and keeping it "homely"
Good except for the capture by the Knights of Malta - that wasn't Jan Jansen van Haarlem (Murad Reis) that was captured - it was a corsair from Tunis. Murad Reis was the governor of Safi in the early 1630s and from 1634 he was the governor or wali of Walidia with a kasbah built for him by Sultan Walid. The kasbah is in ruins but Jan's house, built at the same time, is still standing and is lived in. He died sometime after being visited by his Dutch daughter in 1640.
Super interesting~!
From Platypus to Wyrm, interesting. I'll certainly miss the four-legged mammal, but welcome the legless dragon. Anyway, great video as always!
Thanks man 🙏 just felt right to add something fresh
